I just see a Mospeada style uniform underneath a Southern Cross inspired coat/cape, with a Macross style collar section. Looks fine to me. I'd rather see this then some completely new design, shows that they actually are paying attention to how things would evolve in that universe.
Love the synchro beta!
Looks reeeeeallly nice!
Can you describe the painting process really quick? I really would like to know the steps you use. Not asking for super detail, just a quick synopsis.
+1
The Horizon V thing in particular is very nice IMO: it recalls me the marine shuttle thing in Alien2, because of the tail details...
It's an updated Horizont

Working on using a Hasegawa front cockpit in fighter mode, and the Yamato cockpit nose in battroid. They swap out via polycaps. Very simple system, I think it will look really good when painted. This shortens the nose in battloid because I removed some parts from it, and gives the fighter mode a much sleeker look. Pics next week though.
So, if the monster was in a jungle, it could use the claws to grab tree roots? Because, just grabbing 500 lbs of dirt wouldn't help much I don't think.
It's ok, the monster claws are silly, no big deal.
Sheesh birdmen, relax, don't worry so much about us humans. If you wouldn't crash your super space fortresses on our planet, we would blow ourselves up at a much slower pace.
So, the Aphos activates the ship anti grav generators, then later asks Sara if the people of this planet have advanced technology? Uh, shouldn't it already know this?
The MKII monster must have some "BIG" magnets in it's feet so it can fire in space then.
So, the MKI can't fire on anything other than a carrier deck? Why not just mount some big guns on the carrier then?
I think the tie down cables make more sense.
You can still pick up a Hikaru 1J in both flavors on eBay...

I bought some from this seller recently with no problems, and the boxes were in perfect shape.
I would suggest watching the original OAV series before even thinking about watching 2040, so you can compare for yourself. Without a doubt, the original is a great show, though some people have a problem with the music.
I wasn't impressed with the story of 1-4, but enjoyed the dogfights. Same thing happened with episode 5 (though I still need to see a subbed version), but the way the Nora and DD went out was more of a let down than I expected.
Stamen0083, serious thanks for the writeups! Very useful info for me, I'm just getting into this sort of thing. Hopefully I can put some of this to use on my Yamato YF-19 project.
