Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Graham replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It's so nice to be able to have a shelf of Macross 7 Valks like this. Only been waiting since 1995. Gotta remember to add Milia's VF-22S to the pic next time. Graham -

The Kai and Blazer get a solid 9.5 from me. Graham -
Haha, you think it's gonna be that early. Try near the end of the year! Plenty of time to save money. Graham

Took off the large untrimmed kite stickers from the chest and used some from a 1/60 v2 VF-1 that I trimmed off the clear edges. Looks much better now. Will post pics later. Upgrading my score for this toy to 8/10 after more time with it. Graham -

Great Review. I actually learnt something from both your video review (that the bottom neck joint could swivel 360 degrees, mine is super tight and I didn't think it could move) and your text review (that the FP slot on the leg could open and close). Graham -
The body between the wings would provide a lot of lift.Graham

I'd say definitely much easier than the YF-21/VF-22. Actually, it's pretty easy to transform, it's just getting the hips passed the underarm/LERX when transforming from battroid to fighter which is tricky and requires patience. The rest is actually pretty easy. Graham -

I've mentioned it several times already in this thread, but I can't stress it enough. Be extremely slow and careful when transforming from battroid mode back to fighter mode so that you don't damage the sharp, thin and pointy tip or the leading edges of the underarm/LERX when rotating the hips/Intakes from Battroid mode position back to fighter mode position. It's a really tight fit getting the hips past the underarm/LERX without them touching each other, but it can be done with some very slow and careful wiggling, otherwise you will ding up/dent the tip and leading edge of the underarm/LERX. Transforming from fighter mode to Gerwalk or Battroid is relatively quick and easy, but getting back into fighter mode again from Battroid mode requires extreme care. Nothing will break, but if you are not careful, I guarantee you will blunt the tip of the underarm/LERX and ding up the leading edges. And yes, another reminder, this toy has multiple thin sharp points. There is a whole page of the manual devoted to pointing them out and (I guess) telling you to be careful. I guarantee that you will stab yourselves multiple times while transforming it! I stabbed myself in a pre-existing open cut on my index finger, which was not fun...............LOL! This toy does have something of a learning curve and many quirks and I've spent the last several days since Christmas day learning to master it. I'm still not there yet, but I'm getting there. And yes I love it and I'm now the proud owner of 3, even though I think the VF-19Kai/S is a better engineeed/designed toy, but then I love the VF-17 as you all know. Graham -

Spoke with Yamato today. The reason the VF-17S does not have tampo printed markings on the chest is not a cost-cutting measure. It's simply because the guy in charge of design, does not like the markings on the VF-17S's chest and thinks it looks better without markings.............LOL! Hence, stickers for those that want the markings. I've asked if it is possible to include the markings tampo printed on for the VF-17D. Graham -

That's a really difficult question. Ask me in 6 months time. The VF-17 has long been my favourite VF design, closely followed by the VF-19. I've waited a long time for toys of these 2 mecha that are better than the Bandai originals. It's a really tough call which one I would chose if I could have only one. The 19 is a better toy, near perfection IMO, but the 17, despite it's quirks, which I have been learning a lot about these past few days, is also a good toy. And yes, you can open the cockpit in battroid mode. Will post a pic when I get home. Graham -

No, you can't push the legs forward more, as they are blocked from moving forward by the ventral belly plate. Note in the photo you posted, the back of the lower leg is already right up against the belly plate. Graham -

Your wish is my command. The box contains: 1 x instruction manual. 1 x sticker sheet. 1 x battroid mode stand attachment piece. 1 x fighter/gerwalk mode stand attachment piece. 2 x removable wrist covers for fighter/gerwalk mode. 1 x gunpod (splits into 2 halves). Graham Only 2 of the red and white ones of that size. But there are also 2 x grey and white, 2 x white outline, 2 x grey outline that size. And then 4 smaller of each colour. Graham -

60 photos in all, all taken with the 8MP camera on my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone. Including the announcement of 1/60 VF-4G! But is it an unassembled, unpainted kit (I hope not), or an asempled, painted toy (I hope so). But an online shop exclusive Graham -
