  1. And of course for you guys living outside of Japan or Hong Kong, shipping is a large part in the cost as well. Graham
  2. To a large extent, it boils down to economics of scale, i.e. the more units you sell, the lower the cost-price per unit. Both Gundam and Transformers have a huge fanbase compared to Macross. Bandai and Hasbro/Takara have production runs likely in the hundreds of thousands of units per toy, compared to Yamato's production runs, which are relatively small, e.g. in the 5,000 to 15,000 units per toy. Therefore price comparisons of Macross toys compared to Gundam and Transformers toys are mostly pointless as the big companies can afford to sell their toys at a cheaper price point. But, yes as mentioned aleady Yamato is the only kid on the block producing quality transforming Macross toys, so the lack of any meaningful competition does allow a certain amount of price jacking on Yamato's part. However, Yamato is still a pretty small company and the costs involved with the design, tooling and manufacture of this type of toy are insanely high. Graham
  3. We've found that the best thing when installing the chest missiles, is to gently and slowly rotate them into the holes, rather than try to push them straight in. Puts much less strain on the fragile bar that way. Graham
  4. Any movie with Meryl Streep in it. That women bores me to tears. Graham
  5. Just to clarify, Shawn is going to be contacting 2 out of the 3 people who have expressed an interest in the position. That means 1 person will not be contacted. Graham
  6. Threads merged to avoid duplication. Zinjo, please read through the last several pages of this thread. There are plenty of the types of comments you are looking for already. Graham
  7. All the GBP model kit box pictures show some art on the inside of the GBP's lower leg, sort of like WWII bomber nose art, usually a sexy girl pic. One of the Macross Mode Handbooks has a page of this art, which I could scan. I've just PM'd Devin to ask him if he is willing to include this art on the GBP sticker sheet he is making up. I'm sure most of us here would like this for our 1/48 GBP. IIRC, the original Takatoku 1/55 GBP sticker sheet did include one of these girl pics. It's a shame Yamato left it out. Graham
  8. OK good news guys. I was finally able to get in touch with Shawn by email and phone. We discussed the situation and he will be contacting the interested parties soon. Graham
  9. Oh wow, in all these years I never noticed that there was a Milia GBP kit. Graham
  10. Only 4! You are slipping. Better make it 12. Graham
  11. Nobody knows yet whether the SV-51 will make it into production as a Yamato toy. I'd guess the chances are fairly good, as long as Yamato gets good sales of the 1/60 VF-0 toys first. If the VF-0 fails to sell well, it's unlikely IMO that they would release an SV-51. So boys and girls, you all know what you have to do if you want to see an SV-51 toy from Yamato...................buy a whole sh*t load of VF-0 toys first. Personally, I'd love an SV-51 and would buy multiples of the Nora, Ivanov and Cannon-Fodder color schemes. Graham
  12. What's that saying?..........."Any port in a storm". Or as a friend of mine says "twice as tight and ten degrees warmer". Graham
  13. Heh, I love that you chose Serenity as the movie. Graham
  14. While it's true the main site hasn't been updated recently, it's not like we are exactly stagnant or starved for news as all news, reviews, reports & custom toy/model pics are all posted in the forums by members. I still post scans of the Japanese hobby magazines every month in the forums, apart from the rare occasion when somebody beats me to it and scans and posts them first. Graham
  15. Just for the record, I do have slighty more hair than A1 has portrayed me with. I also like to think my wife is prettier than shown in A1's pic. Graham
  16. Never! I occasionally go though a phase every couple of years where I get into Gundam for a couple of months, but I soon lose interest in it. I'm really not into Gundam now and am actually thinking of selling off all my Gundam crap. Macross will always be my first and main anime love. Graham
  17. Just to clarify: - Shawn pays 100% of the bandwidth costs. For the first few years of Macrossworld, Shawn did all the actually updates, I just supplied him with the text for the news and reviews and provided a lot of the photos. When Shawn got really busy a couple of years ago, I tought myself to use Dreamweaver and started doing all the updates myself. A lot of the toy reviews and the custom toy gallery were created entierly by me. Jesse came on board last year to update the model section. Graham
  18. Have yet to kill anybody, but have spent a lot of time over the years training quite extensively with knives, guns, swords, sticks and bare-hand for the day I may have to. Homeless people don't bother me, It's queue jumpers and people that talk in the cinema that really piss me off. Graham
  19. Yep, this does actually take up most of my free time when I'm not at work. When I do have the odd free minute after the kid's asleep at night, I'd rather be doing the activity in A1's first post or chilling out watching some DVDs or occassionally playing some PS2 games to relax. Graham
  20. LOL..........I like this thread. While I do like to endulge in this activity with my wife as often as possible, the aim is not to make more people. We've both decide one kid is enogh. Graham
  21. Yeah, I second that. Some of the guys on the ToyboxDX forum are experts on Jumbos, so that would be the best place to ask. Graham
  22. Still trying to contact Shawn. Hopefully I'll be able to make contact next week. I'm still going to put forward A1 as a candidate for Admin, together with Mechamaniac and Azrael, regardless of whether A1 is actually serious or not. That way if Shawn gives A1 the post and he accepts I won't have to listen to his bitching & moaning about lack of updates to MW, as he'll be the one responsible for updates Graham
  23. Moved to Other Anime & Scifi, as this is not a Macross game. Graham
  24. I'm on the last few pages of A Clash Of Kings, but I'm a little confused over one point and hoping somebody here can clear up the matter for me, as it's really bugging me. (The following question contains spoilers, so don't read on if you haven't yet read A Clash Of Kings) . . . . . . . . . . Why does Ramsey Snow who has previously been posing as Reek, kill Ser Rodrik Cassel and burn Winterfell? Shouldn't Ramsey Snow be on the side of Winterfell and the Starks? We know that Ramsey Snow is Roose Bolton's Bastard and Roose Bolton is fighting for Robb Stark. The fact that Ramsey is able to command 600 men from the Dreadfort garrison implies that he has his father's trust. Graham
  25. LOL.......what's wrong with sex in a hospital? I'll take it anywhere, anyplace, anytime I can get it I'm only up to ep # 17 so far. Bit difficult to figure out the finer points of the story sometimes with the crappy Engrish subs of the HK boot. Graham
