Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5
Graham replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Here's some pics of Alto's VF-25F in fighter mode, with Super Fold Booster (AKA Pink Foldildo), Super Packs and Reaction missiles. Also a couple of pics of Ozma's VF-25S Super with Missiles mounted and Luca's RVF-25 Super with missiles mounted. Enjoy! Graham -
Guys, after completing the SDFM missions, there’s a few extra missions where you get to play as either a Regult, Glaug or Zentradi soldier. On one of these missions, a daylight land mission, there are 4 containers scattered over the landscape. Are you supposed to pick them up and take them somewhere, or destroy them? I’ve been destroying them, as the enemy (some Destroids and VF-1As) don’t appear until you destroy the containers and also there is no green ‘drop off’ area marked on the map as is usual with container missions. Thing is, no matter how quick I destroy the containers and how quick I destroy the enemy, the best grade I can get on this mission is 'D’. What am I doing wrong and what should I be doing different? Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
Graham replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
The book lists a total of 5,459 VF-1s made in 17 production blocks from 2006 to 2013. The totals per type are: - VF-1A = 5,093 VF-1D = 85 VF-1J = 49 VF-1S = 30 VF-1G = 12 VE-1 = 122 VT-1 = 68 The book list the type built per year, per block and also lists serial number range. Only very small numbers of Blocks 1-3 were built in 2006 and 2007. Presumably these were all test machines. However, the 2006 date contradicts the 2007 first flight date given in the Compendium. It’s not until block 4 (also 2007), that serious numbers (a few hundred) are built. As of 2009 (start of Space War 1), the book lists 19 VF-1S as being built. As others have mentioned, the VF-1G appears to be a retcon of the VEFR-1 “Funny Chinese”, which is not mentioned in the book. Neither is the VF-1B “Half-S” retrofit mentioned. Graham -
How much is the Bandai Elintseeker 1984 Valkyrie MISB worth?

Next person who mentions the "R" word when talking about the VE-1 gets a 100 year ban. -
No, the 1/60 VF-1 are all made in the same factory. I spoke with Yamato yesterday about the difference in tampo printing and they said that basically they are experimenting with each release to see what looks best. I told them the 'more is better' approach is the best. Anyway, I just picked up the new cannon fodder VF-1A TV type and noticed that it has "Prometheus" tampo printed on the tail fins. Way cool. That to me makes up for the loss of the other small markings. Graham

Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
Graham replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'm still at work, so don't have the book in front of me, but IIRC, it lists a total of around 5,950 VF-1s produced up to 2015. The Valks are listed in quantity produced by year and by Block number. The majority are VF-1A, but there is a larger than expected number of VF-1D, VT-1 & VE-1 produced. Graham -

I don't have the book in front of me now, but IIRC, it was only a total of 30 VF-1S produced. Graham -

Also nice to finally confirm that the VF-1 does have smoke, chaff and flare dispensors and to know where they are located. Graham -

Loving the info on the totaol number of VF-1 produced. Far fewer VF-1S made than I expected and loads more VF-1A. Graham -
Ditto, before I found shops selling Macross Chronicle locally, I ordered it from HMV Japan. In fact today I just ordered two more Chronicle binders from them. Graham

The Alien/Predator/Aliens vs. Predator Thread
Graham replied to VT 1010's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think after Aliens, a lot of people, myself included, were expecting the 3rd movie to be even bigger in scale and be a direct continuation of the second movie, and focusing on what happens when the Aliens finally make it to Earth. It was also expected that the 3rd movie would continue to feature Hicks and perhaps Newt together with Ripley, struggling to escape an Earth rapidly being taken over by the Aliens. Instead, the 3rd movie was a step backwards in many ways, being much smaller in scale and directed by at that time a 'no-name' director whose only experience was pop-music videos IIRC. Graham -
How does one go about upgrading firmware on a PSP? Do you have to take it into a Sony Pro Shop and they do it for you? Graham

Yeah, also pretty sure the Armoured VF-25S will come with a stand. For those in HK, I saw the big Animate branch in Mong Kok (the one on 1/F opposite CTMA Center) had the Ghost and Fold Booster sets in stock for HK$599 (US$76.80) each. IMO, Ghost + weapons set = much cooler than pink foldildo and speakers. My one concern about the weapons though is that the overwing clip may scratch the black stripe on the wing. Graham -

The Ghost is great. Really detailed with lots of panel lines and all the markings printed/painted on. Also uses green translucent plastic parts for the sensors. Graham -

Can confirm the Fold Booster can fit on version 1 toys that don't have the additional holes. It attatches by 2 pegs that plug into the holes used to attatch the super pack shoulder missile pods. The Fold booster comes with 2 connectors, one for use with a bare VF-25 & one for use when using FAST Packs, which includes pegs for attaching the shoulder missile pods as the connector itself occupies the holes where the shoulder missile pods normally attatch.Graham -
Nope, no pics in the August HJ or DH.

Firstly, the hands. An anime accurate TV type VF-1A would have bubble hands, whereas the DYRL type would have the more mechanical looking hands. Secondly, the the head unit would differ. The DYRL VF-1A would have the prominant rim around the eypiece, which the TV VF-1A head lacks. Graham

I ordered mine from OverDrive and they sent them by EMS. I know there's an EMS parcel waiting for me at home, so it's probably the sets. I do wish Bandai had made the standard Fold Booster that Alto uses to get to Galia IV, rather than the Pink Super Folder Booster though. The standard one looks much nicer IMO. Graham -

There's a parcel waiting for me at home, which I'm pretty sure is my Ghost & Fold Booster Sets. Graham -
Just wondering have you seen them anywhere in HK yet? I haven't, not that I've looked too hard though. Graham

Been meaning to ask is Macross Ace printed on good quality glossy paper, or is it the typical low quality "toilet paper" type 70's era comic book era crappy paper used on most Japanese phone-book thickness manga? Graham
-
Was going to avoid the GNU VF-1 toys, but I'll probably pick up one now, but just the VF-1S I reckon. Not going to collect all the variations, that's what the 1/60 line is for. Graham
-
Well, the pics show it's supplied with both TV and DYRL type hands. Graham

Have you tried Amazon Japan or HMV Japan? Both have English pages and are easy to use. Graham
