Macross Δ (Delta) Mecha/Technology Thread - READ 1st POST
Graham replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Does anyone have thrust-to-weight ratio figures handy they could post for: VF-31J VF-31J Super VF-25F. VF-25F super. Thanks in advance, Graham -
I'll definitely buy Hayate's VF-31J with the black trim and Knight emblem if Bandai release it later as a DX.

It's great until the halfway point, but then goes downhill rapidly from episode # 14 onwards.- 183 replies

Hang on, we don't know that Messer's VF-31F is next for sure. All that has been posted are some photos with no context.

Macross Δ BD/DVD Thread (now with delicious English subs).
Graham replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yeah, Frontier was such an awesome show in my opinion, exactly how a Macross TV series should be. I just recently re-watched it to help get over my disappointment about how badly the second half of Delta turned out. The only single negative thing I have to say about Frontier was that the character animation quality was a bit dodgy in a few episodes where they farmed out the animation to obviously tier 3 SEA animation studios. I have the Bandai Frontier DVDs, but if they came with English subs on Blu-ray, I'd definitely re-buy the whole series. Delta, I bought the first disk, with the initial intention to by the rest, but honestly, I just can't justify buying the whole series given how much it jumped the shark after episode 13. I may eventually buy up to episode 13, but it's no longer such a priority.- 183 replies

I'm so stoked for these. Gotta catch em all! I must say having the TomyTech has really made me like Mirage's color scheme. Before I was kinda meh about it, but I've really grown to like it, so looking forward to Mirage's DX as well.

Just watch episodes 1-13 and 26. There is almost no mecha featured in episodes 14-25.- 183 replies

I think it will really depend on the type and grade of plastic used in the toy. I've had several Bandai/Banpresto/Yamato toys yellow over the years despite being kept in their boxes or stored in drawers and not being exposed to any type of light source.

I don't think we need so many threads at this stage. Maybe later if we get more releases. Honestly, I think two threads is ok at the moment. If Bandai decide to release more HMR from different Macross series later then we can review and decide then.
-
Thinking to rename this thread "Hi-Metal R SDFM/DYRL" and create a separate thread titled "Hi-Metal R other Macross Series". Otherwise news and photos about the VF-2SS and any other Macross series releases (cross fingers we get some) just gets lost in the noise. What do you guys think???? Graham

If they start giving these away, then I may consider getting a second one. As much as I love the VF-2SS design, the frustration factor with these is too high and the fun factor too low. Gonna sit back and chill and wait for the Bandai HM-R version instead.
-
Damn, was planning at one of each only, but with the Super packs coming, thinking do I want/need a second one to display with the packs.

Looking forward to the cannon fodder version of the Sv-262 much more, I really don't like the Anubis dog style head of Keith's version and the markings are too bling bling for my taste. I really prefer the head on the standard version as it has much more of an Fz-109 / Sv-51 vibe to it.

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002

Big fan of the Ex-S Gundam. It's one of the few MS designs that I actually like. However, I'm on the fence about getting this toy. I'm disappointed that for the price it can neither be transformed to G-Cruiser mode, nor can it be converted into an S-Gundam, which would have required relatively few additional parts.- 6025 replies

I'm guessing Bandai decided to increase their production quantity due to demands from retailers. Or maybe so many people cancelled their pre-orders, due to the TV series sucking so bad and featuring almost no mecha action in the second half.

Yay, managed to snag one, thanks to FigInStock notification. Wish I'd signed up to their service months ago.

Yeah, scored one. Got and actually saw the alert from FigInStock and wasn't stuck in a "no phone" work meeting. Now just need the VF-31J, which is the one I actually want more.
