Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
Graham replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The strange thing is that most model shops usually stock some of the Macross Hasegawa kits along with some of the older Bandai Macross kits. Many toy or hobby shops stock Yamato Macross toys and some stock teh Bandai reissues. Remembering back to 1995 when the Macross 7 1/144 and 1/100 models came out, there was no delay then. I've seen a few model shops here in HK with fliers in the windows advertising the VF-25F. While Gundam is more popular here, I think the reason for the delay may be the high demand for the VF-25F kit in Japan, rather than lack of interest in HK. Graham -

Damn, still no luck tracking down the elusive VF-25F kit here in HK. I just went back to the model shop that last week had told me they would be getting it in today, only to be told that it has been delayed 1 more week until October 4. Hong Kong is really getting shafted on these kits which is quite unusual. We usually get stuff ultra-fast. I wonder if Bandai is following the licencing agreement and not offivcial exporting the kits to HK, so that only parallel imports will make their way to HK. Or perhaps Bandai HK thinks that HK people only like Guncrap (which is probably true for 99.99%). Graham -

Sketchley, both HJ and DH are usually on the hobby store shelves here on the 23rd or 24th of each month. I understand in Japan the release date is supposed to be 25th or 26th, which makes me wonder if they are actually printed in southern China, and not Japan, thus shorter travel time to HK vs. Japan and slightly earlier release date. That means you probably just haven't figured out how to attach them correctly. Once they are on properly, they ain't falling off. Graham -

There are ways to have telescopic gears with a locking mechanism. Graham -

For those that have been saying the front landing gear is too long on this kit, take a look at the attached official picture from the booklet that comes with DVD # 2. Long and slender it is. Graham -

Note how long and slender the front landing gear is supposed to be, according to the official pics in the booklet that comes with the Frontier DVD # 2. See attached pic. Bandai got it right with the 1/72 scale model. They really need to improve the landing gear for the 1/60. Make it telescopic if necessary, but make it longer! Graham -

Just received Frontier DVD # 2 from amazon jp and the booklet has a lot of CG art of the VF-25S, including pictures with dimensions. Hopefully this will settle the height debate. Note, just like the model kit, the landing gear is supposed to be long. See attached pic. Graham -

Just finished the first viewing together with my son. Epic & awesome are two words that come to mind. The perfect ending to a perfect series. It couldn't have been any better. It's been a fantastic 25 weeks. Can't wait for the movie. Graham -

I'm actually OK with having no articulated hands. The fixed pose hands will be better for holding the weapons securely anyway. I've never though that Bandai could make articulated hands that can hold weapons securely. And yes, I've owned a lot of MG and some PG kits over the years and while the hands are nicely articulated and look good, they were generally crap at holding things well IMO. Bandai articulated hands = overated IMO. Graham -

Improvements I'd like to see: - 1) Make the 4 x nose sensors transuscent plastic like Yamato does, not just have them as painted on indentations in the plastic. 2) Give the landing gear more detail, especially the rear gear. 3) Make both front and rear landing gear telescoping to increase length. They are too damn short now. 4) I hope the knee can bend forward more than is shown for Gerwalk mode. If not, the knee articulation needs to be greatly improved. 5) Lets have some holes in the end of the gunpod barrels please. Graham -

Thanks for the pics mickayesou. It's starting to look better, although the landing gear still sucks (too short and lacking detail), especially the rear landing gear. Graham -

I really hope the movie is all new footage, not a clip compilation show using existing footage. However, If they want to retell the story, ala DYRL I'm fine with that as long as it's all new footage. Of course, a movie showing what happens after the events of episode 25 would be best IMO. I wanna see an Ozma and Cathy wedding. I really hate those compilation clip movies that Sunrise like to do for the Gundam TV series, I find them completely unwatchable. Tried to watch the Turn A clip compilation movies, and it was like WTF, they were just jumping from scene to scene really fast and nothing made sense, no continuity at all. Graham -
