  1. No, I mean like aerial combat. In one of the pre-release interviews for the movie, I seem to recall it was said that because most of the combat in the TV series took place in space, there would be a greater emphasis on aerial combat in the movie. Perhaps they are saving it for part 2? On the subject of part 2, was there a trailer for it at the end of the first movie? Graham
  2. I find it strange and somewhat worrying that the posters for this movie at the cinemas here, all have printed on them at the top in large print "From The Director of Titanic". Given that Titanic is a chick flick and is despised by 99.99% of all red blooded males, surely, this is a form-of anti-advertising and would only help to drive away the intended mostly male audience. I'm presuming here that the movie is a scifi actioneer and is targeted at males in the 16-35 (or thereabouts) age bracket. Or perhaps I'm wrong and it's going to be a mushy love story? Anyway, surely to attract genre fans , it would have been better to promote the movie as being 'From the the director of Aliens'? Graham
  3. As mentioned, the title is a bit redundant, but have you considered that maybe it's just the first in a series on Ninja themed "career" movies. Perhaps, sequels will include titles such as 'Ninja Baker', 'Ninja Accountant', 'Ninja Fast Food Worker' etc. Graham
  4. Some questions for Save, Rentato and others who have watched it: - 1) How was the mecha action? 2) Does the Tornado pack actually make an apperance? 3) Does the Tornado pack kick ass? 4) Is the YF-25 Prophecy in the movie. 5) Any noticable design changes to the Quarter or Ozma's VF-25S with Armored Pack or other mecha? 6) Is there actually more atmospheric combat, as was promised? Seems most of the discussion on the movie so far is about the characters and differences with the TV series, but us mecha-heads want to know about the VFs!!!!!!!! Graham
  5. Not all kit collectors are speculators and it's unfair of you to lump them all together in the same group. I know several kit collectors, including Shawn, who collect the kits, but have no time or inclanation to build them. However, on the other hand they also have no plan ever to sell them. Some people just like to collect the unbuilt kits. Graham
  6. The 1/250 VF-25s are like 90% ABS, very crisp, sharp molding. And they have translucent canopies. The only PVC parts are the gunpod and dorsal spine/head. Graham
  7. Actually looks pretty good, but as I'm extremely happy with my Yamato 1/60 V2, this is an easy pass. At most I might get one VF-1S, when/if they release it. If Bandai had chosen to release a VF-17D/S, VF-171, VF-19F/S or VF-2SS with SAP, I would be all over that and buy multiples. Graham
  8. I've had both. Go with the 1/250, they are better by a long shot. Graham
  9. Heh, that's just what I was thinking! Graham
  10. So are there any new action scenes in the movie? If yes, how is the quality compared with the TV series? Does the Tornado pack actually make an appearance in this first movie, or are they saving it for the second movie? Graham
  11. Ranka book is now out will be picking one up in a few minutes once the shop opens.
  12. Got S or SS on all the Mac 7 missions except for the last one, which is based on the 'Fleet of the Strongest Women' episode, where you have to fight Chlore at the end of the mission. Even using 2 fully levelled up Battle 7s, not taking any damage and destroying everything really quickly, I only can get an A. I know you need to get about 165,000 points to get an S, but best I can is 163,000 points. Just wondering if there are any special conditions you need to fulfill for this mission to 'S' it? For Auto skill, I'm using combo and for command skill Sheryl. Graham
  13. You are so lucky. Wish I could be there. I guess it's probably still too early to ask, but is there any announcement yet on the release date for the movie DVD? And also, was it confirmed that this movie is part 1 of 2? Graham
  14. Set 3 is just speculation at the moment. There has been no official news so far. Graham
  15. I posted 3 battroid pics back in August, on page 30 of this thread. I'll take some pics in fighter mode later. Graham
  16. I posted some back when I first got it a few months ago. Graham
  17. Set 2 is already out here in Hong Kong. I picked up a full set (19pcs), less the secret Ranka VF-25F yesterday evening in a shop on the 2/F of the Oriental 188 Center in Wanchai for HK$588 (approx. US$75.38). Quality and sculpt of these little fighters is pretty good for the size and I've really warmed up to them. VF-25F with Tornado pack is pretty awesome and the two VF-27 actually have painted gunpods, which is a first for this series. Recently I've found myself playing with these far more than my more high-end transforming VF toys. I guess there's something to be said for simplicity afterall! Can't wait to see what's in set 3. Hopefully, we'll get some Armored and Super VF-25, a Max and Milia VF-22S, VF-11C/B/D and my main wish - VF-17D/S and VF-171/VF-171EX. Graham
  18. Very happy with my white n' blue YF-19. The joints are much tighter than on the Mac Plus color versions and it holds poses really well in battroid mode. That said I keep it in fighter mode most of the time, as I just love the look of mostly white fighters. Graham
  19. Did Hasbro fix the legs on the current release of the AT-TE? Thinking of getting one for my son for Christmas, as he really likes "the walking tank" as he calls it. But don't want to buy it if the legs still fall off all the time. Graham
  20. There's more to VF defensive systems than just Chaff. There's, chaff, flares, Pin-Point Barrier, defensive (anti-missile) head lasers, SWAG energy converting armor and the VF-25 super shoulder missile pods are referred to as 'close-in weapons systems', which if following the real-life example implies a defensive nature. This tech sheet, if it goes into detail, could potentially be fascinating to mech-heads like me. Graham
  21. On the quantity of Frontier products, Bandai have been doing pretty good and get an 8/10 from me. My only complaints are the omission of a VF-171 toy, not even in the 1/250 scale fighter collection!!!! . And would it kill them to release a DX cannon-fodder tan VF-25!? Quality-wise, I'd give them a 7.5/10, with only poor paint apps and easily damaged tampo markings being the only real negatives. Regarding actual toy design (which is not related to quality), this is where they score lower and get only a 6.5/10 from me. Both the DX's and VF100s line have numerous design related issues, which I'm not going to repeat here as they have been discussed to death already. But it's obvious that Bandai still has a ways to go before they hit the right balance, but they do seem to be learning and improving, all be it slowly. Graham
  22. Bandai, where's my frackin' DX VF-171 / VF-171EX????? Nuff, said! Graham
  23. Nevermind, found it.
  24. Forgot, how do you enter the passwords? Couldn't find where on the menu.
  25. Here's a couple of quick pics. First the Robot Tamashi Klan Klang Q-Rare and VF-25F Super side-by-side and then with the VF100S VF-25F in battroid mode for size comparison. Graham
