  1. Great new pics of the VF-171EX Alto version. Although it's difficult to tell for certain, it looks like only one hard point on the wing, whereas it should have three. But being as the view of the wing is partially blocked by the battroid's body, I may be wrong. Anyway, I'll be glad for even one hardpoint, although at least two would be better. Let's hope Bandai gets the connection nice and tight first try, as it took Yamato several years to get nice tight hardpoints on their toys. Remember the SV-51, where the missiles ffall of if you glance at them wrong. And on the new pics, you can see the rear landing gear door position is confirmed. If they do produce the Armoured Pack, there is a twin-thruster sitting right on top of where the rear landing gear bay is. Wonder how they are gonna handle that? Perhaps with Armoured Packs fitted, the VF-171EX is only supposed to launch in gerwalk or battroid mode, or from a launch arm, so no need for the landing gear? Graham
  2. Reminds me of a double-headed ratchet spanner.........LOL! Graham
  3. cough.........err.......VF-1.Graham
  4. Actually, to be fair to Bandai, they did release a heck of a lot of the renewal version VF-25F Alto and for months after release, many shops here in Hong Kong had multiples still sitting on shelves. It's only recently that stock has started to dry up a bit, but they can still be found. The VF-25S renewal version was obviously released in smaller quantities, but can still be found, although at a much inflated price. The YF-29 is another story altogether though and Bandai's first release was pitifully small. I have a feeling the VF-171EX is going to be a big seller for Bandai and popular with fans, so let's hope they release sufficient quantities this time round. Graham
  5. It's actually pretty hideous IMO. I far prefer the designs from the orginal movie. And I bet it can't turn for crap. Graham
  6. I've always thought carrying a few large screwdrivers would be a good close in latest ditch anti-zombie weapon. Graham
  7. Wings are the same shape between the S And D.
  8. Never seen any Yamato, so put me in the 'don't care' category. Graham
  9. Firstly it's gotta be someting reliable. If it don't go bang everytime I pull the trigger, it's of no use. Secondly, its gotta have sufficient power to do enough damage to the zombie's brain to put them down with one shot. I have my doubts that a .22LR would always do enough damage to put down a zombie reliably even with a headshot. Thirdly, it should be high capacity. If I'm swarmed by zombies I wanna have enough ammo in the gun, so that I don't have to worry about reloading often. Fouthly, it should preferably be something which can be silenced. For a handgun, I'd go with a high capacity 9mm, probably a Glock 17 or Glock 19 as I shot Glocks for years in IPSC and they are reliable, accurate and extremely durable. It would be fitted with night sights (meprolights or trijicons) and mount a light/laser combo, probably an Insight M6. 9mm ammo is pretty common as well. For a long gun, probably some sort of shorty M4 with an Aimpoint or Eotech. I love the HK 417, but really any of the xzillions of brands of M4 clones would serve. While I love shotguns and large calibre revolvers, they are just too low capacity and too slow to reload. Graham
  10. Yes, the metal rear landing gear is supposed to be glued to the inside of the plastic rear landing gear bay door, but seems like CM's uses insufficient glue. I already had one come off, so I just super glued it back on. Graham
  11. I wonder if the gunpod be able to attach externally on the underside of the fighter, as this is how it is mounted on the VF-171, unlike the internal storage of the VF-17. I have confidence in Bandai that the finished version will have lots of Tampo printing. The total number of variants that Bandai could make are: VF-171EX Alto version. VF-171EX standard version (no red stripes). RVF-171EX VF-171 cannon fodder. RVF-171 (Note, all the above versions were released by Bandai in the 1/250 scale Macross Fighter Collection). For possible accessory packs there are: The EX version weapon packs (Arm missile Pod and large arm-mounted beam gun). Alto's additional Ex version armour parts (chest and leg armour) (this should be packaged and sold with the EX version weapon packs). Twin Fold boosters shown being used by the RVF-171. I do think wing-mounted missiles should be standard for the VF-171/VF-171EX as during the anime, they were pretty musch shown carrying missiles all the time. Graham
  12. Damn, away from the forums for a couple of days and this happens. Definitely getting 3 of these (more of the CF version if they release it).
  13. Just finished watching Gundam Unicorn OVA # 1-4. Now rewatching Macross 7, for is it the 7th or 8th time (It's my all time favourite anime TV series). On episode # 5 at the moment. Also rewatching Mospeada, currently on episode # 14. Will have to get to Black Lagoon and finish watching it soon also. Still got 4 or 5 eps to go and then onto the OVA. Graham
  14. Yep, it's a fantastic toy. Graham
  15. Yeah agreed. From what I recall (and please correct me if I'm wrong), Bandai usually don't have too much of a presence at Wonder Fest. Graham
  16. I gotta say, whoever was in charge of marketing this film did a lousy job, or perhaps they just had no marketing budget. Graham
  17. While I don't want to see a remake, I'd also be up for a side story OVA set during Space War One. Graham
  18. Yep, definitely can't sit on its landing gears (CM's taking a lesson from Toynami.....LOL). Still looks cool though. Graham
  19. I actually love the streamlined look of the VF-19S/F without canards. They are my favourire 19 variants. Graham
  20. Picked up the CM's Unmanned Drone Dark Legioss, pretty cool, although it's a bit of a nuisance that you have to remove the hand the attach it in Armo-Fighter mode. Although I found that I can actually store the magazine by sloting it into the back of the gun when in fighter mode. Graham
  21. "Pointless battle scenes"! It's the battle scenes that make this OVA IMO, certainly not the story and dialogue. Or to put it another way, I don't watch this OVA, for the seemingly endless scenes of Banagher explaining why it's good to feel sad and cry......yawn! Me wanna see lots of scenes of big stompy robots blowing each other up in glorious high definition...........LOL! Although I appreciate how people who are into the novels may be upset that the anime adaptation is not 100% faithful.! Want to ask, what was the Feddie suit that kicked ass in the battle at the end of episode 4. Looked like some sort of updated Gaplant. Graham
  22. Not really. Some Gundam I like, most I don't. I don't hate all Gundam. In fact CCA and 0080 actually make my top ten list of all time favorite non-Macross anime. I'm just in the mood to watch some mecha anime that I've not watched before. Unicorn is visually stunning, but the mecha designs really do nothing for me, certainly give me no desire to buy toys or models of them. As usual, it's only the grunt GM cannon fodder types that I think actually look nice. There are very few MS designs that I actually think look nice enough that I would or have bought toys or models of them. And the main protaganist is still the typical annoying, angsty, whiny Gundam character that makes me want to slap him and shout "grow a pair" at him. One of the many reasons I prefer Macross to Gundam is the far lower level on angst (almost none) in Macross. Most Macross main characters just get on and do the job, whether it be killing or singing without all the angsty behavior and sobbing. I'm half way through episode 4 and the main character has spent most of the episode so far crying.......LOL! Graham
  23. Err.........watched the video. Is Speed on speed? Graham
