Going through some of my video game magazines for a garage sale, I saw a VHS of Megazone 23 being sold in one of the magazines, released by Orion. Cool picture though. A happy ending I may just be blanking out, but who's that guy with the black haired girl? I know who she is, and I remember in the end of the movie she got a call from here dad, but is that her dad? I thought he looked different...

You forgot the most common optionL having a Japanese PS2 That's how I plan on playing the game. Though it's kind of a shame. I wasted all my money on buying Encounters in Space and have none left over for the Macross game Well, Christmas is coming up

Little late with the review on this one, eh? Anyways, it was a decent OVA. A lot better then the first one. Though I'm still not liking the lack of character development. Especially with Tetsuya. The Mikene Empire is HIS enemy. Kouji was buddying up with Duke Fleed (Grendizer's pilot) when the Mikene Empire was attacking. And I wish at some point in either OVA they would drop a hint that Tetsuya and Jun are brother and sister (both were adopted by Kouji's father, who is now a robot. How Shiro never kept his sanity through that is beyond me), or Hell, where Great Mazinger came from. But it was still a decent OVA. No where near as good as Last Day of the Planet, but it had Nagai's violence which was a welcome return You gotta love the ending with the sword dropping

I have the set form the Ebay auctions, and they're great. The video looks exceptionally good (I guess the remaster Animeigo set looks better) and the subtitles left nothing to be desired. Either MI redid the subs or Import Anime had a bunch of monkeys doing reviews for it, because this set is a decent alternative if you can't afford the Animeigo set. When I bought it, there was no Animeigo set. I don't think they had even announced it yet.

It must be really rare, too, as there's not even an HK DVD of it.

I hear ya, Druna Fellow Califronian here. Seems there are alot of Cali people here

Hey Opus, apparently you missed my post where I praised Taurus! I have a PT100B, which is just the 92 but in .40 cal. I see other's prefer Taurus over Berettas too
-
Thank God a forum with people who like guns Anyways, I own only one pistol at the moment (which is at my uncle's house in Las Vegas), a Taurus PT100B (.40 caliber, unlike the 92B in 9mm. I always go for the largest caliber the gun come in, as larger rounds take up more space and this whole maximum clip size of 10 in pistols pisses me off). All blue finish. I prefer it over a Beretta 92 (P100 is based on the 92's model) mainly because of the frame mounted safety (found on the older Beretta models), which makes it easier to turn the safety on and off with just the flick of my thumb, and I don't have to move my hand off the target to do so. Also, the clip is easier to pull out in case it's gets jammed. Though I always wanted to own and AKS 74U

Wow, that's incredible! I'll have to once again venture into the world of Toy District in search of this. It would look nice next to my Getter Robo and Mazinger Z dealies of the same size. I remember a shop carrying EVAs around that size too.

I tried to tell an exgirlfriend about Macross (well, wasn't ex at the time). I was telling her about DYRL? specifically. I was saying it was this great love story and started going through all the parts and stuff and midway she said "Wait. Is this one of those cartoons you like to watch?" Conversation ended there

Forgive me if this question has been asked, but what's the significance of the Red Rose being on the Low-Vis Valkerie? I don't really know alot about the toy or Valkeries altogether. Is there a story behind these Low-Vis Valkeries?
-
I always preferred panel lining in greay (whether it's pencil or paint). Doing pure black gives it more of a cartoony look (like line art) but the grey is more like a light shadow in the panels. Nice job on it.

I remember seeing those a while back (well, not the fourth one. That's new to me. I'll have to check it out). I love the one with the crew doing drugs. "Our last hope now is the skull."

Yeah, the character designs through me for a loop in Part 2 also. I didn't recognize Sho (Shoyo? Shogo? I see so many translations of his name...) until someone mentioned it. And at first, I thought he lost the big eye look because he grew up, and then when it said it only been six months... 0_o And wasn't this show held in high regards because it was one of, if not the, first OVAs ever made?

And if Flora did do the Dragonbox, it would just be a rip of the MI version. If they did. Flora's market is America, reason why he includes dubs and hardly ever Chinese subs. So if he ripped anything it would be teh American sets. And if he did do the Dragonbox, it would be a rip of the MI set, which is already pretty decent. And the Dragonbox seems like a great deal. Uncut R2 versions with subtitles slapped on them. Decent subs, too. And if you do get them, don't forget to put your own review up for them on Import Anime to help others

Fanracer animation at end of SDF Macross Special
Vinny replied to ewilen's topic in Movies and TV Series
Everything about the opening is the same as the normal version for the Special's version except those pictures I posted intergrated into it. It does have the Valkerie transforming and stuff in the opening, too, which I thought someone said was the reason for making a special opening. To cut the transformation of the Valkerie. But I'm may have mistaken that it was to cut the transformation of the Macross. Which never was in the opening... I'M CONFUSED!!!!! And yeah, I do go to the MMCafe forum occasionally. I'm not into video games as much as I used to be (we all gotta grow up sometime ) so I don't visit to often. I figured some people hre visted seeing as there are some SNK avatars around, and the MMCafe is like the only video game board I know of that talks about fighting games instead of 100% RPGs (I HATE RPGS!!!) -
I liked both parts of Part III the best from the OVA. Part I was pretty good, but I didn't like Part II very much. I think the change in the art style contributed to that. Though B.D. was the coolest guy in the whole show I don't think anyone will really recognize Eve. You'll probably to most just appear to be a generic green/silver/ whatever haired girl, depending on which version of her you choose to do. And she was naked for alot of the series, also. There aren't many websites out there with pictures to reference from out ther either. But it's your choice to dres upa s who you like

Yeah those cases for the R1s looked pretty bad. my HK set for the pictures on the discs used the nice, I think it's watercolor art. I'm sure this is some big artist when it came ot Macross and some will say there names. The backing pictures (for the gatefold itself) is some big shots of Valkeries. Looks real nice. Though I'm mad I didn't get the original version's packaging, with the front picture of Hikaru with the nice shades on. That's the nice thing about HK sets. Don't have to go through copyrights Oh, and here's the specials eyecatch. Like someone said, it's the scene where Roy in Skull One flies by Hikaru in the orange valkerie to see if he's OK, just in space. And then it says Macross special, so you know what you are watching. It's shown three times through out the episode. -
Flora is the person who runs FX. FX means FlorachanXXX. He mostly just rips R1 stuff. His market appeal in in America, while most of the other places is Hong Kong (where there made). As for where you can find the Dragonbox rips, it's going to be incredibly hard. Funimation is going after all the big sellers making them take it down. Your best bet in finding it would be Ebay. Alot of HK sellers take requests, too. My shop of choice, www.import-anime.com would get it in for you. Alot of other places, like www.animeiacs.com, might get it for you too, but I'm not sure about them. Ah, here we go. http://www.animediscount.net has them. This is Flora of FX's site. Front page was boxset 6 on it. The sites reliable, from what others say. He has all 6 sets in stock, I beleive, which is episodes 1-148. Import Anime has reviews for all the sets up: http://www.import-anime.com/index.php?page=list&list=D Scroll down till you see the Dragonball Z sets. Read the MI reviews. The ones from MAC are rips of the R1 sets .
-
Yeah, the first Dragonball Z R2 boxset was ripped. MI did it first, I beleive. Each set was a three disc gatefold I beleive. Fansub scripts were used. I didn't buy them, so I'm just oging off what others who did have said. I liked the packaging, though, even though it was quite plain. Look for HKs of the second set to start coming out very soon. I doubt if you sent Flora the R2 set of Macross Plus or II he'd do a rip of it. He'd most likely just rip the R1 version as it has the subs and everything on it. Plus, his main market appeal is to dub fans, which is why he only ripped episodes one through six of the R2 Blackjack boxset, instead of all ten. Only the first six were ever dubbed. So, unless the R2 version came with the dub, too, he probably wouldn't do it. Though he did mention he's looking into doing R2 rips with fansub scripts, which I really hope he pursues And Keith, do you go to the Articnightfall forums? You're signature seems farmiliar. Unless it's a commonly used Firebombers one...

Fanracer animation at end of SDF Macross Special
Vinny replied to ewilen's topic in Movies and TV Series
And the last one of the shot of Macross in space, replacing the Valkerie turning and shooting. Just intergrate those into the normal opening Now if you excuse me, I got to go set up for a garage sale. One last edit. If anyone wants, I can post a screenshot of the special's version of the eye catch. I haven't seen teh Animeigo set so I don't know if it's on it or not. -
