I freely admit it. When I first saw the Unicorn in closed mode, I was like wow, a decent looking Gundam and they've actually had the courage to break away from the V-fin and tradtional Gundam type face.................................but no, then I discover that the head opens and .........yawn......same ol' Gundam face and V-fin. Thanks Renato. Your interpretation is exactly what I've always thought. The anmation does clearly show it as a standard gunpod most of the tim, acceopt when the adaptor is fitted. I'd forgotten about the games. I agree it is odd (and always greatly disappointed me when playing), that the VF-17's gun was a beam weapon. Graham

How often do you watch Macross or Macross-related media?
Graham replied to Vepariga's topic in Movies and TV Series
Hmmm.............interesting question. The answer is not as much as I used to. These days, I probably rewatch Macross 7 in it's entirety once every 2 to 3 years. Same goes for Plus, Zero and II. SDF TV series, probably once every 4 to 5 years. DYRL, usually once a year. When Frontier was airing, I watched each episode at least 6 times, some as many as 12 times! Now, I occasionally watch an episode or two now and again, but no plans to watch the whole series all the way through for at least a couple of years, as I've watched each episode so often. Need to let it fade in my mind a bit first. Graham -
No............remaking it as an action movie.....Grrrrrr. Graham

The Unicorn Gundam is actually one of the few Mobile Suits that I actually like the design of, but only in it's closed mode. I really don't like the open AKA 'diseased running sores' look. Graham

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Toys & Models.
Graham replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I have the Joyride Studios Colonial Viper and Cylon Raider toys, which people have said are based on old model kits, but I'm not sure. OK, toys. size is similar to the old Starwars Action Fleet toys, but quality is not quite as good. The Vipers wings are constantly falling off and so are the tripple thrusters. Also, the two toys are not really in scale with each other. Graham -
I'm cautiously optimistic about a Robert Rodriguez Predator movie. Just have to wait and see. But a Cliffhanger remake!!!! WTF are they thinking? Graham

Hey, leave Roger Corman alone. Death Race 2000 is one of the best dystopian future movies of the 70s. Graham -

If they released DX toys of the VF-25's from 'All That VF', I'd probably buy them. Graham -
Yamato could do a better 19 now if they wanted to and certainly reduce the gullet size. However, the 19 is one of the most difficult VFs to create as a transforming toy and strike a good balance between fighter and battroid modes. Too much anime magic in Kawamori's original line art. Graham

Guppy, Nice to see you back. Haven't seen you in these parts for ages (years?). Really, wait for the Armoured Ozma, it will have the improved (longer) neck and improved (straighter) head lasers. The first release of the standalone Ozma VF-25S has a neck that is far too short (doesn't look good in battroid mode and warped too thin head lasers. If you really can't wait, get the VF-25F Alto, VF-25G Michael or RVF-25 Luca, they are good to go. Graham -

Definitely prefer DYRL, for the gorgeous animation and improved character and mecha designs. Graham

Finally got round to taking my reissue VF-25F out of the box and transforming it to battroid mode last night and here’s what I found: - The crotch lock seems tighter than what I remember from my first issue Alto when it was new. On the reissue, it locked in place with a definite click. Hopefully it will be able to hold up to the weight of the Super Parts better than my first issue, which unlocks very easily. Only time will tell how it stands up to repeated transformations, but I don’t plan to transform it as much as my first release anyway. No noticeable difference with the angle of the head lasers. Can’t get them to angle out more and not going to risk pulling them excessively either. No noticeable difference with the neck, but that is OK, as I think the neck is fine anyway on the VF-25F. The hands are now glued together, no more having to glue the two pieces together like on the first issue. The ball and socket connection of the hands to the writs seems much tighter on the reissue. On the first issue, the vF-25F, could not hold the gunpod horizontal with just one hand, it would always droop down. On my reissue, it can hold the gunpod straight in one hand with no droop. Didn't notice much difference with the angle of the wings in fighter mode between first issue and the reissue. If there is a difference, it is minimal. Graham -

Questions about the Macross F Sketch Books
Graham replied to TwinkiePlatter's topic in Movies and TV Series
I have the first issue of the Macross F Official Creators Magazine and it has cutaway lineart of the VF-25F in fighter mode that I have not seen published anywhere else. Worth it just for the price of that one pic. I keep meaning to scan and post it. Graham -
Looks great. Good job. Graham

Never realised that the beam pod adaptor possibly fitted over the muzzle of the regular gunpod. I always thought it just sat exactly in place of the regular magazine. Makes sense then that it can be considered the equivalent of an add on single-shot grenade launcher. Graham
-
I still think the VF-17's gunpod comprises both beam weapon (with adaptor fitted only) and cannon, but obviously, the beam weapon component will not fire without the adaptor fitted, thus implying that the power source and possibly the majority of the components for the beam weapon are actually in the adaptor. I don't think the beam fires through the standard cannon barrels. However, the beam does seem to fire from the front of the gunpod, hence my theory that the two protruding prongs at the muzzle are actually part of the beam emitting mechanism. Graham

And if they had more mechanical hands, then no doubt somebody else would be complaining that hey are not 'anime accurate' to the TV series. Graham
