The relationships between the characters are what makes this series as good as it is. I don't understand why one would watch it otherwise, its what drives the show.

I just can't see spending 90 bucks on this series. I LOVED it up until around episode 26 (maybe the best 26 episodes of anime I've ever seen), and it really drops the ball badly after that.

A HD transfer is alot different that an HDDVD/Bluray release.

The picture is vastly better on the remaster, but animation (in my opinion) isn't really a format that does well in HD.

The KAA release does use the mediocre (to cringe worthy) Manga subs.

Ok, this smells like they're cooking up friction between the SMS forces and the UN forces in the fleet. The SMS, private contractors made up of people bounced out of the UNS and cocky veterans who left to seek their fortunes with these organizations. This would probably follow in the line of the Guld/Isamu and Gamlin/Basara conflicts.

Ok, I caught the bit in Macross Plus about colony disputes. On a side note, in the same scene, Manga translates reaction weapons as "reflex".

So, ok, Sheryl is the top Idol on the Galaxy Network AND hails from the Macross Galaxy fleet?

Yes, but I'm just wondering if we're misreading it, if its been lost in the translation. Is she literally from the Macross Galaxy fleet, or is she just the hot star they've been listening to on the Galaxy Network?

Ok, so, now we know the VF-25 is a UN Spacy's new main fighter. Its not a SMS exclusive. And the "private military force" reeks of defense contractors. The UN has to outsource its emigration fleet defense? Stretched too thin, or perhaps in a heavy engagement elsewhere...?

But somehow the "mecha fans who love planes" were mostly disappointed with Macross Zero. One could argue that it was the only thing Zero had going for it.

Let's not forget that half of the episodes of SDF Macross contained some of the worst animation and art I've ever seen. If the story is good I suspect we'll all forgive the ratio of CGI to cell.
