  1. Finally got to handle mine last night after coming back from holiday. After all the hype and photos, I was expecting some sort of uber-toy, but actually ended up being a bit disappointed by it. Pros: 1) Transformation from fighter to Gerwalk and battroid modes easy. Transformation back to fighter mode frustrating though. 2) Looks good in fighter and gerwalk modes, but a bit busy-looking in battroid mode for my taste. 3) Locks together reasonably well in fighter mode, but not as securely as Yamato's VF-19. 4) Good 'A-stance' in gerwalk mode. 5) Good level of surface detail. Cons: 1) No lock on the front and rear landing gears. 2) No molded-in detail in the landing gear bays. 3) Maybe just the color, but the plastic seems more toy-like and cheaper, compared to Yamato's VF-19. 4) Transformation back to fighter mode was extremely frustrating. The fecking shoulder armor kept popping off when I tried to get the arms back into place and was extremely difficult to get back in place. Maybe it's because I'm tired and jet-lagged, but there were a couple of times last night, where I nearly ended up throwing the toy at the wall in frustration. When a toy is that frustrating it ceases to be fun. 5) Leg missile bay covers kept coming off when I opened them. Maybe I'll like it more when I play with it when not so tired. Graham
  2. That's what she said last night Graham
  3. Trust, me as I have a whole buncha pics of the prototype, it is the S first. Graham
  4. Do the YF-29's wings lock in position at the hinges in battroid mode, or do the flop around like the V1 VF-25? Graham
  5. I think I may have to send the remaining shoulders to someone else to distribute. Work and personal life had been crazy busy the last year. Anybody want to take on the responsibility, let me know. Graham, currently on vacation in Corfu.
  6. Hope we get V2 Tornado/Armoured/Super Packs as a 3 in 1 retail set, not a web exclusive. Actually I could live without the Super Pack, never really liked the design, but love the Tornado and Armoured Pack. Graham
  7. Just managed to buy it in Sino Center Animate for HK$1,680. They had at least one more remaining. No poster, but I don't care about that anyway. But flying in a few hours for a 3 week vacation, so no time to play with it until I return. Graham .
  8. Looks great in that review, except for the angled front landing gear I hope that's just the reviewer's mistake. Graham
  9. crap, crap and double crap ;( YF-29 just arrived at Oriental 188 Centre, but each toy shop only getting 2pcs and all already reserved for preorder customers. No time to go to Mong Kok to hunt tonight. Graham
  10. Not in 188 Center, Wanchai this lunchtime Graham
  11. They are aiming for end of the year, but it will still likely end up being in Q1 2012. No reaction missile bays confirmed. I was told that if they had sacrificed the rear landing gear, they may have been able to fit the bays, but there is just not enough room in 1/60 scale to fit everything. Graham
  12. S, thought I'd mentioned earlier in the thread. Graham
  13. I've also had the 18rd drum hang a couple of times in the same way. No biggie, it works will enough most of the time and to be honest, I'm surprised that for a toy drum magazine firing soft foam darts, it works as well as it does! Anyway, it's good for practicing stoppage drills. Graham
  14. No intention to sticker mine either. Like the out of the box anime look too much. Graham
  15. That's a shame. Was going to look for one, to put under my Recon, but will pass now. Graham Will probably pass on these. Already in trouble with my wife for getting 6 NERF guns this month and don't want to be bothered with another ammo type. Also not too keen on the look or color scheme. Graham
  16. Anybody want to hack or steal my phone, then u can see full CADs as well as rapid prototype pics......LOL. Graham
  17. Can the Break Barrel IX-2 attach to the Recon's bottom rail without modification, or does it need some modification done first? Graham
  18. The Recon really should have had an ambidextrous side-mounted cocking handle as standard, it would have made it a much better NERF blaster. Graham
  19. Just to clarify, the VF-17's forearm beam guns have barrels in both the wrist and elbow, just the elbow ones extend out, where the wrist ones don't. The wrist/elbow beam gun feature was something General Galaxy decided to reuse for they follow up VF, the YF-21/VF-22. Graham
  20. Ordered a yellow Raider stock, one more 18rd drum, a 35rd drum and a Stampede 18rd mag from ebay for my Alpha Trooper. Graham Thanks for the holster tip, will check it out. Also been thinking about getting a dump pouch. Just bought the NERF bandoleer. Thinking about getting a Raider as well, but like the Alpha Trooper for it's compact-ish size. Can't find the NERF double barreled shotgun in HK. Graham
  21. Surprised nobody is making some dedicated Kydex belt holsters for the Maverick. Graham
  22. Gave my Barricade another try last night in the house and it worked fine. It's weird, when I first got it, my son and I tested it indoors and it worked fine, but when we took it outdoors to have a NERF fight around our village, it started jamming after only a couple of shots. Yet last night it worked fine again. I've noticed you definitely can't fire too rapidly and need to have a second or half second pause between shots and also it needs a good firm trigger pull, something my just 7 year old son can't always manage yet. Need to do some more testing before I feel confident with it though. Still think the manually operated guns like the Maverick and Alpha Trooper are better than the noisy battery powered Barricade though. Planning to get a CS-35 Raider soon, for the 35rd drum. Just ordered an 18rd Stampede magazine off ebay as well Would like to get a few more of the 18rd Alpha Trooper drums. Anybody know a source of holsters for Mavericks? Graham
  23. Bought that pack of 2 x 6rd magazines that comes with the grey adapter that lets you clip 2 mags together end to end, but it seems really unsecure in that the slightest bump will knock a magazine out of the grey adapter clip. Do you guys usually glue the mags into the adapter clip? Graham
  24. Just recently started getting into NERF with my nearly 7 year old son. Bought the following guns in the past 3 weeks: 1 x Alpha Trooper CS-18 = Fantastic gun, highly recommended. Love the balance of size, weight and capacity and the slam fire feature. 1 x Barricade RV-10 = Very noisy and jams frequently. Really regret buing this. It worked ok for about 30 shots but now jams all the time. 2 x Maverick REV-6 = Great sidearms. Got one yellow and one transluscent green. My favorite so far. 1 x Recon CS-6 = So-so IMO. good as a pistol, but the stock feels flimsy and doesn't hold a spare mag securely, the rail being on the cocking handle is a really stupid location as it interferes with the rear sight. If I'd had a chance to try this first I probably would not have bought it. The Alpha Trooper is far superior IMO. So far my feeling is to stay away from the battery powered guns. Graham
