Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Graham replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Thank you for pointing that out. Yamato is no way responsible for the crappy exchange rate. Graham -
Possibly the sub-tropical warm and humid (at least in spring and summer) environment in Hong Kong has something to do with it(?). Graham

And still wondering what is a super pat? Sounds kinda kinky! (especially as in Cantonese "pat pat" means bottom/ass/arse) Graham

I'd love Yamato to make a 1/60 Fz-109. Graham -
Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

Nope. While the base transformation is 99% the same, apart from the folding nosecone of the VF-171, nearly every part on the VF-171, with the exception of the gunpod and perhaps the hands is completely different to the VF-17 and would require 100% new tooling to make. Basically, you cannot make a VF-171 by just slapping a longer nose, different canopy and wings on a VF-17. The difference are far greater than that. Same sort of situation with the YF-19 and VF-19Kai/F/S/P. While at first glance they look similar to the untrained eye, nearly every part is completely different, Graham -

Actually, rather than stickers (which would really look like crap), Bandai if they wanted could probably make one Super Pack set for all VF-25 variants, using swappable plug-in colour plastic pieces where required, except possibly for the intake covers, which may be too thin to accomadate removeable parts. The leg, shield and dorsal(back) Super parts have no different colour markings, so they are common between Alto/Ozma/Micheal/Luca. The big wing boosters only have the colour band around the tip which is different, so that part could easily be made a swappable plug-in colour piece. The chest armour again is mostly grey with only the left and right coloured raised sections. These sections could easily be made as swappable parts. The shoulder missile launchers could also have swappable different colour hatches. So really the only parts of the Super Pack that would need to be duplicated for all for colours would be the intake covers. Graham

Just checked Yahoo Japan Auctions and still no sign of it being out in Japan either. Graham

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Graham replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yes, due to the higher quality factory Yamato is using recently, plus price increases in China and increased material costs, Yamato told me their production cost has risen 2.5 times in the past year They are also not happy about it, but would rather use this high quality factory. Graham -

Problem is that side view art which everybody is comparing the toy to is terribly inaccurate as well. The legs, intakes, micro-missile ports, feet are all impossibly slim. Graham -
Pass. No interest at all. Graham

This is a VF-17, not a VF-171! Graham -
Of course, it could all just be a cover for a Macross 30th aniversery anime. I mean contest to find idol singers for new anime sounds awfully Macross-y to me Graham

AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?
Graham replied to Macross007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Haha.....and what about the live action Evangelion? Honestly, the only live action anime adaptation, I'd probably look forward to seeing would be Black Lagoon. But then who would play Revy? Graham -
I completely disagree. Game of Thrones, which is probably 98% faithful to the books is how a TV adaptation should be. For myself, if I'm watching a book-to-TV, or book-to-movie adaptation I want it to be as faithful to the source material as possible. Honestly, if they had changed the title of The Walking Dead TV series to "Extremely Loosely Inspired by The Walking Dead", I probably would have enjoyed season one a lot more. At least then I wouldn't have had any false expectations. Graham

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

Sigh..........do we have to go through this with each, new release. Photos are of a painted resin sculp, so of course fit & finish does not look great and why blocks are needed for support. Graham -

That's about as slim as you can keep fighter mode and still keep a decent n chunky-ish looking battroid mode. It's still miles slimmer than the Bandai 1/65 DX.Graham -

And just because it's not shown in that single Gerwalk mode photo, doesn't mean the lower legs can't bend forward. Ahem........pull lower leg down to extend knee joint & bend forward, as required -

But the VF-17's trademark and destinctive Gerwalk mode is supposed to be like that. Graham -
VF-11B and C didn't sell too well. Likely no more releases and no armour set due to poor sales of the base mecha Graham

I think this discussion is over. It's obvious that only a very few people (vocal minority?) ever really had a problem with it. Not going to bring up with Yamato in this instance. Graham

I agree, the VF-25F looks better naked, although I also like the Tornado pack. I've personally never liked the look of the Super Packs. Also agree that the Armoured Ozma is a different story, that looks awesome. Will also check Mong Kok tomorrow. Graham

LOL, that is way cool. Graham One of the many weight saving measures they had to make I guess. Graham
