  1. Looks like it's going to focus more on the characters rather than the mecha though. Graham
  2. Just reading Sketchley's translation of the Grea Mechanics DX 6 article and he translates the ISC as "Inertia Store Converter", which implies to me that the system somehow stores inertia and converts it into something else. Some form of energy perhaps? Perhaps the green lighting we sometmes see when the VF-25 transforms is energy bleed off from the ISC? Graham
  3. If we were at the start of the series, I'd agree with you and would have no problem with fansub groups dropping the series and waiting for the official release, even if it takes a year or more. But, as we are only one week to go until the final episode and most of us have already downloaded and watched the first 23 episodes on fansubs, I don't find it hypocritical wanting to see the remaining final 2 episoded fan subbed. And yes, I am buying the original Japanese R2 DVDs to support the creators (even though I don't speack a lick of Japanese) and I will buy an original R1 release if we are lucky enough to get one. Graham
  4. Yes true, but Shinsei Industry as a corporate entity did not exist before 2012. Graham
  5. Apart from clear armour parts and option weapons set for the PG Zaku and PG RX-78, what other kits has Bandai released just a weapons or armour pack, not including the base robot? IIRC (and I may be wrong), even the MS that had multiple weapons pack options such as the Force Impulse Gundam, Strike Gundam and the Destiny Zakus were all released robot+ weapon pack together, never just the weapon pack by itself. Even the ISWP came with the Strike Gundam IIRC not just by itself. Graham
  6. Arghhhh, how about not stiring the pot until after the show has ended and we've already got our fansubs. Graham
  7. AFAIK, Shinsei Industry DID NOT make the VF-0 and VF-1, unless this is a recent retcon. Shinsei industry was not even formed until 2012 when the aerospace development divisions of Shinnakasu Heavy Industry and Stonewell Bellcom merged. Shinsei Industry's first project was the VF-5000. I notice that the Macross Compendium now does mention Shinsei on both the VF-1 and VF-0 pages, but I'm pretty sure it didn't use to. I'm gonna have to check my old hard-copy print outs of the Compendium, printed before it went Wiki, cus' I'm pretty sure Shinsei wasn't previously listed on the VF-1 and VF-0 pages. Definitely not recommending or trusting the Compendium as much as I used to. Graham
  8. I'm gonna bet the ICS is some sort of Overtechnology derived system to allow the pilots to withstand high g-forces. It doesn't make sense to build a VF with such a high thrust to weight ratio if there is no way for your pilots to withstand it. I imagine it's some sort of refinement of the gravity control system. Afterall, mankind has had 60 years to experiment on and refine the systems they discovered in the ASS-1. If we can accept transforming planes, fold space, Pin Point Barriers, 60 foot humanoid aliens, etc accepting an inertial cancelling or damping system is not such a stretch IMO. I did read a hard military sci-fi book recently, which had a fairly plausible explanation for an inertial cancelling system (inertial sump?). Although in a fighter sized craft it was limited to how much it could acctually reduce inertia. I forget the title and author. Have to try to dig it up when I get home. And the term "real sci-fi explanation" made me chuckle. Graham
  9. No news about any of the above. If Bandai does release 1/72 kits of the Super and Armoured Packs, I bet it will be together with the VF-25, not separate. Graham
  10. I guess the interial control system is somehow integrated with the Ex-Gear. Graham
  11. It would be great if it gets an official English subbed release outside of Japan. I'll definitely buy it. Just let the fansubbers finish eps 24 & 25 first. Graham
  12. I just picked it up as well Sketchley and it's DX 6, not DX 10. Ya nearly made me miss it going around asking for the wrong issue....LOL! For the VF-171EX fans, here's a scan of the VF-171EX with and without FAST Packs and extra weapons from Great Mechanics DX 6 Graham
  13. Scans of the kit's instructions are out (check the 1/72 VF-25 thread in the model forum), but it looks like no stats unfortunately. I was also hoping for some stats and nice lineart like you get with some of the Gundam MG kits, but no luck. Graham
  14. Just checked all the hobby shops in Wanchai and Causeway Bay districts, but it ain't out here in Hong Kong yet. Graham
  15. Danny and Jimmy......who? Graham (who's just jealous, cus' I can't make a living of MW)
  16. IMO, looks nothing like a Gallant. Graham
  17. If you can't get the FAST packs to attach, then you are probably not doing it right. Graham
  18. Ah, I'd forgotten about that. Graham
  19. We don't have the technology now, but then again we don't have the benefit of Over Technology and advanced materials gleaned from the crashed ASS-1. Graham
  20. , Head laser I guess, although to be honest, I never really noticed the head laser on the VF-27 before. These are either the wing root/hip guns or the guns in the outboard engine nacelles. Not sure which. The reference to 'beam grenade' puzzles me. These are the ports that are clearly visible on the outboard engine nacelles. These have also clearly vbeen shown firing missiles in at least one episode. Hmm.....no mention of the inbuilt shield spike/knife. As Sketchly mentioned, the stats seem far from complete. Hopefully, more info will be forthcoming soon. Graham
  21. These are obviosly the head lasers. I'm guessing these are the wing root/hip guns. Interesting that there is a choice of weapons here. Interesting choice of caliber. No mention of the rate of fire, ammo capacity or whether it can use detachable ammo magazines? Good, confirmation that the guns use MDE ammo, not just the missiles. I'm guessing this is something to help the pilots withstand the high gs. Heh, I've posted several times previous in the last few years hat I think next-gen VFs would have some sort of inertial damper system to help pilots withstand high g-forces. Hmmm....no mention of the VF-25's ability to mount wing mounted ordnance? Although we never see them mounting missiles on the wings in the series, we did see it in the first promo clip and 3 attachment points per wing are clearly shown. Graham
  22. Interesting theory. Graham
  23. The Super & Strike parts (AKA FAST Packs), were only designed to be used on the VF-1 for use in space, where lift is not an issue. They were not designed for use in an atmosphere. Anyway, as long as there is sufficient thrust, I'd imagine that drag would be more of a problem than lift as the VF-1's FAST packs were not exactly aerodynamic. Later VFs, such as the VF-11C, VF-19F/S and VF-17D/S had more aerodynamic FAST packs which could be used in an atmosphere (see M7 ep # 44 Operation Stargazer). Graham
  24. The October issues's been out more than three weeks already! The November issue will be out in about 6 more days. I'll have to dig up my copy of the October issue to check what was in it. IIRC, I don't think there was too much news and either me or somebody else probably posted scans already about three weeks ago anyway. Graham
  25. Guys, stay on topic please. This thread is purely to discuss the upcoming Bandai 1/60 scale DX VF-25 toys, NOT to talk about the use of CG in the Macross Zero movie. Graham
