Love to see this continuing. I didn't see Legacy, but all the ones with Damon are stellar! I like that stiles is coming back, as they have a history that needs to be explained - and our boy Jason needs a new squeeze! The first was in 2002, so that's fourteen years... Damon was all 'fresh-faced' when that came out!

Ye's it's a bash between a Tamiya P-47 and a Koster vacform kit of the XP-47. The white is what I cut from the Koster kit, as I wanted to keep as much of the Tamiya detail as possible.

Currently? As in other projects not yet done but moving on anyway..? XP-47H in 1/48

Very nice. Do you have plans to produce this for others..?

Yes, Starkiller Base is not only a massive energy weapon, but it is also a hyperspace generator. That's how it's beam crossed so much distance so quickly, and it's even said to that effect in the Resistance command center. And no, they are not in the same system, which is why the whole scene of everyone seeing Hosnian Prime being destroyed ends up as just a bad redo of the shot of Vulcan being consumed while standing on a planet nowhere near it. In that scene it actually would have been better to use the scene from ANH, where Obiwan feels the destruction of Alderaan. Although in this instance, it probably would have been Maz who felt it. (Not that I'll let that ruin my fun!) And it was my impression that the star does not go out. It merely dims as Starkiller Base sloughs off the top layers, which is then replenished over time. I don't recall any dialogue of the sun being snuffed out. What I really wish, was that the movie was just ten or fifteen minutes longer. It doesn't take much dialogue or screen time in a movie to get the subplots better fleshed out.

And that's what it is all about! So what if it is not totally original? And in what sense? Good fighting evil? Plucky heroes battling against sinister foes? A journey across a vast distance to reach safety and or the prize? And a climactic battle to cap it all off? That sounds like almost every movie ever made, and almost every story ever written. What matters is how they get from point A to point B, and I think they did damn good! It was exciting and nostalgic, and I was rooting for the good guys and pitying the bad guy. That's one of the things I liked a lot about it to, in that we've seen Jedi tempted by the Dark Side. Now we have a bad guy who had been temped by the Light. It was the crux of Han and Kylo's meeting on the bridge. They were both talking about two different outcomes, but in a way that Han thought they were talking about the same decision. It has to do with every generation always choosing the newer product, because very few of what was made thirty or forty - or seventies - years ago does not age well. The ones that do are very rare. Take myself for example. When the new Space Battleship Yamato 2199 came out, I compared it to the original. The only interest I had in it was the story line. I didn't like any of the voice acting or the clunky visuals, or the animation that was terribly showing it's wear. Which is another point. We can do shows now with far more definition and detail than ever before, so it's no mystery as to why the old shows are just that. Old. I bet that any child who saw Snow White or Cinderella when they were new in the theaters, would choose them over black and white Tom and Jerry or Betty Boop. It's not just this generation that abandons the entertainments of the old. It's every generation.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in theaters Dec. 16, 2016

If we go Prequel-less, then no he didn't. But we must assume that the prequels do exist even as the EU has been wiped clean. And in that context, he knew she was pregnant, but must have assumed the child died as well. In any case, and all we can do is close our eyes and go 'La-La-La!!' -
There's no nuance. Stay in prison and do nothing to help POWs - or get out of prison to help POWs. He chose the latter.

It was a choice. Stay in prison, or save his fellow servicemen who he lamented losing at the end of First Blood. It was a choice and he made the right one. When Trautman arrived with the offer, that was the war coming to Rambo's doorstep, even if he was living in a prison. There is no way the Rambo from First Blood could have turned him down. In fact, I think that even if he would have been tossed right back into jail if he survived the mission, he still would have gone.

And why would Obiwan or Owen or Beru be using the name Skywalker anywhere but in secret? Obiwan is the first to call him a Skywalker. We don't know if anyone else around there even knew of the name. And if even so, some twenty years after the birth of the Empire, how would the name Skywalker even move from the distant Lars moisture farm all the way to Mos Eisly? Much less the correct ears to get the name all the way to the Emperor's right hand? And to point out, whether the prequels were planned at the inception of Ep4 or not, Leia asks only for General Kenobi. Not his apprentice. For anyone else but the Jedi Council, the name Skywalker was hardly a blip in the sensors, and after the destruction of the Jedi, it is more than likely that it simply vanished. No one cared about the name or who he had been. And as has been pointed out, Vader thought his son had died with Padme. There was no reason to even think of the name Skywalker anymore. So, all Vader's connections to the Skywalker name were severed, the name itself had no historical regard, neither Luke's family or Obiwan were going to even mention the name, and a planet-wide desert is a big place for an inconsequential name of a poor moisture farmer to get lost in. -
That would be interesting. Young Ben Solo has a crush on Mara Jade and that feeds his resentment. Then he finds out he's Vader's grandson and goes looking for answers about Anakin Skywalker, which then brings him into contact with Snoke. Snoke then builds on that jealous resentment to turn young Ben to the Dark Side. He then kills Mara if he can't have her, which fits into the novel universe where the son of Han and Leia kills Luke's wife. But, this is after Mara has hidden her daughter, Rey, on Jakku with on old enemy who owes her a debt. Thus hiding Rey from Kylo Ren and Snoke. And incidentally, her husband Luke, who by this point thinks she's dead. If they had to do a Death Star type super-weapon, then I wish they could have done something like the Darksabre from the novel. Or someone saw BSG Blood and Chrome...

Or do as I'm going to do, and don't watch EP 1 ever again!! It itself is almost a completely closed movie, with no storylines that extend to the following films that those films themselves don't already discuss. As stated by the Machete Order, where you watch Eps 4 and 5, then skip back to 2 and 3, before going on to 6, it knocks midichlorines out almost entirely while still preserving the shock aspect of Vader announcing that he is Luke's father. As I understand it, there is an uneasy truce between the New Republic and the Empire Remnant. Leia has burned her bridges in the new Senate as being a war hawk and crying Wolf, so she has turned the Rebels into the Resistance and continues the fight against the First Order. Some in the Republic support her and her forces, which leads to the First Order destroying the Senate, which has taken to rotating its sessions between the capitols of the member worlds. None of this is explained in the movie however, which is sad. I would have gladly watched another thirty minutes of it just to know all that, without having to go through multi-media such as the cutaway and art books. And apparently there were some scenes shot with members of the New Republic Senate. But they were cut... I can only hope we will get an extended version when it comes to DVD!

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Thom replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, I'm pretty sure the whole movie won't be a Beastie Boys video. And that actually hearkens back to the first JJ film, when young Kirk was driving the classic Corvette. I actually liked it. It rocked, which I think after the last movie, the series needed. I'm sure the next trailer will probably be more in depth. As for the movie, it would appear that yet another Enterprise has given it's swan song. Which raises hopes for the next Enterprise! Hopefully it will be Excelsior-esq, as was originally intended for the end of ST III. And yeah, more action. If we want something more cerebral, I think we'll have to wait for the next ST series next year. Or is it after next year..? For the movies, expect action, though I do hope we have some moments of plot building fed in there.- 466 replies

Independence Day: Resurgence, in theaters June 24, 2016

Yeah, the alien tech is really something that turns me off about the fighter. Sleek and beautiful otherwise. Have to see how it works on film. I kept hoping they were retractable in some way. If they make a kit, I'll have to see about integrating them somehow so they're not so obnoxious hanging out there. Really ruins the lines! But the movie looks good. Or as good as a sequel to ID4 can be at any rate. And did anyone else notice that that was Washington DC being scooped up by a big alien 'shovel...' I'll be going to watch!- 277 replies
