The Trailer for Batman Begins is OUT!
ComicKaze replied to Anubis's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, the Batmobile is a real vehicle that has 400HP and can really jump like that without camera tricks. -
ANY movie is better with Dolph. Are you kidding? He is too girly and swave. Did you know that Dolph holds a Masters in Chemical Engineering???

I don't think Bale would ever play Bond. Bond is far too commercial. He turned down Batman until Nolan and others were in place because he thought he could bring a new angle and a dark Batman to the screen. This is the guy who became a near-skeleton for the role of the Machinist and then gained 100 pounds to play Batman in an incredibly short time. Patrick Batman...err I mean Bateman was a kickass character though. Maybe Bond could replace his PP7 with a nailgun. Another thing in common is that both of them have killed Sean Bean's character in a movie. Perhaps if it were more of a darker Bond (which has been hinted at but almost completely ignored). The kind that really drinks the vodka martinis to numb the pain of his killing, who is distant from women in order to stay alive, who is out for vengeance for his dead wife...An insanely dedicated killer, patriotic to a fault. Brosnan has shown a few elements of that side of Bond and it's really a shame he also had to wait 10 years before playing Bond because Roger Moore was hanging onto the role and then contractual obligations with Remington Steele kept him off so Dalton took over. IMHO Steele is a much cooler character than Bond and a younger Brosnan could have exuded that a little better...they also made him look much too old in the later films which I don't understand. Brosnan looks much younger in other films and in interviews when he's more disheveled. I still think Lazenby's Bond was the most creative, or perhaps it was the storyline because On Her Majesty's Secret Service was the only original Bond film with any poignancy and emotion from Bond because of obvious reasons that I won't spoil.

If I had to buy a Porsche, I'd get an older 911 (with the ugly lights) and this guy's kit. Or this one
-
OMG It all makes perfect sense now... considering who she's engaged to!!! Yeah, Seal sure needs that mask with all the scars on his face!

Ugly stance, makes Vader look even more like the kid that Anakin is. I wouldn't be scared of that Vader. He's like a giant headed guy that stands with his legs apart. Vader was a tall, imposing, regal looking figure that walked stiffly but it almost looked like he floated because of his cape in the original movies.

Nah, the seller's just adding "Macross" in the title to get more exposure/search hits.....and it worked. That is no good in my book, although putting "macross" in an orguss auction isn't quite as bad as putting it in a million videogame guidebook auctions. When you list something, you're not supposed to put in keywords for unrelated items. Doing so is called "keyword spamming" and it's against eBay rules. You're not even supposed to write, e.g., "Please view my other auctions including Macross, Sailor Moon, and Akira collectibles." But Orguss was for a long time...considered a quasi-Macross spinoff. It obviously draws many mechanical connections and even Misa is seen in Orguss haha. Macross/Orguss/Takatoku were all sort of in the same family back in the 80s.

The Cruise Chaser Blassty Repositry

They are more appealing and marketable than most designs today. Everything in animation from character to mechanics design has gone to crap. -
Look, it depends on the head designer and aesthetic of the show. Even in the original trilogy, you can see differences in ships based on faction and origin. The rebel's over look was meant to show the rag-tag appearance of a scraped-togther Rebel fleet and the very old Millenium Falcon which had been cobbled together and modified to a great extent by both Lando and Han Solo. The Imperials on the otherhand DO have a different look. Their ships take on an almost city-ship scheme, probably much like Coruscant is envisioned. The Star Destroyer is afterall, based on 20th century warships blown up to incredible scale, where instead of stacks of decks and towers looming over the hull, you have stacks of city-like terraces eventually leading to the command bridge (conning tower/bridge of a 20th century Destroyer) tower and shield emitters. But hey, look at other rebel ships. Yep, the Blockade Runner is also Corellian and was even the original Falcon's design so that matches the theme but what of the Mon Calimari ships? Those have the "smooth" hulls and lack the kibble! It because they are new ships made by an alien race that just recently joined the Rebel Alliance (they were even originally designed for space exploration and not battle). Until that point, the Rebels had to steal Nebulon B Frigates to use as their flagships. In Star Wars canon, there are literally dozens of different races and manufacturers, all who product things in different looks and aesthetics. Why says each company has to following the same trends or aging patterns? Besides, with no friction in space, having exposed parts on many vehicles and vessels makes maintainence easier for the Rebel Alliance. They don't have a monopoly of dry-docks, contruction bays, battlestations, etc. like the Imperials do. As the ruling insitution of it's time, the Republic had to have more clean looking, smooth surfaced craft to show the prestige of it's fleet. I mean, what would you think if the US army started to drive tanks and humvees with all the maintenance panels hanging off and with ammo packs, sensor gear, and other weapons bolted onto the side or duct-taped on? As bad and as admittedly offensive it could be, the Rebels are meant to be the insurgents or guerilla jungle fighters that drive around in beat-up Toyota's sporting rocket launchers and AK-47s. BUT the argument can swing the other way that smooth ships contributes to more than aesthetics. The X-Wing is functions both in planetary atmosphere and in space even though it's classed as a space superiority dogfighter. Smoother panels would make it more aerodynamic - and yet the Snow Speeders all show varying amounts of kibble...and strangely, the A-Wings have super-smooth hulls in space where it doesn't matter! Again, it's because of the manufacturer. Now, let's do the unthinkable and look to Star Trek. Star Trek's brilliant designer, Matt Jeffries insisted on the Enterprise being smooth. Yeah, it looks real boring on cheap on screen unless you add a lot of other detailing and fine airbrushing which takes work (moreso than gluing on kibble to a model). His reasoning (which eventually influnced the movies but nolonger on the newers series since TNG) was that why would you have giant Starship with parts hanging on the outside, vulnerable to attack, and difficult to reach in stressful situations? Everything should be on the inside, able to repair and replace, and protected by a thick, smooth hull (which also helps in object or weapon deflection). Some people even view that grittyness and kibbled parts is just a short-cut method of adding detail but I have to say it works and keeps things interesting.

Welcome to 1999.

Hey, different cars for different people. Personally, I don't like Audi (except the great angular Audi rally cars of the 80s) and I'm not a fan of how they look. Too round for my taste. I don't like rounded cars. Mitsubishi did try to create a more luxury/elegant Evo, with leather interior, no hood vents, subdued looks. I really like it. Perfect sleeper. The GT-A sports the prototype transmission that would later be used by BMW where it's automatic, but you can manually change gears via controls on the steering wheel (not quite F1 paddles though). Of course, you lose 20-40 BHP I'm not a fan of the Evo VIII, I think it's horribly ugly and the X concepts we've seen look like a fat whale, but the VII is my favorite car of all time.

So what? According to that the movie ends. Wouldn't this totally blow if the ending of RotS was Vader being cranked up on that table with the arms in wussy position and then screen-wipe to that "dun da dun da dun dun dun dun" Star Wars credit music.

Link is broken but Christian Bale is way more built than Hayden will ever be. Just check out American Psycho. So would win? Batman or Vader? are you kidding? batman would get cleaned out by darth vader. batman, most over rated character since wolverine, imo. Maybe David Prowse Vader but not Hayden Vader!

Lan Evo IX The stock Lancer Evo VIII MR FQ400 beat a Lamborghini Murcialago on the Top Gear test track and defeated a lot of V8's and V12's.

I still don't like the new Cyclons, ships and warriors. They just look so comically exaggerated...like tribal facemasks or something. The original Cylons were fearsome and the Raiders were sleek. Now they are flying Knight-helmet-heads with scimitar wings and the Cyclons themselves are like...ugg.

Golden Arms, the final cut of Endgame on the main DVD cuts short many of Donnie's fight scenes including the big one with Duncan in the remains of Connor's apartment. It is longer and you see more frame on the 2nd DVD (but not as much as my VCD workprint). Also, the movie was actually filmed in full frame - aka pretty much 4:3 ratio like the television series so the final DVD just basically mattes black bars onto the top and bottom so you also loose footage (this is why I wanted to find the VHS of Endgame). Wes -> I'm not saying I like the cut on the 2nd DVD of the retail DVD set better, I'm saying I like the VCD workprint better which was a bootleg leaked onto the internet which is one of those different cuts. It was never released and you can't buy it. In fact, I think I lost the discs I burned myself so I'm a little unhappy about that. I've actually just started to play guitar myself. The credits theme of Endgame is called Bonny Portmore but that's not what you're looking for. I think the guitar rendition was spliced in from part of the soundtrack called "The Legend of the Immortals". The music was orchestrated by Stephen Graziano and Nick Glennie-Smith. http://www.soundtrack.net/soundtracks/database/?id=2617 To be honest, I love this movie in all its flaws. Again, I prefer the bootleg workprint version. Still, it was the first mainstream DVD I purchased. To this day, one of the few real mainstream (if you can call it that) DVDs I own (like 5). You'd be hard pressed to find a more full-featured DVD for any film, especially an obscure one, and the care and attention to details in the set really shows it was made for the fans, appologizing for some of the films mistakes and shortcomings. I just went through the whole script-to-screen feature. What DVD features the entire shooting script of the movie? Where you can watch it adjacent to the actual scene, with production notes embedded in it explaining the changes? What DVD set would offer you two different cuts of the same movie, not just different scenes. There's got to be like 6 hours of extras on this thing too. Wow, I just discovered another feature in the script-to-screen, portions of earlier scripts that never made it...like the introduction was supposed to be in Shanghai! The DVD set isn't a short documentary on the film like most cheapass DVDs...it's more like the whole worklog complete with workprint. It's hilarious to see just how even more cheesy and low-budget the original special effects were. And they go through it on the DVD about how badly the old effects were. I appreciate that. -edit- Hah! I never knew about all these features on a disc that were PC-accessible only...I'm reading the (thankfully aborted) script version where the fatal fight between Connor and Duncan was sparked because Duncan slept with Connor's girlfriend haha! Scary thing is that they're making a Highlander 5. Even as an admitted Highlander fan, I just know how easily they make horrible screwed up pictures. Heck, I liked Endgame more because I liked the feel of the film, not because it was Highlander. And of course, I thought Donnie Yen was really cool and was disappointed at his small role in Hero. I'm glad he totally beat up Jackie Chan in SK.

So when is this show airring officially? Where can I see it on Canada? Space? What's this about NBC carrying it? I thought it was Sci-Fi only in the US? And as for Adama...I'm half-expecting him to yell: "Crockett!" and then Tubbs and Crockett pop out of a Ferrari with some hot Cylon babes.

X-Wing's fly faster when they're closed? At least in an atmosphere, I guess it's more stable. And when attacking, I guess opening them gives you a wider dispersion of laser blasts instead of two big blasts from 2 wings, you get 4...and that increases your chances of a hit.

The Ghost Who Walks get a make over

But it has way too many bulky parts to look like your typical fighter. It looks very much like a bomber I'm afraid. But hey, it's your universe. -
Uhh, that is actually very scary. Otaku calling a stranger otaku they met on the internet to talk about stuff and show each other their toys.

There's an earlier Peter Winfried appreance I enjoy more - that computer nerd off of James Bond - Goldeneye. And I was the best arround at that game(yea, everyone says that, but seeing as I only lost the first 2 multi-player games I played, I think I have some right). I would always play as his character and often yelled "I AM INVINCIBLE!" pissing off my opponents. Ahhhhh, good times. Anyways, yeah, at least he has somewhat of a career. One of the things I enjoyed about the TV series was how all these old rock stars were immortals on the show like the guy from the Who, man they make a mistake in killing him off. Roger Daltry's character, Fitz, was supposed to die in the episode he was introduced in. During the filming of that episode, though, the producers and writers decided that he was doing such a great job that they just couldn't kill him off Fitz was one of the great Highlander guest Immortals. Really gave that show depth and humour. BORIS WAS METHOS????? YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!! Fitz was an amazing character. Roger Daltrey was great in that role and it looked like he enjoyed it. It was sad when he finally lost his head. As great a Highlander fan I am, I just can't stand the Brenda Wyatt character. Her personality is grating and she isn't good to look at either. They should have swapped her with the actress that played Connor's wife in Scotland. She ruins the entire movie for me. And as for Endgame, I love this movie. Have you ever seen a DVD were the second disc was a complete workprint of the movie? That shows the dedication to fans. Unfortunately, it is only one version of the workprint. I have a low quality one that is absolutely amazing in terms of the music (which was never heard in the final), editing, and story. I think that's the best version and it's sad that it was never officially released. I bought this movie because I'm a big Donnie Yen fan as well. I think he scenes were great. Highlander Endgame was actually the first mainstream hollywood (if you can call it that) DVD that I purchased in a store. As for the movie itself, there's only one disappointment I have with it, and that's the makeup crew were horrible with Christopher Lambert. This guy is supposed to be immortal, and you can see on the cover and his interview scenes that he easily looks young, fit, and gritty in the part. The stupid makeup guys made him look like he was in his 60s, combing his hair back all the way and giving him a clean cut. They should have had Connor look as he did in 1986-1993, with day-growth beard and dirty blonde hair. Connor looks absolutely senile throughout the movie. Yes, it's supposed to be showing that he's tired of life...but he looks the same in the 1990 flashback to New York where they order Hot Dogs (they actually dressed a Romanian city as New York for the movie). Other problems I have are with the final editing being senseless. Somehow Duncan and Kell fall down a ledge in a cathedral and they are suddenly in a steam-and-fire- factory . ?! Couldn't you be more creative than this guys? Also, if you watch the DVD cut, you'll see that they play the same scene TWICE! I wonder where all that funny magic stuff they had in the trailers (like Duncan and Connor jumping through a glowing portal) came from. Aside from it's problems, Endgame is a beautiful production, with great locales in Europe and good artistic work on a small budget. I still love my workprint version the best. It had much better music and sentimentality than the final version. Although the Christmas Tree ending that's featured on the workprint on the DVD is also good too. It's a great set to own, because you can see all the chaos that a Highlander production is. They must've changed the story every week making this thing!

Wow! Keith suggesting you should pick up the MII DVD! Unheard of! Anyway, yes I liked the disc a lot when I first got it. It's nothing spectacular. A very fun thing to do is to turn on the subtitles (most of them are soft subs) while running the English language track and seeing how different they are.

Isn't this the show that will be on Spike TV soon?
