Macross 25th Anniversary and Macross F/Frontier news thread III
Graham replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Guys, I've split the Macross Frontier page into two pages, one for text information and one for images, as it was getting too unwieldy. The new link to the gateway page is: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/Macros...ross_F_Main.htm Added today are a breaking news section and character info. Graham -

Just added 13 new screen grabs to the page. Some are similar to ones already on the page, but a bit clearer. Got a good pic of the VF-25's dual head laser from the side. Sorta reminds of the head lasers on the VF-19S. Can somebody please post a list of all the character's names again. Graham -

Not really. Based on what we have seen already, the combat scenes look like they could be excellent. Graham -

I just updated the Macross Frontier Page. Basically just added the staff info, separated the still images and magazine scans and added short titles to each pic. Graham -

Got the Macross Frontier Image Page just about done. can somebody check all the thumbnails go to the correct pics please. However, I can't figure out how to add the two You Tube clips in Dreamweaver. Just copying and pasting the embeded links in ou Tube doesn't seem to work. It's very rough at the moment. When I have time, I'll try to add headings for the pics. Sorry for not crediting everybody by name, but I ddn't have time to go through the old thread to figure out who posted what. Any suggestions what to add? Graham -
Hey, I didn't actually say anything. Just use common sense. Graham

They have been and gone to Hong Kong earlier this month. The film crew with Christopher Nolan and Morgan Freeman were in town for about 5 days and filmed around Central District. Filming also included a C-130 and some helicopters flying around Victoria Harbour. Graham

I'm wondering about one thing in the Macross universe guys ...

And of course, there is OTM - Over Technology of Macross, the advanced alien technology that mankind gleaned from the crashed Alien Star Ship 1 (ASS-1), AKA what was later rebuilt as the SDF-1. This is a great 'catch all', in that it allows everything to be explained away as advanced alien technology, without having to dig too deep into the actual practicalities of how something would really work with real world technology. I've got all the images so far saved on a folder on my hard drive and was thinking of puttting them together on a page. I'll see if I can start tonight. It shouldn't take long. Graham -
I've been pushing for a Super Nova-ish scheme for ages now. I say 'Super Nova-ish', as Yamato don't own the rights to use the Super Nova scheme. I'm also pushing for a Low Vis YF-19. There are indications that both may eventually happen. Graham
-
Not sure, but there may be a licensing issue regarding VF-X2 now. Perhaps Yamato didn't renew their license? I keep on trying to get the inside story, but they are a bit vague when I ask. Graham
-
That would require 95% all new tooling, basically it's a completely different toy and would be a big investment for Yamato. Graham
-
What do you think? First we had a 1/72 YF-19, followed by a 1/72 YF-21, followed by a 1/72 VF-11B. Now we have a 1/60 YF-19, soon to be followed by a 1/60 YF-21, later to be followed by...............................? I did say, production of these new cheaper toy lines will in no way impact production of the larger scale transforming toys. Graham

For wargaming, you'll probably best be serverd by the other new line. Graham

Hah, don't you know the real games only start after you are married! Graham, who erm.......celebrated(?) his 10th wedding anniversery this year. -
Yeah, very interesting read. The anime industry definitely needs a serious shake up. I will say that even though like most of us on this forum, I will download fansubs of Macross Frontier when it’s released, I fully intend to do the right thing and support the creators by buying the original Japanese R2 DVDs and if we are lucky enough to get an international release, I’ll buy those DVDs as well. But that’s just me, crazy Macross fan/collector, who likes having a good old fashioned physical disk. Graham

I'm hoping we get to see Gamlin in charge of the fleet, that would be cool. However, I've got a feeling Kawamori won't be revisiting any M7 characters here. Graham -
Heh, I like that pic and could probably see it happening, but not until after quite a few years when Mylene has had a chance to mature a bit. Graham
-
I've got no problem with the ending of M7 and I'm actually glad many threads were left unresolved. Much like real life, not everything gets wrapped up all nice and tidely all at once. Graham
-
Heh, Yamato still has a lot of cool stuff coming in 2008, which hasn't been announced yet.....stay tuned! Graham

Kawamori and Big West are well aware of the popularity of Macross outside of Japan. However, Big West have always seemed to me to be rather apathetic about the market outside of Japan. I know Yamato would love to be able to sell their Macross toys internationally, but they don't want the cost/hassle from the ensuing legal battle. Big West could probably afford the cost, as apparently they are quite wealthy, but they just don't seem to care that much, at least that's the impression I get. Perhaps with Frontier, things will change, especially if Bandai gets behind the push to market Frontier overseas. Graham -
Although the Mecha are the most important part of Macross for me, the music has always been a close second. I love pretty much all the music from Macross and have nearly every CD released, with the exception of some of the drama CDs. I would say the music of M7, Plus and DYRL are my favorites (in that order), with the music for Zero being my least favorite. IMO, Macross and sequels are one of those rare anime franchises, where all the parts (mecha, charas, story & music) just gel together perfectly. Graham

Who's to say the shoulders are not speakers? If the VF-19Kai can have speakers in it's shoulders, why not the VF-25 as well. Bomba! Graham
