Macross Δ (Delta) Mecha/Technology Thread - READ 1st POST

Although I've yet to do a scene by scene comparison. Going by memory I suspect that was reused animation from Messer's missile launch scene in episode 10 at 20:03.I have a feeling that 3 missiles per launcher is probably the maximum capacity, giving 18 missiles in total. -
I'm using the stickers. The blue horizontal stripe below the cockpit in my photo is the only sticker I've applied so far. Quality seems fine to me, it seems to adhere well enough. I'm just snapping this kit together as quickly as I can and using a Gundam marker for the panel lines. I'm not skilled or patient enough to use paint or decals.

Just finished snapping together the nose section. That's enough for tonight. Now to watched episode 13.

I presume there is a decent amount of mecha action this week? -

Not exactly. The whole GAU-8 Avenger canon assembly including barrels, breach mechanism, drive and magazine is about the length of a VW Beetle. The magazine is not as big as the whole car. -
I'm of the opposite opinion. I think the physical model kit representation of the Super Parts actually looks better than how I remember the animated CGI version looking in the show.

Yeah, single barrel and quite large calibre by the look of it. I'm glad we are seeing a move to more advanced technology in the form of rapid fire rail guns, rather than having them using conventional cased propellant ammunition. Having them as rail guns also makes it easier to store more ammo in a smaller space. -

I'd say it has to be in the forearm as the hands do not retract into the forearm, so there should be room for a fairly decent ammo capacity in there, even including any other mechanical gubins inside. I'm estimating around 200 to 300rds per gun. And bear in mind as the arm guns are rail guns, the ammo will take up less space as you only need to store the projectiles, there is no need for a cartridge case for propellant -

I'm pretty sure the arm guns they are single barrel. Their rate of fire doesn't seem super high to me based on the animation, around. Single barrel modern day aircraft cannon are capable of quite high rates of fire. For example the Eurofighter Typhoon's 27mm Mauser cannon has a rate of fire of 1,700 rounds per second. The Siegfreid's rate of fire looks about similar to me. And who knows, being rail guns and presumably powered by the VF-31's reactor output, maybe they can have a higher rate of fire. -
Just got my payment request from HLJ for the VF-31J.

Yeah, tell me about it.......LOL

I'm gonna cancel my pre-order for the Faerie squad version. Although to be honest, I have no recollection of ordering it. Must have been drunk at the time......haha.

In episode # 6 when they are using Super Parts in the asteroid field battle, they have a Sound Booster Pod equipped instead of the standard charger pod. We discuss this in the Episode 6 discussion thread. The radome on Chuck's VF-31E folds down at the sides, kinda like a folding table (actually it may be a bit more complicated than that) and when not in use is stored between the VF-31E's legs.

Where did you get this info? Source? -
I'm really hoping the instruction sheet includes full technical specifications of the VF-31. Often Bandai's transforming kits include the tech specs.

My view is that with modern Frontier and Delta era VFs, unless the Valk is stationary and NOT taking any defensive action, micro-missiles are pretty much ineffectual apart from for use as a distraction. -

Although Macross 30 is a great game and technically canon (I also loved playing it), I'm just basing my opinion on micro missiles and medium size anti VF missiles on what I observe in the various animes, not in games. But just to be clear, I'm referring to short (WVR) and medium size (BVR) range anti VF missiles, not large reaction missiles or large MDE missiles which are designed more for use against large targets such as capitol ships, planets or Vajura Queens etc. -

Bandai Macross Δ Mecha Collection Small Scale Plastic Model Kits
Graham replied to IXTL's topic in Model kits
Well, although I promised not to buy anymore of these things, I walked past a model shop yesterday and they happened to have Arad's VF-31S and Keith's Sv-262 so they sort of followed me home......Hahaha! I slapped them together quickly last night, took about 30 to 40 minutes for each one. Assembled them using a few drops of superglue where necessary as I worry about parts falling off and then applied the stickers. Didn't get perfect sticker placement especially on the Sv-262, but good enough for my low standards. At least no stickers tore this time when removing them from the sheet, unlike on the VF-171. Will panel line the underside of the VF-31S later, as it looks a bit plain.
