  1. I'm wondering if it's actually a member of this board. Come on guys own up, who is it? Out of the dozen or so MWers I've had the pleasure to meet in person, the only one closest to that size would be.............................. Shawn! Mwahahahahahahahaha Nah, more likely it's one of them Row-Boat-Tekkies from that other site. Graham
  2. The funny thing is that website mentions the dresses were made for a 6' 3" client with size 15 feet! But they don't mention if the client was male or female. Now I don't know about you all, but I know exactly zero women who are that tall or have such large feet. I'm betting the costumes were ordered by a cross-dressing male cosplayer. Just how tall is Man-Faye for those of you that have seen him in the flesh, as it were? Graham
  3. I'd be much more interested in a 1/48 VE-1 conversion kit. Graham
  4. IIRC, wasn't there at one point talk of the Nic Cage Superman having a see-through costume.............the mind boggles! Grahan
  5. Book 1 arrived from Amazon yesterday, but have yet to start it as I have a few other books to read through first. I've just got to ask what the heck is wrong with gratuitous sex? Graham
  6. Good news guys. I finally managed to get in touch with Shawn last week and got the updated login info from him. I have already passed the info to myersjesse. As yet I have not had time to try logging onto the server to see if the passwords actually work. Graham
  7. I gave up on 24 half way through season 3. And isn't Imhotep a character from 'The Mummy"? GrahaM
  8. Like many MWers, I've had enough of the VF-1. The 1/48 VF-1 is fine for me. I'd have no interest in a Yamato perfect variable 1/60 VF-1 series. The only VF-1 related product I want to see from Yamato after the GBP comes out is a 1/48 VT-1 & VE-1. I also think that 1/60 scale is perfect for the VF-0 (and hopefully an SV-51 as well :-) ). Any larger would be too big, any smaller could lead to durability issues or the need for parts swapping. Hopefully, Yamato will revisit the Macross Plus toys, or at least just the YF-19 and release improved sculpts in a larger scale. For myself I'd be happy if they are in 1/60 or perhaps 1/55 scale. Graham
  9. I also paid $250 for my AnimEigo set and they are still ok. Unless they suddenly go bad, I'll probably pass on the ADV set. Graham
  10. Of the 4 blue YF-21 that I have out of the box, all are OK. The 2 purple YF-21 I have both have the cockpit problem. Graham
  11. Never did find a solution, but I didn't try very hard as I hate the purple color of the toy anyway. Personally, I far prefer the first blue version, even if it doesn't have gun pods, at least it's the correct color and the cockpit stays locked down in fighter mode. Graham
  12. You are more than welcome to keep it at my house Graham
  13. You mean it's banned from possessing the book inside the church grounds? Or they ban members from possessing the book anyware, including their own homes? if the latter, I didn't know that churches had that sort of legal authority? Do they have a list of banned books, or worse a list of approved books as well? And what about anime, movies, TV shows are some banned as well? What century is this? I wonder what your Church would think about the Michael Moorcock Elric books I used to read as a 12 year old, where the main character had a soul stealing demon sword Or what about my Mum's Dennis Wheatley's horror novels about Satanism and witchcraft that I also read as a kid ? Yes, I know this is skirting dangerously closing to a discussion on religion, which we are not supposed to do, but hearing about that sort of thing really gets my blood boiling. Graham (who only ever goes near a church if I have to for a wedding or funeral)
  14. Devon Aoki needs about 10lbs of silicon adding before she can even think of playing Kasumi Graham
  15. Still undecided. While I'm sure it will be a pleasure to hear Mari on the dub, the same may not be true of the rest of the cast. Also, any word on whether Minmay's songs will remain in Japanese, or are there plans for Mari to rerecord them in English? Graham
  16. Yeah, when you have like 30 or 40 boxes and plastic trays all stacked it does take up rather a lot of space. Graham
  17. My web-fu is weak today as I couldn't find the old thread that mentioned these stands, so I've started a new thread. Anyway, here is the lastest pictures from the new January 2006 issue of Dengeki Hobby magazine of the upcoming Battroid mode stand, made by Hasegawa to fit their line of 1/72 Battroid kits. Click on thumbnail to enlarge: My first thought is it really needs a UN Spacy decal for the circular base. I wonder if this stand will fit other mecha kits as well? Graham
  18. Couldn't find the old thread, so started a new one. Anyway, here's the latest pics of the Yamato 1/48 GBP from the new January 2006 issue of Dengeki Hobby magazine. Click on thumbnail to enlarge: Graham
  19. OK, just picked up the January 2006 issues of Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby magazines, which are just out on the 23rd of this month. Unfortunately, there are no new pics of the Yamato 1/60 VF-0S. But to be honest, I was sort of expecting that, as we had a two month wait last time between the fighter mode and battroid mode pics. If they follow the same pattern, I expect that we will see some Gerwalk pics in next months magazines. Basically, the new Hobby Japan had no new Macross pictures or information at all . The new Dengeki Hobby has some pics of the Yamato 1/48 GBP armor as well as the upcoming Hasegawa Battroid mode display stand. I'll post these pics in the correct threads. Graham
  20. Just wondering if anybody besides me has seen the new CGI Captain Scarlet TV series that's been airing in UK? If yes, what do you think of it? I just picked up the DVD box set of the first 13 episodes from amazon.co.uk and I'm absolutely in love with it. I was always a fan of the original show, but find this new version far superior. It's been getting glowing reviews (see the amazon link above). IMO the CG is far superior to other CG shows like the Roughnecks Starship Troopers show for example. It maintains the dark tone of the original show and for what is basically a show aimed at children has a surprizing amount of death and violence, just like the original show. The new vehicle designs are great as well IMO, especially the Rhino (an updated SPV) and the Angel Falcon Interceptors. There are some fantastic flying scenes as well, especially during the airshow in the episode 'Circles of Doom'. Apparently it cost one million pounds per episode to produce and it shows. Graham
  21. If Harry Potter encourages more kids (or even adults) to read, then I'm all for the books. Kids these days need to read more rather than be glued to console/computer games or the TV all the time. What I can't grasp is why when the books are so obviously written for the teen and pre-teen age group, are they so popular with adults? My parents always encouraged me to read and from the age of about 9 I got seriously into books and grew up with authors like Heinlein, Harry Harrison, Tolkien, Moorcock, Frank Herbert, James Herbert, Damon Knight, Stephen Donaldson, Ray Bradbury, Philip K Dick, Stephen King and many others. To this day I still go through about a book a week and it's rare that you will catch me without a paperback book stuck in the back pocket of my jeans. Now, I've tried to read the first Harry Potter book and got about 50 pages into it, but just could not force myself to continue. Sorry, I just found it too juvenile. I've also rented the first two movies to watch with my wife and found them to be nothing really special. Maybe Potter is something you have got to be really into, but I just don't see the attraction myself. Even thinking back to those long ago days of my teen or pre-teen years, I can't see myself as liking the Potter books. In those angsty years, I would much rather have stuck with Moorcocks' Eternal Champion books, especially the Elric series or the Thomas Covenant books. It just seems to me that people around the world need to remember that there are thousands of other authors besides JK Rowling and millions of other books to read. If the popular press were to be believed Rowling's books are the only books in existence. At least that's what it seems like to me. But like I said at the start of my post, if the books get more people reading who would not otherwise, then more power to them. Hopeully, their new found enjoyment of reading will lead them onto other better (IMO) books. Graham
  22. I'll be picking up the January 2006 issues of Hobby Japan & Dengeki Hobby magazines either today or tomorrow and will post any pics as soon as I get them. So keep your eyes peeled! Graham
  23. FYI, I have already scanned the December issues of Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby magazines and posted the pics on page 20 of this thread. Graham
