  1. It feel great to finish a model, right, @pengbuzz? She looks ready for open sea. Thank you @Focslain! Thank you @foundshaian. And yes, that is the Yamato herself, from the reboot series Space Battleship Yamato, 2199. That's my second kit of it as I gave the first to a friend, but until recently this one had been sitting on a shelf gathering more dust than paint. Now I finally got some paint going again! And next on the table is the Asuka! This one is commanded by Captain Yuki Mori in the third series, 2205. Except for a goof on my part and some greebling, this is almost a shake-n-bake kit.
  2. That looks like fun. Has a Happy Death Day vibe.
  3. @Chas The Cordoba's design is so cool! Blunt, powerful and bristling with weapons. Yours is looking great! @derex3592 You think that's small, you should watch some watch repair videos on youtube. Talk about tiny parts! But at least they are not all PE, as that would be a real nightmare! As for so much time for each gun, there's a reason why ship models take so long. Some real nice work. @Chronocidal The Arwing looks like it would fit just naturally into Star Wars as a snub fighter! All praise for the guy who transferred it into 3D, and to you for tackling it! Can't wait to see more of it. As for me, I finally finished the Haruna. She'd been sitting sadly on a shelf, incomplete for about five or so years... I used some misc decals to make the landing deck behind the tower, and yes I inadvertently made an RAF roundell in the center... The story behind it is that after the Earth/Garmillas war in 2199, Earth found a few abandoned ships in the Sol System, one of them being this Gaideral class battleship. After reverse engineering it and testing it against UNCN ships the choice was either to use it for target practice, or refurbish it. The latter choice was taken and she was regunned, reengined and given a new command tower, and commissioned into the Cosmo Navy as the Haruna. At some point, I think I'll give it some newer turrets off of a Dreadnought. And in formation with the Kirishima (red) and Murasame (blue). Thom
  4. @Chronocidal That print looks really good. But... If I had to guess, it looks like the beginning of a Starfox Arwing (?)
  5. Confusion is the death of a franchise. They need a media blitz to tell everyone who is in, who is out and what's happening. I probably will go see this in the theater, but I do understand the reasons for not, esp if this (like black Adam) is just a dead end.
  6. It's spelled fanboi... But yes, good looking collection.
  7. @sh9000 Outstanding! I love the lights in it and nice touches of grime.
  8. @Rock Sad to say, some model companies want to make us work rather than have fun with their kits!. You'd think that after decades of complaints, they'd at least have the gear doors match the opening, even if they are supposed to be posed open. It can't be that hard to do... Oh well, glad Mirage is seated now. For the gear doors, it may be easier to just make some new ones from sheet plastic. @MechTech No problem! As for the detail, I new a lot would not be seen straight on, but when looking down through the cockpit glass and into the open back end, it makes it nice and busy.
  9. @Rock It's a real good bit of work getting that to fit, considering the stance the figure has. Had. Much easier if it had come with a half figure for a seated option.
  10. You do some great figures, @arbit. Welcome back!
  11. That really was a great scene. but then I thought, 'We'll be watching...' and he immediately turns away! Now, yes, I know the symbolism and the dismissal implicit in that moment, but I still chuckled a little at the unintended visual.
  12. She's sittin' pretty, @Rock!
  13. Just the view through the main canopy, which is a good size, and in from the rear which is open.
  14. Have most of the work done on my Lancaster interior. Need to finish the belts, some paint touch ups and a clear coat. Almost ready to close up.
  15. @Rock Was going to suggest seeing if you could lower the seat pan itself the required bit.
  16. He had a few good movies before, but I think Top Gun did make him.
  17. Makes one wonder who came first, the actor or the character...?
  18. No, I meant the character of Maverick in the movie. Several lines point out that the only reason Maverick was still in the Navy was because Iceman kept going to bat for him. Once he died, Maverick was immediately shat canned,
  19. It is very entertaining, and poignant. I last saw the first movie thirty years ago, so as Maverick was having his flashbacks I was there right along with him, hazily remembering those scenes. I also like that that was where he 'peaked.' The last three decades he'd been riding Iceman's coattails.
  20. That is so awesomely put, I love it!🤣 We could view Picard as an all-around Trouble-Shooter, not content with one adversary, but taking everyone's!
  21. Agreed, the Borg got Worfed. Since they could not be allowed to win they had to be 'lessened,' but we have to consider that 'in universe,' before Q forced the introduction, the Federation had no knowledge of the Borg including what they're weaknesses were. But after Wolf 359, they are on a steep learning curve and you start to get to know your enemy, and so does the audience. They lose the mystique and unknown dread. And as we have seen throughout Star Trek in its many incarnations, the Federation is nothing if not fiendish at quickly finding weaknesses and advancing tech to overcome what was before an insurmountable foe. Like the Aliens compared to Alien, the mystery has to be stripped away a bit, otherwise the good guys win not because they were smart and inventive, but because they had plot armor. But back to the original point, personally, I've never had a problem with a bit of alien-threat poaching among the shows. They are all in the same universe after all and to have villainous races being specific to each show comes off as unrealistic. To me, anyway.
  22. @Rock Would love to have a statue of Mirage in a slightly larger scale, like 1/8. And the puppy is just reminding you that modeling should be all fun and games!😉
  23. A good show for Picard would have been to combine him with the purposed Academy series, put him in a mentor/professor role on a training ship and then let the 'fun' happen. But for what we got, season 3 was the most ST and I would rather just ignore the first two seasons. For Disco, season 2 was the only good one, and a lot of that had to do with Mount's Pike. I liked the story line of the AI and them having to go into the future to save the present, but then season 3 just did not follow through on the promise of it, The Emerald Chain was just stupid and the reason for the Burn was just effin stupid. If I watch season 4 it's going to be because I am bored. As for the Borg, I don't think of them as exclusive to any one show, nor for any of the adversaries for that matter. That's like saying only Kirk can face-off against the Klingons as he was the first to tangle with them. As for them coming off as neutered, I don't think it's that their threat was lessened, but only that we are familiar with them now. There can be only one Best of Both Worlds.
  24. But making the sense to use them would have made it a lot better. To me, that would be like not using the F-14 in the original movie despite it being the most high-tech/capable plane at the time. Now I have no problem with them using the FA-18, I love that plane and it is still the backbone of the fleet, but they missed an opportunity to 'introduce' the F-35 to the viewer. They didn't even have to show them at first, but just mention them in planning even vaguely. Then when Hangman comes in at the end with the rescue, he's leading a flight of F-35s to go after any Felon's standing between Mav/Rooster and safety. Of course, all this brings in the fact that they really could have used more Navy involvement, both in deciding what kind of mission to use as a template and for more realistic cockpit situations.
  25. Man, that;s beautiful! Not for Jedda of course, but wow.
