1. Guys, Here's some new line art of Hasegawa's upcoming 1/72 scale VF-0S Battroid kit featured in the new March 2006 issues of Dengeki Hobby magazine and Hobby Japan magazine. Note, the inclusion of same scale VF-1S Battroid line art, which really illustrates just how much bigger the VF-0 is compared to the VF-1. Dengeki Hobby magazine (click to enlarge) Hobby Japan magazine (click to enlarge) The Hasegawa VF-0S Battroid kit is scheduled for release in March 2006. AFAIK, the price has not been announced yet. 2. Guys, Here's the new photos of the Yamato 1/60 scale VF-0S toy from the March 2006 issues of Dengeki Hobby and Hobby Japan magazines, enjoy! Dengeki Hobby magazine (click thumbnail to enlarge) Hobby Japan magazine (click thumbnail to enlarge) Graham
3. The Blue squadron has a more white finish, compared to the first release Joyride Viper which was overall grey. The Silver-Spar Squadron is white, but with very heavy weathering. Also has a Silver-Spur badge and kill markings. Graham
4. As in the Strontium Dog from 2000AD? Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't he a character? 364673 That's the one. Mutant bounty hunter Johnny Alpha. Graham
5. Sadly, most people here will not get the Strontium Dog reference. Graham
6. It looks like the feet can be pulled down further in Gerwalk mode, to allow them to be angled more forward. Graham
7. The Joyride Studios Viper toy is the 1978 TOS version, not the new 2004 MKII. As of this moment, there is no MKII toy, just some resin garage kits. Graham
8. The Bandai 1/65 scale DX VF-17D and VF-17S toys are extremely simple and quick to transform. They are also extremely rugged, despite having no diecast parts. They are probaby the toughest transforming Macross toys ever made. You would have to try very, very hard to break one. Articulation is fair, although the legs could benefit from a bit more articulation, especially the knees, which don't bend back, only forward (for Gerwalk mode). Detail is good, with the toy having a surprising amount of panel lines, far more than it's Bandai stablemate the VF-19Kai/VF-19S toy. The only downsides are that they look very chunky in fighter mode when viewed from the side, although the top-down view looks spot on. Battroid mode looks great IMO. The landing gear is terrible though, basically just fold down rectangular tabs of plastic with minimal detail. I own about a dozen of these toys, most first issue bought in 1995 and I love them to death. I wouldn't part with them. I definitely recommend you pick up one, or several Graham
9. An OVA or series with Aegis Focker from VF-X2 as the main character, set in the 2050s would be pretty cool. Heck, they don't even have to design new mecha, I'd be just as happy seeing the VF-19A, VF-22, VF-17D, VA-3M and VB-6 get more screen time. Graham
10. Hey, I resemble that remark! I was thinking of buying one of those Darth Vader voice changer masks. I've always wanted to sound like James Earl Jones. Graham
11. Damn, my shop still doesn't have the mags in, which is very unusual. They usually get here on the 24th of every month and it's the 26th here in HK already. Oh well, have to wait at least one more day Graham
12. Heh, there's like 1 kid in that photo, the rest all look like middle-age guys. That should tell Lucas something about who the real target audience for Star Wars is. Oh well, it's too late, eps I, II & III are all done. Perhaps if Lucas changes his mind and films eps VII, VIII & IX he'll film them for a more mature audience, rather than making what are mostly kiddy flicks. Graham
13. [Homer Simpson] Mmmmmmm.......gummy pilots [/Homer Simpson] Graham
14. Hopefully, can pick up the new Hobby Japan & Dengeki Hobby mags in about an hour and then post any new pics in about 2 hours time. Graham
15. Hang on, why do they want to sue me? I never did any harm to them, well not much anyway. Graham
16. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the trailer didn't look quite as bad as I was expecting and I wouldn't mind diving the whole thing a try when it's released. I really would have prefered the mecha and ships to be traditional cell animation though, not CG. I don't mind CG mecha if they are done well, like in Macross Zero, but the CG here just looked bad, like about 3 generations behind that of Macross Zero. There was very little surface texture to the mecha and ships. They just looked too CG IMO and not believable. And who is this Admiral Hunter of whom they speak? Graham
17. Still no idea what the '3-inch 2004 Scout ship vehicle' on that list is. It's not the Raptor as that is already listed. Anyway, I'm hoping that list is wrong, as there is no Viper MKII listed. The MKVII is listed, but I want a MKII more. Heck, it's the main fighter of the show. How can you make a toy line without the main fighter. Grrrrrrr! Graham
18. Anbody heard any more news of have any pics yet of the upcoming Hasbro BSG toy ships? Graham
19. The VF-0 in the anime has fairly skinny hands. But I do think it would be better if Yamato also supplied the toy with a set of fixed-pose hands as well as the articulated ones. Graham
20. Agree that the whole enlisted man constructing Blackbird in the space of 1 ep (and it actually working) was beyond silly. Definitely a big mistake on the part of the writers. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the fleet's Flat Top salvage ship had the capability to construct new Vipers, but I just tried seaching for the info and couldn't find it again. But even if they do have the capability, doesn't mean they can use it if they don't have parts. Graham
21. Damn, Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby are late arriving in HK. Won't have them until tomorrow. Graham
22. I like the middle pic. Not sure if that's the old one or the new one? My only comment would be size-down the cockpit, so that the rest of the craft looks bigger. Graham
23. Oh no, please not, not after Macross Zero! I prefer to keep the past as I remember them. 363590 I don't want to be stuck in the past. I want a new series, with new mecha, new characters and a new story. Without that Macross will not move forward and we will get less and less new merchandise, once Yamato has finished milking Macross Zero for toys. Who knows, a new series may turn out even better than the original! Graham
24. The VF-17D is still my favorite, but I think it really is too much of a pipe dream to expect a version from Yamato. I tried to be realistic in my list. Graham
25. While it's difficult to be sure, that pic makes it look like the LERX might be diecast. Graham
