Westworld is awesome (actually, still got the last 2 eps to watch, so no spoilers, please).. Other series I'm currently watching, when and as I have time and dependent on mood: 1) Z Nation, Season 3. 2) Ash vs Evil Dead, season 2. 3) Star Wars Rebels, Season 3. 4) Rewatching Star Trek TOS, season 1 (Yay for Netflix!). 5) Rewatching Star Trek TNG, season 1 (Yay for Netflix!) 6) Black Mirror, season 3. 7) Shooter, season 1. 8 ) Van Helsing, season 1. Just finished, Aftermath, boy what a train wreck of a series, but it was just so terrible I had to keep watching to the end.

My only negatives so far with the VF-31J toy are: 1) The gap behind the cockpit in Fighter/Gerwalk mode. 2) The non-hinged trigger finger of the articulated hands. But, these are minor quibbles. So far I'm overall super impressed with this toy. It's become my favorite VF toy.

Great review, but yeah, as Lolicon mentioned, the sensors on the nose are NOT Fold Quartz, they are just sensors. Also "Individual hologram devicë"!!!??? I think you mean multi-drones. Graham

To be honest, I doubt there is too much of a performance loss between the Kairos's 27mm railguns and Seigfried's 25mm railguns. The Kairos and Siegfried appear to use rail guns of identical barrel length and I would think likely the same or similar power output. Whether there is any trade-off between calibre and rate of fire is unknown, i.e. for conventional single barreled cannon, higher calibre typically = lower RoF and smaller calibre typically = higher RoF. Whether this applies to railguns is unknown.Typically in aerial combat a higher RoF gun will have increased hit probability due to the ability to put more ammunition in the air faster and thus having a greater chance to land a round or rounds on a fast moving opponent. The Siegfried probably also gains extra ammunition capacity due to the slightly smaller size rounds. Also, all else being equal, the 25mm railguns probably have increased muzzle velocity due to the rounds likely being lighter. However, the lighter weight 25mm ammunition may decelerate faster, resulting in a lower maximum effective range compared to heavier 27mm round, although this would also depend on the aerodynamic properties of the projectiles. Too many variables and too little information......urghh. So, without knowing what type of rounds the rail guns fire, it is difficult to theorize too much about their combat effectiveness. Certainly in the anime, the Siegfried's 25mm rail guns seem to be very effective. It may be that the Kairos's 27mm rail guns offer a slighter greater punch, but at the expense of some ammunition capacity and perhaps with a slightly slower rate of fire. Whereas the Siegfried's 25mm railguns offer increased ammunition capacity and maybe a higher rate of fire and thus higher hit probability, but at the expense of slightly less punch. I personally don't agree with the theory about the 25mm railguns being chosen for the Siegfried to minimize loss of life of VAR sufferers. Getting hit with a 25mm rail gun is only going to mess up your day slightly less than getting hit with a 27mm railgun, unless the Siegfried's were using specialty non-lethal ammo (like the shock gunpods used by the VF-5000G in MD7), which they were clearly not shown to be using. Personally, my theory is that when it was decided to design the Siegfried based on the Kairos, the Kairos was looked at and the conclusion was "Yeah these 27mm rail guns are nice and all, but as we are going to be operating as a small group, possibly with little support against a large number of VAR sufferer's who may possibly be in combat VFs/Destroids/Zentradi Mecha, perhaps a bit more ammunition would be better, in case we need to go to guns and perhaps with a bit faster rate of fire, to ensure rapid incapacitation of a target if/when things turn violent". Basically, I think deciding to arm the Siegfried with the 25mm railgun was not necessarily about making it less combat effective/less-lethal, but about providing the better choice for support and protection of Walkure for when things did turn violent. Just my two cents.

MacrossJunkie - That's very bad luck and a little worrying. So far my first 31J is fine after 3 transformations and my second 31J is OK after zero transformations, but multiple openings and closings of the cockpit canopy and drone bay doors. TCracker - awesome photos, dude.

Could somebody post a hi-res scan of the VF-31J Super Pack spececifications and description from the 1/72 super pack kit, please? Just need the tech spec and description section, NOT the model kit assembly instructions.

I’m also really loving the 31J box. It’s made of super sturdy card. I compared it to the VF-19Advance box, which is really flimsy in comparison. Also loving the flap top, “remove before flight” card and the card cover for the accessories (hands/knives/pilots”), really classy touches. I normally don’t keep my toy boxes (not enough space), but I’m definitely keeping the VF-31J box. I transformed the 31J from Gerwalk to Battroid mode last night for the first time. I found the instructions were not really clear on some steps of the torso transformation and locking, so I ended up looking at Suburo’s photos to see how the torso is supposed to look when fully transformed. I’m sure if I could read Japanese the instruction manual would be clearer. I have to say I think the Bandai 1/72 transformable model kit actually has easier/better torso transformation and locking than the DX. In my opinion, that’s the only area where the model kit is actually better than the DX. Really digging the extendable and ratcheted hip joints on the VF-31J Battroid. Bandai have done an awesome job on this toy. Like the majority so far, I do wish the canopy was a bit clearer. As I’m only going to be buying one of each, I’m starting to think which modes I’m going to display the Delta Squadron DX’s in. Probably like this: Hayate’s VF-31J = Gerwalk. Messer’s VF-31F = Fighter. Arad’s VF-31S Battroid. Mirage’s VF-31C = Battroid. Chuck’s VF-31E = Fighter. Hayate’s episode 26 VF-31J = Fighter. VF-31A Kairos = Fighter.

Really liking this toy. Only transformed it to Gerwalk so far, but no problems. Joints nice and tight, but not overly tight. I'm not usually a huge fan of Gerwalk mode, but the 31J looks awesome in Gerwalk. Had one scare when transforming, I thought one of the folding green side petals of the charger was missing, until I saw it was folded inside the charger.....haha Will try transforming it to Battroid tonight. Was too jetlagged last night to attempt it. I also really like the silhouette of the fighter mode, as it reminds me of the VF-19F/S, which is one of my all time favourite VFs.

Thanks, but no thrust to weight ratios for the VF-31 FAST Packs yet? Nobody bought or posted scans from the Bandai Super pack model kit manuals yet? -

Massive fleet battles? We must have been watching a different show Previous Macross series have always managed to balance the idols, music, mecha, action, love triangle, characters and story. Delta was disappointing in that the mecha, action and character development for most of the characters pretty much disappeared during episodes 14 to 25. Graham- 183 replies

Does anyone have thrust-to-weight ratio figures handy they could post for: VF-31J VF-31J Super VF-25F. VF-25F super. Thanks in advance, Graham -
I'll definitely buy Hayate's VF-31J with the black trim and Knight emblem if Bandai release it later as a DX.
