There was only so much they could do with only one episode left. It should've been an hour long episode at the least if they were going to do that. But this is a classic syndrome. You knew Sousuke was going to be pretty much invincible anyway once he figured out the Lamba driver - which I still don't get. What did he solve? Finding his "uselessness?" Confidence in his only being human? I find I could care less about the AS battles anymore. They are too predictable in this series. The promise in this series was finally getting genuine military mecha that were realistic, but now that there is the Lamba driver, this is just another robot show. All I can say is poor Tessa. They are just postponing her getting her heart broken in another series.

I guess you've missed the most important advancement: Internet Since GitS and NGE, Anime soared in popularity, adding the internet age and instead of the few 'classic' series brought over, the floodgates opened 338926 I guess you've missed the point of my post. It has nothing to do with the internet, content delivery, or popularization of anime. It has to do with the actual animation of said anime. I am not a fan of the remakes of "classic" series such as Gits and Bubblegum Crisis 2040. I can't stand the overt usage of CG. BUT it can be said that the trend of the widespread dissemination and popularization of anime via the internet, that it also coincides with the trend of the digitization of the animation process because computer technology develops hand in hand. Think about it, there are very few animes from the so-called internet era that are actually have hand-painted cels. But when I first got into getting anime online, it was all 15-20MB epsiode rm or asf rips from the old VHS tapes which mostly contained older animes - even from the days when fansubbing was done VIA mailing tapes back and forth. These days, people have little knowledge of these animes or that era.

For many people, the distinction from old and new comes around the 1995-2000 era when the cel process became predominantly digital.

Why Macross 7 never release in the US

They can't release it due to song liscensing, they'd probably have to add in a whole different soundtrack. That's be hilarious. -
Orginial Mina the Moon Rabbit Girl video from 1983

Just on the border of your waking mind...there lies another time... Where darkness and light are one And as you tread the hall of sanity...you feel so glad to be unable to go beyond I have a message from another time! I loved oldskool 80s animation, music, and effects. Sigh, Gainax was so good back then. But yeah, all that I've ever seen is low quality tape versions which is too be expected. 30MB AVI is all I have right now. -
And Macross helmets would give you no visability if you looked downward even just slightly. Anyway, these are real helmets painted with Gundam-esque themes, resembling more like mobile suits than the helmets the actual pilots wear.

Ouch, that hurts. I hate 13-episode series. The FMP anime series always mess around with the manga arcs. Most of Fumoffu are just side stories or highschool stories that appear every now and then in the regular manga. This was just getting really really good - except that all the people in Hong Kong were voiced by Japanese voice actors and none of them can speak cantonese properly.

Any 20 or 30 something HK residents?

It's part of Stephen Chow's credits on IMDB.com -
Patlabor the movies are very different from the series and OAVs though. While those have their fair share of political thriller/drama, they are mostly action or hilarious comedy and I loved it. Patlabor the TV and OAV series(s) are my favorite anime of all time.

Oh come on, Lazenby did just as good a job and that was his first movie ever. Most people thought he WAS Sean Connery. 336919 Lazenby is still my favorite Bond. That was truely the only Bond film with any grit and darkness like the Fleming novels, but keeping the requisite 60s charm that Connery started. What a tragic and gritty ending to On Her Majesty's Secret Service. No other Bond film is like that. It's was purely unique. Every other Bond film ends up with Bond and the girl in some wierd contraption or place, while M calls and accidentally stumbles into the awkward scene where Bond shuts him off and slips back under the covers with Bond babe. But OHMSS is completely different. I don't want to spoil if you haven't seen it. And Brosnan should've been Bond back in the 80s when he was first offered the part but had his contractual obligations to Remington Steele. And if you read the original novels, they are truely dark and nothing like the Bond we've seen in the past 30 years because they have tried to pander it to PG audiences. Casino Royale is said to reveal Fleming’s deep hatred of women and a twisted sado-masochistic sexuality. Bond toyed with the idea of marrying his fellow spy Vesper Lynd because, "the conquest of her body, because of the central privacy in her, would each time have the tang of rape". He also wants to rape her because his testicles get tortured in the story and he wants to prove desperately that he can still do it. But anyway, the new film has already lost some edge because apparentely, Bond is barred from smoking in it.

Naruto and Bleach are the two most bandwaggony animes out there. I'm sick of teeny-boppers going nuts over these two series. And I don't goto the anime club on my campus. It doesn't appear that a majority of them bathe.

Show off your coolest non-Macross toys & models

wow what an awesome exotic collection you got! Aint that on the upper right corner one of those transformers that transforms into a jeep? It's pretty nice articulated. 336360 It's the Mugen Calibur from Dorvack and no, it's not very articulated and neither is the Transformers version "Roadbuster". Still, my favorite Transformer of 1985 and I actually prefer Roadbuster's color scheme.- 80 replies

I just emulate it. On my PSP, at that. The PSP has a great Gameboy Color emulator. Seriously, I'm not all that bothered by the fact that my Micro doesn't play older Gameboy games, because I sold them off years ago. Just like I no longer own any NES, SNES, or N64 carts. Actually (and I have the Pearl Blue SP with the new backlit screen, too), the newer SP uses the same technology as the Micro. And being able to to a side by side comparison, it actually works better for the Micro. The new SP has a few issues with the refresh rate, and only two brightness levels, not quite bright enough and way too bright. Not to mention the fact that, if you like it brighter, you have to change it manually every time you turn the SP on. The Micro has several brightness levels (my personal preference being just one above the dimmest), and it remembers where you set it. 335051 You can also emulate GB and NES and Master System, and a whole whack of stuff on the GBA, which is pretty much what I do. It's amazing to see these old games on a small backlit LCD. As for the SP vs Micro debate, the SP screen is the same resolution as the micro, but the screen is much bigger and well...bigger is better in my opinion irregardless of light levels and I haven't noticed any refresh rate/response time issues.

I don't think it's been posted here yet but the NEW GBA SP has the BEST SCREEN out of either the Micro or the DS! The new GBA SP backlit screen is amazing, but Nintendo didn't announce the change because they didn't want to detract from sales of the Micro. My Video

I want a mode where you can date the Ridge Racer girls for winning races. Or actually, don't need the racing part altogether.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture did this already. Turned out to be V'Ger all along. 330446 But we only have Fat William Shatner and he may be dead by 2014!!! Who will save us???

Thankfully, he didn't sing He just did the "Space: the final frontier..." intro, and an opera singer sang. 329853 What did the Opera Singer sing? Lyrics or just the melody? Luh-Laa! Lalalalalaaaa! Luh-LAA! Lalalalaaaa! (lalala lala la) Luh-Luh Le-Luh-Le Le Luh-La Le Luh Luuh La LA LAA LAAA LAAAAA LAAAAAAAA!

So did anybody catch the Star Trek theme on the Emmy's yesterday? I didn't see it. Any video clips of it anywhere?

My problem is the modern art style is so washed out, guzzy, and bland pastel looking because the animation cels are nolonger genuine photographic cels which are hand-painted, rather they farm it all out to CG artists in Korea who just color everything inside the computer and it comes out bland and lacking any sort of sharpness or character in the animation. You nolonger have the amazing detail and actual pen strokes and texture in the ink lines, you nolonger have hand-painted backgrounds, you nolonger have hand-painted reflections and shadows and shading, etc. You nolonger have the vibrant and vivid super-saturation of colors in the old style of animation. Everything is so digital these days. Basically it's like comparing Return of the Jedi effects with Revenge of the Sith Effects. The latter is so contrived, fake, and just fuzzy and bland in it's CG totality that it's boring as hell. The same thing happened to anime after the mid-late 90s. The same thing happened in Manga, artists just take the lazy way out and use a computer to paint fill a gradient onto the backgrounds of manga cells. There is too much digital in everything and while that can be done good, it instead seems to lower the quality overall because people will invariably use it to take shortcuts and save money instead.

PICTURE! 327528 SECONDED! 327649 Make that three! 327658 Fourth'd! Or I'll DIGITIZE YOU.

Didn't the Energizer like totally own all the other vehicles though because it couldn't be hit and output an amazing amount of epilipsy? If only it did the same in the final episode. Fear Lord Dread! Sure he's a Vader ripoff being a cyborg in black...but he looks much better. Say what you will but I loved these powersuits as a kid. They'd kick the asses of any other Sentai team. I like how each suit really has a purpose and is designed to look that way.

I couldn't stand Natsumi and Miyuki in the Live Action versions. Why, they completely stripped everything about these characters away and made them brash and unlikable. Miyuki can't even fix her own car, she's nolonger a mechanic! She has to take everything to this bunch of guys to fix and she's not sweet and gentle anymore. She's like more butch than Natsumi.

That was in the movie because Murcielago is a bat in Spanish.
