  1. Hey, talkback is fixed. You guys need to go show it some love while we have a spotlight on it.
  2. A positivie or negative review (from the main contributors) generally (but not always) depend on how close the reviewer is the writer or director of a film. Or even who is starring in it. Generally, yes, its a crap site, but unfortunately, it gets alot of attention (and love) from the Hollywood folks. Anyone here who reads it can tell you most of the talkback on their reviews are filled with mocking and insulting comments aimed at the reviewer in question. The fans know its a joke, Hollywood doesn't. But hey, Macross getting attention gets my attention!
  3. Anime doesn't get much talkback on AICN. And when it does, its usually "cartoons suck, pedophiles!" Then again, I tried posting talkback yesterday, and it didn't go up. edit: Yeah, talkback doesn't seem to be working for me.
  4. Ok, now that I have a PS3 and TFU, I see the issue with the camera. Reminds me a bit of the Dynasty Warriors games. I need to check my settings tomorrow, but I think reversing the camera controls and turning the sensitivity down a bit may help (atleast, for me).
  5. Scott covers Macross, and I give the review. Its generally spoiler free, focuses on the mains, and I tried to keep it short and to the point. Its not short, but its not the behemoth is was shaping up to be. This is the first time I can recall Macross being the focus of an article on AICN, and certainly this is the most coverage its gotten there (as Scott points out). AICN Anime - Macross Frontier - Deculture! edit: snipped article, go read it there and throw up some talkback.
  6. I am now a proud PS3 owner. That was not cheap...
  7. I dunno. We had SDF Macross to fill in the story gaps in DYRL. We're still waiting for someone to fill in those gaps for Frontier.
  8. If we knew that, I think it would have already been covered.
  9. Except they were apparently making nice with Mao and company before Grace did something to piss them off.
  10. Wow, there ya go! I still think I have my membership cards around here someplace.
  11. I wonder how many of us here got alot of our anime and various anime and manga related publications back in the day through Books Nippon, either in NY or CA.
  12. Yes. As I've said before, there are some pretty big plot holes in this series, mostly the "how and why" all of it happened.
  13. Its shown at 2:25 in the morning. What exactly are you expecting it to do? And if it works anyway like it does in NA, DVR recordings are not counted in the ratings. The real numbers to look at here are the DVD sales, which last time I heard, were selling like crazy.
  14. I dunno, if I survived the near extinction of the human race (in which 6 billion people were vaporized in a matter of seconds), I'd count myself lucky to only be in a wheel chair.
  15. I watched Robotech like alot of us here growing up, but I didn't become a Macross fan until I saw Clash of the Bionoids around '90 or '91. That led me to Books Nippon in NYC, and later ordering from them in California when the NYC store closed. I remember when Macross II came out. My friends and I at school were all over it, and I don't think any of us were really happy with it after watching. I first learned of Macross Plus at a comic con at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC in, well, I guess 1994. Manga was there promoting it, but it seemed like a year went by before it actually released. Sometime in 1996 I ran into a friend from highschool in a store, and we chatted briefly. He had actually seen a bootleg of a few episodes of Macross 7 on VHS, and he hated it. Man, was he right, LOL. It wasn't too long after that that I had my first exposure to Macross online, which was the old Macross Mecha Design website. While I wasn't into Macross that much growing up, I was a big MOSPEADA fan. I lived in Pennsylvania for 5 years, and we had a store nearby us (part of a chain, I believe) called Children's Palace. I got ALOT of MOSPEADA toys there, along with a few Macross and Orguss goodies (I had NO idea what Orguss was at the time, but it transformed, so it was cool). I have no idea what an American toystore chain in the middle of Pennsylvania was doing with these toys, but they had them. And I'm not talking Robotech toys, I mean MOSPEADA, Macross, and Orguss.
  16. The thing that most shocked me about that scene is that it looks like 90% of the Vajra survived the hit.
  17. LOL, you have watched SDF Macross, right?
  18. I'm not sure it was ever poignant or haunting, I'm don't think anyone thought he really was dead.
  19. I'm been bitching about Frontier retcon for months now. The Megaroad issue is something that is actually in the Frontier animation, so its a tad different.
  20. That was pre-Frontier retcon.
  21. 300 years would have made the tech seem rather dated.
  22. No, and let's just leave it where it is.
  23. Frontier was at the end of a 7 1/2 month tour, I would guess to other colonies and fleets. She sounds pretty big.
  24. I'm not saying he's wrong, but he's done work for Palladium, which practically makes him a fan fiction writer for Macross II.
