    Hacking a Wii is fairly simple if you have an SD card handy and a computer that has a card reader. Of course, the best way to do it is through emulation; Dolphin runs the game beautifully and at much higher resolutions than the Wii.

    XIII was neither original, nor was it innovative; it was a regression. I played maybe 15 minutes of it before turning around and selling it. I don't think anyone can fault the FF series for being hit or miss; over 20+ years you are going to have some duds. FFII may be the worst game I've ever played to completion, I wouldn't play through VIII again if you paid me, and XIII wasn't worth the effort. IX is a wonderful game up until the 4th disc, and XII was so ambitious and strong that it went off the reservation and stumbled toward the end game. Going back over the past decade there have been three JRPG's that I have enjoyed: Final Fantasy X, XII, and Dragon Quest VIII. However, I wouldn't put any of them over several of the JRPG's I played in the decade preceding it (oh, but XII had so much potential, but just didn't quite close the deal). In the PSX era alone, Final Fantasy VII, Tactics, Front Mission 3, Vagrant Story, and Xenogears are all superior to any JRPG I've played in the PS2 era forward. Now, I haven't finished Xenoblade yet, so I am not including it in the conversation, but I don't think its a stretch to say it's the best JRPG I've seen in a decade.

    I'd like to point out that the brilliant Xenoblade Chronicles is everything that is right about JRPG's. My first JRPG was Dragon Warrior (I've also played II, III, VI, and VIII), and I've played every Final Fantasy up to (but not including) 13, excluding 11. Hell, my favorite game of all time is a JRPG, Xenogears. I'd like to think I've got a pretty good handle on what a good JRPG is, or at least what I think one is. I don't think the problem is that they haven't stuck with tried and true game mechanics (though, it's one of the things I love about the Dragon Quest series), the problem is a total lack of originality or vision from the developers--SquareEnix in particular. Unfortunately, there's only one Tetsuya Takahashi and only one Yasumi Matsuno (and thankfully neither one is with SquareEnix).

    Magic doesn't explain why Lion-O and Tigra barely know Panthro, and why Panthro acts very indifferently toward them. They've shown us the flashback scene where Lion-O and Tigra are dueling (they look to be around 12 years old) and Panthro is standing RIGHT THERE; clearly they both grew up around him.

    This show has a real problem with contradictions. It was (and continues to be) a problem with Panthro's relationship with the others, and in this episode we're told the only people who knew the location of the Tower were sealed within it. Oh, except for Jaga, somehow he knows. I understand this is written for kids, but come on...

    Unfortunately, that seems to be the case. I'm probably best just holding off for a few months and then decide where I most want to spend my money. Either I'll do a full cpu/mobo/ram upgrade, or keep rolling with what I have.

    Well see, that's the question, Az. I'm not sure the 400MHz is worth the loss of 1MB of L2 cache. I'd love to do a mobo/cpu/ram upgrade, but spending the 450-500 bucks on that impacts my ability to pick up the new iPhone and get a new TV in the not too distant future.

    Actually, that's "PSX." The PS-X was a special version of the PS2 released only in Japan that also functioned as a DVR device.

    Currently have an E6600 Conroe (2.4Ghz 4MB L2 Cache) running a stable and cool 2.88GHz on an Asus P5B Deluxe mobo. GPU, sound, and PSU are new within the past 2 years. I'm looking to do a cheap and fast upgrade to my CPU. My best options are an E7600 and an E6800: E7600 Wolfdale 3.06Ghz 3MB L2 Cache vs E6800 Wolfdale 3.33GHz 2MB L2 Cache E7600 will overclock to 3.6GHz and the E6800 will overlock to 4GHz. +1MB L2 Cache or +400MHz. Also, the E7600 is $50 more, but I'm not overly concerned about that.

    I am going to hold off on purchasing this set until I see some technical reviews of the release. If it has the same video and audio issues that the last DVD release had, I may just pass.

    Color me disappointed to far. I don't think the show is particularly well written or directed. At least the animation and art are solid.

    Xenoblade Chronicles, anyone? I've been tweaking the Dolphin emulator in preparation for playing it (EU release, but in the US), but haven't gotten around to starting it yet.

    Most reviews are now up, and it certainly looks like a stinker. Something like 22% on Rotten Tomatoes. Ironically, the choice for Conan is one of the few things I've seen praised.

    I don't want Ford anywhere near this sequel/prequel/side-story/whatever. First off, he and Scott have very different views on who Deckard is (granted, it seems to be that Scott is the only one who sees him as a replicant), and secondly, Ford hasn't made a movie worth seeing in well over a decade.
