    VF Girls

    Love those VF-17 girls. Graham
  2. As much as I admire Michael Mann I think the suckiness that is Colin Farrell will work to cancel out Mann's greatness in this case. And as JsARCLIGHT said, Miami Vice is really tied to the 80s. I doubt a modern reimaging will work. I could be wrong though. Graham
  3. OK, the consensus seems to be that the new Gunbuster OVA sucks as a sequel to the original classic. But how about if viewed as a standalone unrelated story and not as a direct sequel? Is it watchable or even dare I say it..........good? Let's just say if you had never seen the original and watched the sequel first, would it make sense? And would you enjoy it more not having been spoiled by the original? I've yet to watch episode 1, but screen shots of episode 2 in the recent issue of Hobby Japan magazine show plenty of T&A (including nipples) from the pink haired Mylene-lookalike character. Graham
  4. As the person who wrote the English language transformation instructions for the Escaflowne toy, I spent quite a lot of time with the toy. It's not really fragile at all as most people make out. However, people are correct when they say it doesn't have much play value. Articulation in Guymelef mode is limited and the heavy rubber cape tends to pull the arms out of their sockets too easily. Dragon mode makes a great static display piece though in my opinion. Although I'm not a fan of Transformers, I'd have to say that the MPC Optimus is a very well engineered toy, with good articulation, lots of gimicks and a great sculpt. Graham
  5. Wadda ya mean? Zardoz rocks! It's the epitome of quality big budget Hollywood Sci Fi-action movies....NOT! Graham
  6. Bowie, as in David? Masters???????? Sorry, you've lost me Graham
  7. Just wondering what sort of pistol Farrell's Crocket will carry in the new movie? To me the guns of Miami Vice were just as big stars of the show as the actors and the cars. I loved Crocket's choice of guns in the TV series: Bren Ten 10mm (seasons 1-2), S&W 645 .45ACP (seasons 3-4), S&W 4506 (season 5), Detonics Combat Master .45ACP as backup ankle gun (all seasons). 8. You do not know how lucky you are, my friend. Actually, I did once sit through Sentinels, but once was enough and never again. I think I was so traumatised afterwards, that most of it is blanked from my memory, which I why I had no idea about those character names. The only things I vaguely remember are bucket head Britai, Hikaru and Max in spandex superhero uniforms......the horror, the horror. Graham
  9. Ah, you mean Edgar La Salle?
  10. Always loved Miami Vice, the cool cars, the guns, the action, the music.......perfection! Received my boxed set from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, but haven't found the time to watch it yet. And yes, Colin Farrel as Sonny Crocket in the new movie sucks. I doubt even Michael Mann's direction will be able to save the movie. Graham
  11. I'm happy to report that I have absolutely no idea who Janice Em, Vince Grant, and Alex are. I'm also content to remain in blissful ignorance Graham
  12. But I want to forget RT! Waaaahh.....daddy, the bad man's forcing me to remember RT. Graham
  13. Oh well, I guess we will never know what they are. Graham
  14. Because then you have Akira (anime) and Zeta (anime), with nothing to show that the forum also includes Western Sci Fi, which is why I chose Zardoz to represent 'Z', as it is a Western Sci Fi movie, albeit a somewhat obscure one . Actually, I agree there is nothing wrong with the present forum title. Anway, there is not enough space to type a forum title which acurately represents the forum content, otherwise you would end up with a title something like this: - Other Anime & Sci Fi and err.......guns, yep big honkin' guns, oh and Gundam models and toys. Console games, yep lots of console games, Jet planes...zoom, zoom. Lastly, don't forget that aging Austrian former bodybuilder/actor tuned politician! Graham
  15. Wouldn't it be better to go with an 'A-Z' theme to encompass all of Anime and Sci Fi. Thus I suggest: - 'From Akira to Zardoz' Graham

    YF-19

Been looking at Yahoo Japan Auctions and it seeems like Yamato YF-19 and VF-19A toys are selling for between 15,000yen to 20,000yen. If people are paying these prices for what is now commonly thought of as a 'sub-par' toy, this is another indication IMO that the time is right for a good quality, well designed, larger scale YF-19 toy. Graham
  17. Yes, the Milia VF-1J has all the improvements. Graham
  18. For Sci Fi TV series, I'd also recommend Firefly. Graham
  19. If you want a nicely sculpted diecast metal YF-21 fighter, order the 1/144 scale Doyusha from HLJ. I'd stay away from the Yamato 1/72 scale YF-21FP. Not only is the purple color horrible IMO (and non anime accuracte), but it does not lock together well in fighter mode (at least the 3 I have tried don't). Also, it does not balance at all well in either Gerwalk or Battoid mode. If you really must have a Yamato YF-21, I'd actually recommend trying to track down a mint non-FP version. Not only is it the correct color, but it can actually balance fairly well in Battroid and Gerwalk mode. I actually really like the original Yamato YF-21, you just need to be careful with the shoulder sliders as they are a bit fragile. Graham
  20. Changed it a few weeks ago. Got bored of the old 'Anti Tranny' title. Graham
  21. OK this thread is getting locked. I don't care who called who a name first, and I'm damned if I'm going to waste valuable minutes of my life reading through all 6 pages of this thread. If any of you have a problem with another member take it to PM. Leave the insults, bad language and personal attacks out of the forums. And please folks just learn to chill. Life is too short to get so worked up over a TV show. Graham
  22. I'd say buy the 1/60 VE-1 & VT-1 while they are still not too difficult or too expensive to find. I'm very happpy with mine and they are my favorite 1/60 Valks. Although I pretty much treat them as display peices and hardly touch them. They sure are pretty to look at though IMO. Graham
  23. A launching arm is fine for space and looks the coolest visually, but a catapault assisted launch would still be prefered even in space as it gives the Valk some free starting velocity and saves valuable reaction mass (fuel), which is limited in space. Remember it's only in an atmosphere that a Valk can extract fuel (hydrogen?) from the air, thus allowing virtually unlimited range. In space the Valk's fuel supply is limited to what it can carry in internal tanks, FAST Packs or drop tanks. Of course Lanch Arms are absolutely no use for atmospheric launches, so overall the catapault is the way to go for both space and atmosphere. Graham
