It's perhaps not the wisest thing to admit to watching and liking Narutard on a public forum. It will come back to haunt you later in life. Graham

Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru Witch from Mercury
Graham replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Given that the only Gundam anime I really like is 0080, 08MST & CCA, is it worth me tracking down MS Igloo to watch? I sorta like the look of the big transforming tank thingy. Graham- 3606 replies

Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru Witch from Mercury
Graham replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Me for one. I think the Crossbones Gundams and their weapons look downright silly. I mean come on, a beam weapon styled after a flintlock pistol! I'd much rather see a Sentinel series. Graham- 3606 replies

Hah, they sound a real hoot. Graham

I actually don't like the look of a black YF-19. I'd much rather have a white & blue or white & orange Super Nova version than a black one. Graham

Do VF-0A/S with broken shoulders count as battle damage? Graham

IIRC, some of the VF-0A parked in the Asuka hanger or on the flight deck can be seen with either Skulls or Rabbits on the tails. Graham

Ditto. I've had problems with Kaiyodo and Maxfactory toys. Heck, I've even had problems with quite a few Bandai toys over the years, including breakage prone parts, missing parts and bad paint applications. Yamato is far from the only company with toys with the occasional problems. Heck, software developers are far worse than toy companies about releasing products before they are ready and properly tested. More often than not new software is bug-ridden right out of the box and requires multiple patches before they work. Graham

The computer and electronics super geek superthread...
Graham replied to EXO's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Vista? Yeah, I'll probably try that in about 5 years or so. Heck, I only just ugraded from Win98 to XP a year and a half ago......LOL! I'm definitely not one to jump on new things computer related. My motto. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Graham -
Yamato is not hiding information. The gunpod flaw was not known until I got probably one of the very first production toys, opened it and immediatly pointed it out to Yamato. By that time it was too late and the toys were already on their way to the various wholesalers. With the bundle set, Yamato was also not hiding anything either. The descision to release a bundle set was only made recently, i.e. about a month ago. Originaly it was not planned, but as soon as Yamato decided to do it, I got the news and announced it in my newsletter of Jan-14-2007. Graham

If you don't like the looks, or think it's too expensive, too light-weight, not enough gimmicks, or whatever. There's a simple solution.............................Don't buy it! Nobody is holding a gun to anybody's head and forcing them to spend their hard earned pennies on this. Graham

Back when Yamato released their 1/72 YF-19, there was lots of bitching and moaning about why there was no FAST Packs & Fold Booster. Same thing with the Hasegawa and Doyusha YF-19. So when Yamato listens to fan demand and decides to release a Fold Booster and FAST pack set, instead of being happy, what does everybody do? Yep, you guessed..................bitch and moan! Honestly, I think you guys are not happy unless you are complaining about something. I love the YF-19 and can't wait to get this accessory set. As for the Fold Booster looking like a dildo, that's not Yamato's fault, that's just the way Kawamori designed it. Graham

I think the 1/60 YF-19 looks great even unstickered and unpanel-lined. The minor issues don't seem to warrant the extreme amount of bitching and moaning going on here IMO. It's a great toy and I love all of mine. Graham

Usually with buying wholesale from Japan you will get between 30% to 35% off retail price. It doesn't vary more than that. I've also asked about this before. When a wholesaler buys from Yamato (or any toy manufacturer) they are also getting a further discount. I'm not sure how much it is, but let's say 30% to 40%. This means that Yamato is not getting mega bucks for each toy they sell. If a toy retails in Japan for US$100 for example, Yamato may only be selling it to the wholesaler for say US$40. Deduct the manufacturing cost from that and Yamato is only making a few bucks per toy. The money is always in the volume, but Yamato toys are not historically high volume items, with production runs being far smaller than popular franchises like Transformers & Gundam. Graham

Toynami Announces Masterpiece Cyclones at Toyfair
Graham replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The main problem with the Alphas IMO was poor parts fitting, which was due to CAD/CAM not being used, which led to asymetrical parts and poor parts fitting. Yamato also had this problem with the 1/72 Mac Plus toys and 1/60 VF-1 toys, which is why they switched to CAD for the 1/48 and everything that followed. I'm of the opinion, that complex transforming toys have to use CAD for the design, along with good quality durable materials. Graham -
Toynami Announces Masterpiece Cyclones at Toyfair
Graham replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The amount of negativity on the toy forums is getting so bad at the moment that I'm thinking of taking a break from posting of even reading the threads there for a few months and just confining my posting on Macrossworld to a select few threads in the other anime forum. While there are some genuine issues with some of the toys, the amount of whining, nitpicking, complaining and hating in many of the posts has just gotten so extreme that I'm no longer finding enjoyment when viewing the toy forum. In fact the opposite is true and it's just getting too depressing. Graham -
As I mentioned in my last interview with Yamato, it will be released in the middle of the year. Graham

Toynami Announces Masterpiece Cyclones at Toyfair
Graham replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
There seems to be a lot of negativity in this thread towards both Toynami and their MPC Cyclone, which I find a bit odd, considering the product isn't even out and nobody here has actually held a sample yet. To me it doesn't look too bad and if they can make it even slightly more durable than the old Gakken toy and add better articulation to the rider (my main dislkie of the Gakken), then I'll be happy. I thought most people here where happy with the QC on Toynami's 1/100 VF-1 toys, so I'm surprised that there are a lot of complaints about the QC. Hopefully, Toynami will start using CAD/CAM for design and manufacturing. Graham -

I'm going to be attending Wonder Festival in Tokyo on Sunday February 25th 2007. I'll make sure to take lots of pics of the Yamato 1/60 SV-51 which will be on display and any other interesting stuff I see. Then I'll produce a Blackaces-style report when I get back home. I'm going to be free on the evening Saturday 24th, so I'm just wondering if there are any Tokyo-based MWers that would like to get together for drinks & dinner? Graham
