Heh, funny thing happened on the bus to work this morning. I was playing the final Zero mission where you fight the AFOS, but this time I was trying to get killed. Or more specifically, I was trying to get infront of the AFOS’s big beam, so I could block (L button) and build up my character’s skill points on his blocking ability. However, I never did get infront of the beam and unintentionally ended up doing so well in the mission that I actually got an S grade for the first time! Graham

Did that with the VF-0S with Ghost Booster and got SS! Yes. Now got SS on all but two of the Zero missions and those I have S on. Time to move onto SDFM era now. Graham

Thanks, that's fantastic. Really helpful. Graham

I love the Zero missions and I'am still playing them. Haven't started any other eras yet. Just using either the VF-0A, VF-0S, Cheyenne or Prototype Monster, I've got SS on every mission so far, except for the one where you retreive the AFOS head (only B so far) and the final mission where you fight the AFOS, (only C so far). Definietly seems eaisier to get SS on the majority of the missions than in MAF. I think it's going to be really interesting to experiment with different combinations of auto skill and command skill. Taking my time to savour this game. Spent 10 hours so far just on the Zero missions. Probably will spend at least a couple more hours on the Zero missions to build up the stats of all the Zero mecha, before starting the SDFM missions. Really hope somebody does a translation of all the shop items and skills soon. Damn, gonna have to re-encode all my Macross MP3s if I want to add them as BGM. Mine are all at 128kbps or higher, which is too high for the game to accept. :-( I really love being able to shoot down missiles/launch flares and order my partner to do special attacks. Really adds a whole extra dimension to the game. This really is the ultimate Macross game so far. But just to echo Keith, I hope in the next game (if there is one), we get full VF-X2, M3 & MII campaigns, with all mecha and characters. Oh and a Frontier movie campaign with Tornado pack for the VF-25. Graham

Oh and here's the Amazon JP link to the Macross Ultimate Frontier Complete Guide book. Graham

Probably have to, but I'm still gonna spend a couple of hours first seeing if I can beat it using the SV-51. Graham

Saw there is already a Japanese MUF guidebook out, but as it was selling here for HK$250 (US$32), which is very pricy for a game guidebook, I decided not to buy it. Graham

Anybody translated the specials yet, as some of them seem different from MAF. Graham

Damn, the AFOS Enemy mission is harder than the regular AFOS mission, especially as if you equip the SV-51 with boosters you are limited to fighter mode (wonder why that is?). Graham
-
We already know that the VF-19Kai is nearly PT, except for the head fin, head lasers(?) and hands. Although the hands could be left on in fighter mode, they would look a bit weird hanging off the back. Graham

In the Zero mission where you have to retrieve the AFOS's head, after you have the head do most of you just try to get back to the south end of the canyon as quickly as possible without stopping to destroy the enemies? Or, when you encounter an enemy, do you drop the head destroy the enemy and then pick up the head again? I've been ignoring the enemies and just getting back to the south end of the canyon as quickly as possible. I've found if I stay in Gerwalk, hug the canyon walls and jink a lot to avoid missiles, I can get back with just over 3 minutes and most of my health left. Still, best grade I've got is a B. Haven't tried this mission using the booster yet. Graham

Those live action clips are awesome. Makes me think that a live action Macross movie could really work, which something I never thought possible before......Just don't let Michael Bay direct though! Also, I gotta echo what everybody else is saying.............all this effort just for a frickin' Pachinko game!!!!!!!!!!! Sigh.........just seems such a waste to me. Graham

Really enjoying MUF so far. Only played through the tutorials and 4 of the Zero missions so far though. Want to take my time and savour it. So far seems a bit easy than MAF. Got 'S' grade on two out of the four Zero missions I've played quite easily. Graphics do seem a bit improved and the areas also seem a bit bigger. Graham

Sketchley, if you were a girl, I'd marry you. Graham

Thanks Keith, just the info I needed. Agree being able to order partner to use special is great. In MAF, I always thought that talking to the operator at least once a mission increased relationship hearts.
-
I see that the Player, Partner & Support character all have an Auto Skill & Command Skill. How does one actually use these? Given that the buttons in MAF that activated the special skill are now used in MUF for anti-missile defence. Also what is the point of the Support Character? When I press Select in a mission, there is now no Operator option.

I hope the VF-25 is actually better in MUF. They were actually pretty mediocre in MAF compared with a lot of the older Valks. Graham

Bandai still has a licence (obviously), but it's no longer an exclusive licence. Graham

It was inevitable really.

So is the Armored VF-11C in the game or not? Graham

I have to disagree, I think the model really captures the look of the lineart. Graham -

The battroid mode lineart of the VF-25F with Tornado Pack really reminds me of a Gundam from SEED or SEED Destiny for some reason. Not sure I like it. Graham -
Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
Graham replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The big one is definitely the 1/72 model kit. Although I'm sure a DX won't be far behind. And of course the small one is the 1/250 Fighter Collection. I guess it will be released with series 3? Graham -
I don't think for MAF or MUF there's supposed to be a story per say. It's just a cool game where you can fly around in your favorite Valk in different eras blowing crap up. Don't over think it.....LOL! Graham
