I really don't understand how some of you guys have gotten through the game so quickly? Do you not have jobs, wives, kids, families, not need to sleep, not need to eat, not need to take potty breaks etc? I picked my copy up on Thursday, but because of commitments to work, family and friends, I've only had a grand total of about 3 hours to devote to the game so far in the last two and a half days! Does my time management really suck, or do you guys just live for gaming at the exclusion of all else? Sometimes when I read on the forums about the amount of anime some of you guys have time to watch or the amount of gaming you do, I think that either a) I've forgotten what it was like to be young, free and single or b) you guys all live in a parallel dimesion where there are 48 hours in a day. Graham - very jealous and feeling like the old, middle aged, married fart I am.

That's not a green stand! It's grey, well sort of bluish-gey actually, but definitely not green. Graham

I've yet to get the wing root guns (parts B14 & B15) to sit properly in fighter mode. The right side gap is much bigger than the left side on my kit. In fact I can't even get the right side gun to sit at the correct angle and I'm not sure why. Graham -
No playable VF-27 either? Graham

I'd really like to know do newer, less selective fans prefer a chunky or something more anime accurate? For me whenever I buy a toy, whether it's Macross or any other anime, I always want the toy as detailed and accurate as possible. Graham -
Starting playing the Macross 7 missions last night after working my way through all the tutorials. Only had time for the first mission, and only scored a 'B'. Guess I gotta try harder. I noticed that the model for teh VF-11C Super has a mistake, as the tail fins are in the out position, instead of being folded inside the legs like they should be when the FAST packs are fitted. Cool game so far, but I'm still upset there is no Super or Armoured VF-25. Graham

While a bit off topic, only one day after buying my PSP and I've already converted all 25 episodes of the Lunar Subs .avi version of Macross Frontier to MP4 format and uploaded them to my PSP, so I can now watch Frontier on the move. Also uploaded the two Frontier OSTs. My PSP is a lean mean Frontier machine! Graham

Really no Armored or Super Packs for the VF-25 in the game? They were used more often than not in the series. Graham

I notice on the latest pic of the VF-25F Alto Battroid (attached) that there appears to be no surface detail on the inside of the backplate. Look at the photo and you can see it looks devoide of detail. This is in sharp contrast to the model kit which has that area chock full of detail, as per Kawamori-sans published lineart. Graham -

For the visor, I just used a metallic green Gundam marker to paint on the inside of the visor. The marker's nib was actually too thick to go all the way down inside the visor, so I had to keep pushing down on the marker to get excess paint to come out and then let it rool down into the parts of the visor I couldn't reach. I think the result came out pretty well. I think any metallic green paint on the insiode of the visor should work fine. For panel lining, I clipped the parts off the sprue first and then panel lined them before assembly. I lined the unpainted bare white plastic and just used the thinnest Gundam marker I could find (0.1mm IIRC), which was still too thick. I then spent ages rubbing the excess ink off with my fingers, wich IMO actually worked pretty well. That's what worked for me. milage may vary. I wasn't going for a professional build, just something that looked good with the minimal amount of paint possible. Graham -
Very useful Sorata. Thanks. Graham

OK, spent an hour on the bus this morning while travelling to work getting to grips with the game. Currently going through the tutorial missions. The VF-171 is a blast. A couple of questions: - 1) I went to the custom controls screen and changed the direction controls from the D-pad to the joystick, but when I play the tutorial mission, directional control reverts back to the default D-pad settings. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? I haven’t tried to see if the custom control settings work in the proper missions yet. 2) On the screen for customizing the color of your Valk, on the left side of the screen there are three different sections numbered 1,2 & 3 for changing the color. No. 1 changes the main color of the Valk. What do 2 & 3 do? Graham

Just picked up a slim PSP and the game. The girl in the shop said it had IIRC 3.95 firmware, but when I put in the game to play, the PSP wouldn't let me play it and told me I needed to install 4.05, which it did automatically after I selected yes. Bear in mind, I'm a total PSP newbie and know nothing about the various firmwares. Hope I didn't do anything too wrong? Anyway, although I've played all the Japanese Macross games before without trouble, I did feel a bit intimidated by all the Japanese text in the menus. I hope somebody will be able to provide translations soon. I wasn't able to find the tutorial mode, that people have been talking about, but I tried something called freeplay. No idea what was happening. There seemed to be 4 Valks in the play area. I just flew around for a while without shooting anything and without being shot and then the game just ended......huh? Confused!!!!!! Only had like 15 minutes to play. Hopefully I'll be able to puzzle it out tomorrow. Graham

Who was your favourite Macross Frontier character?
Graham replied to taksraven's topic in Movies and TV Series
It was a tough choice between Ozma and Sheryl, but I voted Ozma in the end. If it was a pool for best male ad best female character, Sheyrl would win my vote for best female. I also think it's funny that no one has voted for Ozma yet. Err......and who is Tehmzin? Was it the Zentradi in the green Q-Rea that ended up getting knifed by Alto? Graham -

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models

I wouldn't describe the kit as flimsy. For a model kit, it's actually pretty sturdy, but of course should still be treated with care and as a model kit, not as a toy. I've found that it locks together very well in Battroid and Gerwalk mode. Where there are problems IMO is in fighter mode, as there are no locking tabs to lock the legs and wing gloves in place, so these tend to move out of pisition very easily when handling the kit. Also on my kit, the wing root lasers to not want to stay in place, leving huge gaps. Still trying to determine the cause of this. This is the first kit I have built since 2002 and it did give me a lot of satisfaction. Graham -

Yes, there are stickers for the tail fins, as follows: - Sticker list per tail fin 1) 1 x white sticker for the leading edge of the tail fin. 2) 4 x white stickers for the 2 x white stripes on both side of the tail. 3) 1 x red sticker for the top and trailing edges of the tail fin. This sticker also wraps around the top rear tail spike. As I mentioned in my post above, on my kit, the sticker didn't want to stay wrapped around the tail spike, so I just used a scaple and trimmed off that small part of the sticker, leving the tail spike bare. Most of the stickers have no border, so no trimming is needed. The only stickers that I've found do need a bit of trimming are the small '007' and 'SMS' that go on the shoulders. If you don't trim them, they overlap the red and black shoulder sticker. Of couse you can just stick the 'SMS' & '007' on first, before the red and black sticker, which is what I should have done, so that the red and black sticker overlaps the edges of the 'SMS' & '007', which is what I should have done. The stickers are for the most part excellent. Very thin and adhere well. As mentioned, no border. Applying them can be tricky. You obviously need to take care to get then in the correct position first time as you do not want to be pulling them off and repositioning them too many times, or they will lose their stickiness. The only stickers that have given me a problem are the two small red diamonds on the sides of the LERX, they don't adhere well due to the sharpe chine and small size of the stickers and also the red sticker that goes near the muzzle of the gunpod. This also doesn't want to stay stuck. Oh, on the stickers for the tail fins, I ended up trimming of the red parts that are suppoosed to wraop around the tail spike on the top rear of the tail fins as the stickers also didn't want to stay wrapped around. Probably easier to paint that spike red. Graham -
But IIRC, unlike Battle Galaxy's gun, which was completly destroyed, I think Quarter and Frontier's main guns were just damaged. So they probably recovered them for the landing on the planet. No point leaving them floating in space, when they can be taken down to the planet and repaired. Graham

Given the popularity of Frontier, there is always still the possibility we might get a second season, perhaps after the movie, but for now the creators are not telling. Graham -

Here's a more pics of mine, this time in Gerwalk mode. You can actually get a reasonable 'A' stance with this kit. I used the stickers on mine instead of the decals. I'm regretting not painting the underside of the nose sensors blue when I was building it. Too late now. Still have to paint Alto. Graham
