1. Beacuse if you show all the modes at once, then you have nothing to show in the magazines over the next few months and people may forget about the product. Showing each mode a few months apart helps build up anticipation and keeps it fresh in peoples minds. Graham
2. It's probably just as easy to find to anime screen grabs showing the wings angled up or perfectly horizontal. Dosen't really prove much. Graham
3. Early?, Wadda ya mean early, it's 8pm here ATM! Referring to David's post over the last few pages, I have to disagree that the YF-19's wings are supposed to have a downwards droop. Also, unless you want to have very slim legs in Battroid mode, it's not possible to have lower legs as slim as the non-transforming Hasegawa kit in fighter mode. Because Kawamori used a lot of anime magic when he designed the YF-19, any transforming toy is going to involve some compromises between modes. I think Yamato have managed to minimise this as much as possible. Comparisons with SHE or other resin kits are not valid for many reasons. Resin kits are designed without regards to durability or proper locking together of parts or decent joints. Show me the last time you saw a ratchet joint on a resin kit. I ended up thowing out my expensive SHE YF-19, as after relitively few transformations, it was a floopy mess that wouldn't stand in battroid mode and wouldn't hold together in fighter mode. The origami type rear lower leg system of folding panels, while it did allow the shoulder to sit lower in fighter mode, was quite fiddly and fragile and may not work to well in a toy. Graham Graham
4. As I've been saying just like with the VF-0S, the actual product looks much better than the CAD art. Also, I wish people would stop comparing the Yamato YF-19 to the Hasgawa YF-19, especially as the Hasegawa is so skinny, it's positively anorexic and definitely skinnier than how Kawamri draws it. Graham
5. Completed pics of my Wave 1/100 VF-17D battroid with FAST Packs. Enjoy. Graham
6. From what I've been told, the color of the leg FAST packs is the same for the VF-0S and VF-0A. Also, from what I've been told, the second run of VF-0S with tighter joints is already out and was released about 10 days ago. Graham
7. YF-21 holds two gunpods with or without FAST Packs. VF-22 also holds two gunpods. Graham
8. Correctly proportioned rear landing in the proper location would be an absolute pig to get right in a new YF-21/VF-22 toy. The struts are very long and the wing area they fold into is very thin. Graham
9. Yamato is not going to get an M7 licence, as their VF-X2 licence allows them to make stuff like the VF-22, VF-17, Full Armor VF-11 etc. It's not worth the money getting the M7 licence, just to be able to do the VF-19Kai/F/S/P. Graham
10. Gunpod size looks fine in the pics I've seen. Graham
11. Just found this thread and I'm up to page 3 so far. Boy... how do I miss this stuff? Anyways may I ask who the sculpt is by? Are the folks from I.H.P/Liquid Stone involved? If this has already been answered... just disregard, Carl 421951 No they are not, not with this sculpt. They were several years ago, but IIRC, their submission wasn't really practical to be turned into a toy. Graham
12. Sharks on a plane would be better IMO. Graham
13. I'm a bread man myself, never been into noodles. Graham
14. 50mm! That's one big round. Are you sure you don't mean .50 (as in half inch)? Graham
15. No need to panic guys. I can say with 120% certainty, that the VF-0A has not been scaled up to 1/48 and neither have the legs been redesigned to be detachable....LOL! It's safe to say that Image Anime is either a) being lazy, b) talking out of their collectives asses, c) have no idea about the products they are selling. Graham
16. Personally, I like to see the 1/60 YF-19 made in this color scheme and also this color scheme from the June 2002 issue of Model Graphix Magazine. Of course, I'd also like a VF-X2 Ravens version and a low-vis grey version. And David is correct, a VF-19Kai/S/F/P would require about 95% new tooling from the YF-19/VF-19A, making it effectively a new toy and a very expensive proposition for Yamato. Graham
17. More parts, and more molds than the 1/48 VF-1, so tooling costs were higher. Development time was also pretty long as well. It all adds up. Graham
18. Sorry to burst everybody's bubble, but I currently know of no plans to make an SDF-1. Or if there are plans, they haven't told me. Lots of other great stuff tho. Graham
19. What? No pics to back up that claim? 420565 Oh, there's pics, just can't show em. Graham (Torturing Macross fans since 1999)
20. B mode looks pretty hot as well. ;P Graham
21. G mode looks exquiste. Graham
22. my god, did you watch the animation they have? They have an F-16 actually DOCKING to a guide rail before the missiles are sent along a second rail to be loaded. That's freaking crazy. 420525 I guess they've been watching too much Macross Zero, especially Focker's aerial rearming scene with the gunpod. Graham
23. 417631 'Multi-dimensional Hornets'.....? That's one ability I didnt know they had! The US navy been installing Fold Boosters on them or something? Graham
24. Personally, I'm not happy about the use of stickers over Tampo printing. Graham
25. There's been some changes in the tail markings from what I was told a few months ago. Apparently, the VF-0A is not going to have any Tampo printing on the tails as according to HRH, there is no standard markings. Tail markings will now be supplied as optional stickers with both Rabbit & Skull markings. There will also be some other US Airforce or US Navy markings (if I understood correctly) on the sticker sheet, although whether they are for the tail fins or elsewhere on the plane, I'm not sure.
