I used to think the same way about getting a PSP, until I got Macross Ace Frontier. Now my PSP fulfills all my gaming needs. I haven't even touched my PS2 in over a year. At home, the times I can play my PS2 are extremely limited as it would get hijacked by my son. But with the PSP, I play it all the time on the bus and train to and from work etc. MAF is a fantastic game, as I'm sure MUF will be. Graham

Heh, just finished and got SS on the EX mission where you unlock Roy's VF-1S without FPs. Second half of the mission was tough, until I remembered Max's special ability to stop time and used it to take out Milia. Graham

Thanks Keith will try those suggestions tonight. Graham

A last appeal for help. I’ve asked these before, but any new advice, tips, tricks, hints or cheats would be grealy appreciated. I’ve nearly finished MAF, only 2 standard missions and 2 EX missions left that I still need to get ‘S’ grade on. With the 2 standard missions that are giving me trouble, the problem is not that I can’t complete them, I can easily, but rather that no matter what I do, I can’t get above A or more usually B in them. In all other missions, I have S or SS grade. The missions I’m having difficulty with are: - The SDFM mission - Kamjin’s Trap (Yes I know it’s the wrong spelling, but can’t remember how you spell his name with a ‘Q’) OK, I’ve tried loads of different Valks and pilot combinations, but no matter how fast I pick up and return the crates to the green zone and I can do it really fast and no matter how quickly I destroy the enemy, I still can’t get above A. I’ve tried both melee attacking all the enemy or using range attacks. I've tried killing all the Regults first, leaving the Glaug to last, or vice versa, doesn’t seem to make a difference. MY normal MO, is to change to Gerwalk, dash to the crates and pick them up and then dash back in Gerwalk to drop them off. For the far crates, I’ll boost there in Fighter mode, only changing to Gerwalk as I get close. When the enemy appears, I can take them out really quickly, either using all melee attacks for extra points or all missiles/guns attacks, but I still can’t get that elusive ‘S’ grade. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do? What's the best Valk/pilot combination to use? The Macross Frontier mission - Get Set This mission has you killing large and small Vajra in space, with Luca, Michael and some VF-171 appearing as allies about half way through. This is an easy mission, I can consistently kill everything quickly, either by using all melee attacks or all range weapon attacks and I can keep all the allies alive, even the VF-171s. Howver, no matter how quickly I complete the mission, I’m still stuck with an A or B grade. Again, I’ve tried loads of different Valk/pilot combinations. What am I doing wrong? What's the best VF/Pilot to use? Graham

MUF is out in HK. I went to the Oriental 188 Center in Wanchai during my lunch break and managed to find both the normal and special edition in only one shop on the second floor. I wasn’t able to find it in any of the other shops. I asked the shop keeper if the special edition bonus disk was region locked and he told me it is region 2. I bought the regular edition for HK$380 (approx. US$49). No point for me to buy the limited edition as my PSP is region 3, so I wouldn’t be able to play the bonus disk anyway and to be honest the extras don’t really excite me (I’m in it for the game, not a bunch of bonus movies I’d probably only look at once). As surprising as it may be to some, I’m not going to play MUF right away. Although I’m sure it's going to be an amazing game, I’ve still got 2 regular missions and 2 EX missions in MAF that I need to get an 'S' on and I want to complete those first. Graham

I don't just mean the shop. If the main in game menu has been moved around, those of us that can't read Japanese will need to know where everything is. Trial and error is a pain in the ass. Graham

Menu translation ASAP please. Hopefully, much of the set up is the same, but from the screen shoots above, it does look like a new menu layout. Graham

Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
Graham replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
Vol. 2 should cover all that, if they go ahead with it. Graham -
Not surprsing. The VF-1 has always had known weaknesses, such as lack of endurance in space (due to lack of fuel) and insufficient armament for extended space combat. Graham

Seriously: Why don't any of YK's other soundtracks sound as br
Graham replied to isamu's topic in Movies and TV Series
To be honest, although I like Cowboy Bebop and have watched the series through twice, I just can't recall the music at all. Nothing really memorable to me there. I'm sure I liked it while watching the series, but nothing has stuck in my mind. Same goes for the Escaflowne soundtrack. Macross Plus on the other hand has some of the most memorable anime music ever IMO, which I still listen to and hum all the time. Graham -
Referring to the first post, what the heck is 'DOF'?
-
Whoa.....that came out of the blue. Not looking that great IMO though. Intakes look huge. Will likely pass. If they make other PT VF, may consider, depending on how they look. Too many other, better VF-1 toys out there. Graham

Heh, even at 1/250 scale, the VF-25 has a slight upwards curve to the wing. Graham
-
Still not sure the 1/100 VF-19Kai has landing gears, as there don't appear to be any removeable landing gear bay doors on the legs in the photos shown so far. None of the photos have shown any landing gear either. Graham

Need advice on completing the Frontier EX mission 'My Boyfriend is a Pilot', where you play as Klan using the Q-Rea. Having a hard tiome on this also. Graham

Took me 22 hours play, but I finally got SS on Sad Sniper EX. Now up to 114 hours in total. Graham

OK, I may redesign the poll. Graham

Between my son and I, our house is overflowing with toys. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion, but the wife seems to not be too happy about it. So yes, any new toy now has to be smuggled in when she's on night shift....LOL! Once the toy is in and on the shelf, it's no problem, as we all know that women are incapable of telling the difference between mecha toys. Graham

Cool, Speaker Pod Gamma, The gold Q-Rau from FOSW, forget the pilot's name (Chloe?) and the underwater Anti-UN mecha from Zero who's name also escapes me for the moment. Oh and the Destroid Cheyenne II from Frontier. Can't wait! Graham

Picked up the last one in the Sugar Street Animate branch yesterday lunch time. Paid an exhorbitant price, but no time to trek over to Ins Point to get it cheaper. Surprisingly small box. Haven't opened it yet. Gotta wait til' the wife goes on night shift in a couple of days. Graham

Not yet in Wanchai when I looked this evening after work.

That's a shame. I don't know why it doesn't get any love. It really is a beatiful looking mecha IMO. Graham

I await more details with curiosity. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of excessive amounts of diecast metal in transmforming toys, due to the paint chipping that inevitably occurs. My view is that metal should just be added where necessary for durability, not just having diecast for diecasts sake. My main hope for the VF100s line is to reduce the amount of parts and parts-forming necessary. Graham

Yamato are now considering making sonme accessory sets andhave asked me to do some research on what peripherals people would like. I will be putting up a poll soon. Graham
