  1. Nah, I'm pretty sure it's an unpainted 1/144 model kit, not the MMM GQ. Firstly the swords and shoulders are unpainted. Secondly, the plastic looks model quality, not the high quality ABS of the toy, this is especially noticible on the shoulders. Lastly, big seam lines, which shows it as a quickly snapped together model. Graham
  2. Oh I never follow the consensus and always try things for myself anyway. I'm planning to give the sequel a try no matter what other people say. I was just curious were people criticising the sequel because they thought it was genuinly bad or just beacuse it didn't live up to the original? Graham
  3. Rather than this new movie, I'd rather Mann directed a movie or TV miniseries starring Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas back again as Crocket and Tubbs, showing what they are doing now nearly 2 decades after the events in the final episode of season 5. Graham
  4. Hmm......not liking this pic too much: - http://www.colinfarrellfansite.com/gallery...miamivice34.jpg Everybody knows that Crocket would wear a T-shirt under his suit jacket, not a shirt . Graham
  5. Please stay on topic. This is not a Yukikaze thread. There are plenty of older Yukikaze threads that can be dug up to post this info. Graham

    VF Girls

    Love those VF-17 girls. Graham
  7. As much as I admire Michael Mann I think the suckiness that is Colin Farrell will work to cancel out Mann's greatness in this case. And as JsARCLIGHT said, Miami Vice is really tied to the 80s. I doubt a modern reimaging will work. I could be wrong though. Graham
  8. OK, the consensus seems to be that the new Gunbuster OVA sucks as a sequel to the original classic. But how about if viewed as a standalone unrelated story and not as a direct sequel? Is it watchable or even dare I say it..........good? Let's just say if you had never seen the original and watched the sequel first, would it make sense? And would you enjoy it more not having been spoiled by the original? I've yet to watch episode 1, but screen shots of episode 2 in the recent issue of Hobby Japan magazine show plenty of T&A (including nipples) from the pink haired Mylene-lookalike character. Graham
  9. As the person who wrote the English language transformation instructions for the Escaflowne toy, I spent quite a lot of time with the toy. It's not really fragile at all as most people make out. However, people are correct when they say it doesn't have much play value. Articulation in Guymelef mode is limited and the heavy rubber cape tends to pull the arms out of their sockets too easily. Dragon mode makes a great static display piece though in my opinion. Although I'm not a fan of Transformers, I'd have to say that the MPC Optimus is a very well engineered toy, with good articulation, lots of gimicks and a great sculpt. Graham
  10. Wadda ya mean? Zardoz rocks! It's the epitome of quality big budget Hollywood Sci Fi-action movies....NOT! Graham
  11. Bowie, as in David? Masters???????? Sorry, you've lost me Graham
  12. Just wondering what sort of pistol Farrell's Crocket will carry in the new movie? To me the guns of Miami Vice were just as big stars of the show as the actors and the cars. I loved Crocket's choice of guns in the TV series: Bren Ten 10mm (seasons 1-2), S&W 645 .45ACP (seasons 3-4), S&W 4506 (season 5), Detonics Combat Master .45ACP as backup ankle gun (all seasons). 13. You do not know how lucky you are, my friend. Actually, I did once sit through Sentinels, but once was enough and never again. I think I was so traumatised afterwards, that most of it is blanked from my memory, which I why I had no idea about those character names. The only things I vaguely remember are bucket head Britai, Hikaru and Max in spandex superhero uniforms......the horror, the horror. Graham
  14. Ah, you mean Edgar La Salle?
  15. Always loved Miami Vice, the cool cars, the guns, the action, the music.......perfection! Received my boxed set from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, but haven't found the time to watch it yet. And yes, Colin Farrel as Sonny Crocket in the new movie sucks. I doubt even Michael Mann's direction will be able to save the movie. Graham
  16. I'm happy to report that I have absolutely no idea who Janice Em, Vince Grant, and Alex are. I'm also content to remain in blissful ignorance Graham
  17. But I want to forget RT! Waaaahh.....daddy, the bad man's forcing me to remember RT. Graham
  18. Oh well, I guess we will never know what they are. Graham
  19. Because then you have Akira (anime) and Zeta (anime), with nothing to show that the forum also includes Western Sci Fi, which is why I chose Zardoz to represent 'Z', as it is a Western Sci Fi movie, albeit a somewhat obscure one . Actually, I agree there is nothing wrong with the present forum title. Anway, there is not enough space to type a forum title which acurately represents the forum content, otherwise you would end up with a title something like this: - Other Anime & Sci Fi and err.......guns, yep big honkin' guns, oh and Gundam models and toys. Console games, yep lots of console games, Jet planes...zoom, zoom. Lastly, don't forget that aging Austrian former bodybuilder/actor tuned politician! Graham
  20. Wouldn't it be better to go with an 'A-Z' theme to encompass all of Anime and Sci Fi. Thus I suggest: - 'From Akira to Zardoz' Graham

    YF-19

Been looking at Yahoo Japan Auctions and it seeems like Yamato YF-19 and VF-19A toys are selling for between 15,000yen to 20,000yen. If people are paying these prices for what is now commonly thought of as a 'sub-par' toy, this is another indication IMO that the time is right for a good quality, well designed, larger scale YF-19 toy.
