  1. More questions are good at this early stage IMO. Keeps us guessing. Don't want things too predictable. As long as the questions get wrapped up by the end of the series though. It's a bit depressing to think we are already a quarter of the way through the series. It's so good, I just want it to go on and on for 100+ episodes! (if they can keep the same level of quality so far). Graham

    Macross Revoltech

Not really being a perfectionist. Just saying I think the exposed Revoltech joints, mostly the shoulder ones really spoil the look of these figures. It's perfectly possible to make an accurate looking, non-transforming mecha action figure with good articulation in the US$20-US$30 price range, without sticking these huge ball joints everywhere. Graham
  3. Damn Macross, always copying off of Robotech! Graham
  4. Hmm.......gotta study Luca's Ghosts in more detail and see if they are more than just cosmetically different to the NUNS Ghosts we saw in the Deculture edition. Here's a couple of screen captures of Luca's Ghosts. Don't have time to grab some pics of the NUNS Ghosts right now. Graham
  5. Renato started a thread about this already, where he posted full scans of the pages from 'Animation Note' magazine. Rentato has already stated that these are only early draft designs and it is noted in the text that the Regult type mecha is not likely to be used in Frontier. Graham

    Macross Revoltech

The Regults are great, bought 2. The Revoltech ball joints are really well hidden and don't stand out at all, unlike the VF-1. The only bad thing I have to say about the Regults is I've found the dark grey(black) paint on the guns and a few other places comes off quite easily, exposing the white PVC underneath. I'm still hating the Revoltech VF-1 toys though. Sorry, I don't understand how you guys think they look nice. You can't pose the nose cone and chest in a straight line, which means the figure looks like it has a permanent spinal deformity. The worse thing is that the revoltech shoulder, elbow and neck joints really stand out and look out of place, espcially the shoulder joints. The shoulder joints also position the shoulders far too high, making the VF-1, look like it's always hunching it's shoulders up. I like Revoltech's where the Revoltech joints are fairly unobtrusive and not too noticable, a good example being the Helldiver, but on the VF-1, the huge balls just look fugly, fugly, fugly IMO. 7. Don't you know about Renato? He walks around on his hands n' head 24/7! So for him, these are the right way up. Graham
  8. Yeah, this episode showed us that the VF-25 is pretty tough. Alto's VF-25 had it's right(?) wing tip blown off when he was approaching the Vajra carrier in fighter mode. Then once inside the carrier, he took the hit to the back, which completely blew off both wings. Next, IIRC he may have taken some hits to the arm shield (just going by memory), when he was shooting at the first yellow Vajra, resulting in no additional damage. Then he took the hit to the right arm, which disabled it, but didn't blow it off. Then he took the hit which completely destroyed the head. Lastly, after he'd transformed to Gerwalk, the 2nd Yellow Vajra used it's tail spike to destroy the VF-25 Gerwalk. Graham
  9. I think you could be right. Actually, Grace is pretty hot. Graham
  10. Bring back Firefly! Graham
  11. Thought it was great how the VB-6 took several hits in Shuttle mode, but just shrugged them off. Graham
  12. Random musings on episode 7. I watched the raw of episode 7, 4 times over the weekend, plus spent lots of time viewing the various action scenes in slow motion. I gotta say, “Wow!” what an episode. Absolutely outstanding action and animation. The story gets carried forward nicely with more twists and questions. I can’t believe 4 people voted negative in the polls. Well, if this episode doesn’t impress them, nothing will. Glad to see the regular animation studio (Nara?) back on character art duties. Heh, I noticed that the electrical arcing is back again during some of the VF-25 transformation sequences (Mikhail’s VF-25). I’m really loving the ultra-fast transformation capability of the VF-25. Loved seeing Alto sneaking around in Battroid inside the Vajra Carrier. That was a really tense fight he had against the 2 yellow Vajra inside the carrier. Brilliantly animated and choreographed. Bobby was awesome, as was the Macross Quarter. Ozma also kicked some serious ass. As others have mentioned, it was nice to see the beam guns in action on Ozma’s armoured VF-25 and also Alto using the wing root beam guns to blast into the Vajra carrier. I really want to see some line art of those new Destroids. Definitely a strong Cheyenne resemblance there. Cheyenne II perhaps? The only minor complaint I have about this episode is that Sheryl’s face really didn’t look like Sheryl when she was doing the last song, wearing the red dress with black (dark blue?) hair. I’m guessing this was supposed to be some sort of Minmay look? Perhaps her face was also altered by hologram technology for this song. Hope we don’t have to wait too long before the next action episode. My favorite non-mecha shot from the episode below. Graham
  13. Hmm......finished downloading, it , but can't get it to play with either VLC player or Media Player Classic. Yes, I have CCCP installed, so don't usually have an problems. Graham
  14. I don't know for sure if it is subbed, as I am still downloading it. Go to the Tokyoshoto site and enter 'Macross Fronter 07' in the search box. It comes up as the first item in the search results. And it has an "English" icon next to it, instead of a "Raw" icon. Graham
  15. I noticed that Grace also has a weird pattern on her eyes. Perhaps something to do with her cybernetic implants. Or maybe, it's jsut the animators drwing her pupils in a stylized way. Graham
  16. There is apparently an English sub of ep 7 up on Tokyotosho now from a groupl called POPGO FREEWIND. Never heard of them, but I'm downloading it now. Graham
  17. Yep, the VF-25 has two wing root beam guns and if you slow the video down, you can see Alto using them when he blasts his into the hull of the Vajra carrier. Graham
  18. Renato, can you do a scan of the cover please, so I know what to look for. I've neaver heard of this magazione before, but want to try to find a copy. Graham
  19. Judging from the price point, it's likely that these will be be HG tech rather than MG tech. Hopefully in about 3-4 years, Hasegaw will get a shot at the licence. A Hasegawa VF-15 Fighter and Battroid would be a thing of awesome beauty. Graham
  20. anbody know if any of the raws have the eyecatch yet? I'm not sure if I trust the Compendium 100% anymore, now that it's gone Wiki. GRaham
  21. I'd love a closer look at the Kawamori line art of various parts of the VF-25 that you can see in some of the photos. Graham
  22. As much as I'd love to see Yamato have a shot at the 1/60 toys, cus' we know the detail would be good, and they would make all variations. I'm pretty confident that Bandai will do a pretty good job with their 1/60. Just hope they release more than the Aolto and Ozma versions though. I wouldn't worry too much about the 1/60 Bandai DX battroid photo shown. It's probably of a very early concept model and I bet the oddly shaped groin will be changed for the final version. Graham
  23. People are throwing the term "Master Grade" around, but is there any confirmation that this is indeed an MG kit? Graham
