    I am going to start a rewatch of season 1 in the next few days. I think what they're done with Andor is just brilliant. These characters had to crawl, these characters had to walk, for Luke Skywalker to get the chance to run. And no other production--not the prequels, not the cartoons--has come close to making us understand that as Rogue One and Andor has. They've made the original Star Wars better, which is no small feat.

    Just watching some highlights from season 1, and man, does this show get things 1,000 times more than Filoni's Rebels cartoon ever did. Even if season 2 is only half as good and season 1, it'll be miles beyond most Star Wars productions in the past 40 years.

    DBA doesn't feel like a Marvel show. At least not how they were a few years ago when I quit Marvel cold turkey. So, that's a positive. But I'm not sure it's working for me after two episodes.

    Actually, he says the 2007 DVD is the best release. Which has me wanting to check it out.

    Thanks for your input. So, the other PCM track is only 2.0? Not sure where I got the 3.1 from. I'll be checking out the mono track on my next watch, then.

    For sure, and there have certainly been changes to the color grading over the years. My main point has been that the 4K release is so wildly different than anything that came before. Back to the audio, I'm going to give the 3.1 PCM mix a listen soon. See if I can pick up on the reported distortions in the audio.

    Do your observations about the PCM apply to both the mono and 3.1 tracks?

    I think the change between the new release and past releases is pretty obvious in the pictures you posted. And it's not the HDR. That said, I really need to stop beating a dead horse here. There disc is out (and yes, I own it), and what we got is not going to magically change.

    This is my biggest complaint with the 4K release: the color change. This movie has looked one way since the day each cel was put on film 40 years ago. I do not like that they've changed that. At all.

    My 4K player displays the DTS stream as being HD-MA, which means it's lossless. No compression.

    Linear PCM is uncompressed audio, while the DTS is compressed.

    Multiple versions? There's only one cut I am aware of, unless you mean one without the Angel's Paints coda and one with.

    Ooof, no. This thing was finished in SD. The HD upscale is not great; I can't imagine how bad a 4K upscale would look.

    I've watched the entire series twice in the past 20-something years and I definitely do not like it at all, lol.
