    The prequel era designs could not be more out of step with the original films. They don't look like Star Wars and they don't feel like Star Wars. Everyone makes their own choice; me, I've chosen to disregard the prequel era.

    Again, the X-wing design isn't new. It's one of the original concept designs from the first movie. And hey, 30 years have passed, things are going to change a little.

    The "new" X-wing is actually the original (unused) design from the first movie. I don't see any radical changes in these ships. It's what we know.

    You have to remember with these guys that they believe what they're doing is necessary and right. Kylo isn't sitting there saying to himself "dark and evil is cool, I'm gonna be that." They don't think of themselves that way. To ruthlessly exert their power without restraint is just a means to an end.

    I see things in this movie as being a bit like the aftermath of the fall of the Roman Empire. No one was able to step up and grab control, so the galaxy has been split among various regional factions. Well, that's my guess, anyway.

    Obvious lens flare is obvious, I didn't think it was even worth bringing up. I'm more interested in what that big, red light (beam?) was.

    If you've seen both trilogies it's pretty easy to figure out some of the core story beats.
