Yup, same here. I moved on with my life pretty quickly, though. Plenty of other things I can spend that money on.

Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Looks promising -
Does anyone really watch Tron because of the real-world segments? Bringing the programs to the real world just doesn't appeal to me. I want to be on the grid. Then you add in no Bruce Boxleitner (you know, TRON) and a token 5-min appearance by Bridges, and I have to wonder what we're doing here.

The film they marketed didn't appeal to me, and the reviews are not good. Going to wait for this to be streaming at home.

Love Dunk & Egg, but I have to wonder how they're going to deal with Egg's actor aging over multiple seasons if they have a lot of downtime between seasons. If they aren't releasing a season every two years, he's going to age out of the role. -

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu - May 22, 2026

There's a bunch of stuff in the OT that was definitely not "for kids." George was always full of crap about that.- 102 replies

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu - May 22, 2026

With their advertising for this, it looks to be aimed at children. Like Skeleton Crew. Which is fine, I liked that. Just makes me a little sad we're now miles away from the Space Spaghetti Western the show started as.- 102 replies

Sneakers is probably my favorite amongst his films. Also really fond of The Sting, All the President's Men, and The Natural. My favorite directorial effort of his is A River Runs Through It.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Duke Togo replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
DAN DA DAN S2: this show is hit or miss with me. I want to like it more than I do. Clevatess S1: not caught up with this quite yet, but I am digging it so far. Gachiakatu S1: don't love the character designs, but Bones and Katsuyuki Konishi got me to check it out. Interesting so far. Kaiju No.8 S2: another show I want to like more than I do. I kinda want it to be more ridiculous than it is. -
This could probably use a title change. I assumed this was yet another James Cameron Avatar sequel.

Marvel Studios Fantastic Four: First Steps
Duke Togo replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I stopped watching Marvel productions after BP2 (not because of that movie; I was just burned out), but from everything I had seen before that, this is the most "comic book" movie they've made. You would not confuse this for even mildly-serious science fiction. If I had one real criticism of the movie, it would be it did not lean into the aesthetic and vibe hard enough. It goes half way to that earlier-era, Donner Superman earnestness and innocence, when I feel it should have gone full-out.- 134 replies

Marvel Studios Fantastic Four: First Steps
Duke Togo replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Fantastic Four is better than Superman. I'd say significantly. Straightforward story, not overstuffed with plot or characters, and you don't need to know anything going in.- 134 replies

I think it's pretty clear from that poster that they're not going for a serious tone with Supergirl.

This trailer lowered my interest in the film.

The Pitt and Andor were the best two drama series this past year, but it's likely neither will win. As I've been saying for years, these award shows are meaningless. You can't even use award shows as a way to discover things you might not have seen but should. You look at how many noms White Lotus season 3 got, and it's not good. Someone might see that and go, ya know, maybe I should check it out. No.

Ok, but it has precedence. Gunn didn't come up with it on his own. So, people who are flipping tables over this and walking out of theaters because of it need to check their lore.

I don't understand why people are saying this. The only thing the nations in conflict have in common with them is that one is well-armed and the other isn't. Nothing else about that storyline is even remotely similar.

Saw it this afternoon. It was fine. Second half was better than the first half. Kinda goofy in that James Gunn sorta way. Definitely better than that dark and gritty nonsense Zack Snyder did. Not as good as the original Superman movie.
