Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
Graham replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just from the ankles, I'm pretty sure that that VF-25S is the 1/60. Graham -
I hope you plan to buy an original copy of the game as well, to support Macross. Graham

Not only works for iPhone. I'm using it as wallpaper on my Nokia 6300. Graham

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.2

I can understand Bandai's use of diecast for the ankles as extra weight down there should hopefully help with balance and stability, especially with Super Packs (assuming also that ankle, knee and hip joints are up to the task). The use of diecast for the hip/intake section and biceps seems somewhat arbitrary. I get the feeling they used diescast there just for the sake of using diecast, not beacuse it's really needed. The December issues of Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby should be out today. I'm planning to pick them up during my lunch break later today. If there are any new pics, I'll scan and post them. Graham -
Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread III *Read 1st Post*

Regarding the inconsistencies on how fold space and entering/departing fold space is shown in the various Macross animes. It could be there are different types of fold drive technology used in the Macross universe. They all get you from A to B, but each type does it slightly differently. Afterall, mankind has had 60 years to study, tinker with and perhaps improve on the original fold technolgy found in the ASS-1, so it wouldn't surprise me if some changes or improvements to the original technology have been made during this time. Thought I'd mention this as a possible 'in universe' explanation, as nobody seems to have considered it. Graham -
The GNU super robot toys all have those internal frames. I have several. They have space to fit them due to their blocky 70s' super robot styling. The Macross GNUs have insufficient space for those frames. Graham

Yamato had the sense to realize long ago that an exceess of metal parts and transforming toys do not make a good combination. Not only is paint chipping/scraping prevelant, but you inevitably get a mismatched colors between the painted diecast parts and the plastic parts. Too much diecast can also add too much weight where not needed and increase wear and stress on connecting pegs and joints. IMO on transforming toys metal (steel, not zinc pot metal) should be used only where needed for strength, such as on some joints, swing bars etc. On a bright shiny non-transforming 70s' suber robot toy, lots of diecast is fine, but as soon as you start talking transforming or combining toys, paint chips will happen. I imagine the diecast hip/ointacke section will be quite susceptable to paint chipping/scraping. Graham -

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III

Heh, I did actually read that before, but my brain somehow processed the info that it was an old post referring to January 2008. Don't ask! Graham -
I spoke with somebody from Yamato Hong Kong yesterday (although Yamato Japan are still not talking to me). Regarding recent delays, apparently the Japanese government is now demanding some sort of additional certification on toys manufactured in China. This means that new toys have to go through additional testing by an independant lab to get certified. I'm not sure on the nature of the testing, but what I was told is that there are only a limited number of labs doing this type of testing and certification and there is a big backlog as all the toy factories in southern China need to get their toys certified before they can be exported to Japan. My request for a MAF sequel. Get rid of all the cheezy non-Macross BGM and replace it all with genuine Macross music. There is enough genuine Macross instumental BGM and songs from all the various Macross animes that could be used, without having to resort to made up cheezy game music. While MAF does have some Macross songs, I'd rather listen to all Macross music all the time while playing. Graham

Ah thanks for the tip. I had no idea that the d-pad worked in conjuction with the R-trigger for targetting. I was purely using the R-trigger only. Graham

Damn, that's going to be hard. I still can't figure out how to move all three crates from the crater to the green area in that early M7 mission. One crate I can do if I'm fast and lucky, but there is no way to get the other crates before the swarms of Fz-109s arrive and mess up your targetting, making it impossible to pick up the other two crates. MechTech, not sure if this has been mentioned already, as I haven't been following this thread too closely, but have you considered the Yamato 1/200 scale Variable Fighter Collection (VFC) for the deck of your Daedalus? See: - Yamato 1/200 Macross VFC - Series # 1. Yamato 1/200 Macross VFC - Series # 2. You would however need to scratch build some landing gear for the Fighters, as they do not have any. Graham

I have both of these books and they are well worth it if you are a fan of Studio Nue's designs. If you are only interesetd in Macross and already own Perfect Memory and the Gold book or Macross Design Works, then no, they are probably not worth it. But if however, you are interested in the large number non-Macross of designs done by Studio Nue, the books are well worth it. Graham

Heh, Bandai stick the 'DX' name on anything. I mean the Macross 7 1/65 scale DX VF-19Kai, VF-19S and VF-17S/D were hardly worthy of a 'Deluxe' title either. Graham -

That's cus' the VF-1 is a much smaller mecha than the VF-19. Graham -
Can somebody remind me, when do the stat limiters come off, so we can boost the mechs stats above their normal limits. Heh, Spiritia absorbing beam is great, but not easy to aim. Graham
