I just set up my Hikaru VF-1J and two Regults. I'm so happy to finally have enemy mecha. I can hardly believe that we're gonna have the whole lineup on our shelves eventually. Didn't think it would ever happen. Huge thanks to whoever made this happen over at Bandai! Good times.

My GBP VF-1J is out for delivery! Gonna set him up against my two Regults. Finally! Can't wait to get TV versions of everyone: Roy, Hikaru, Max (A/J), Millia, Kakizaki. Maybe couple A and J cannon fodders. That'll be glorious. Oh yeah, we need the VF-1D too. And all the Destroids! Also I do hope that Bandai takes a stab at the VF-2SS at some point.

As much as I would love for them to offer missile pods separately, I doubt it'll happen. They're going to want to sell us as many variants of these as possible. I hope I'm wrong.

Well, it IS huge. It IS a relatively niche item in Japan with limited appeal to the broader market (let's face it, most Macross fans are older). And it's expensive. I have to admit, I wonder how many Japanese fans are gonna spring for the Monster. Space is an issue in Japan, so there are probably a lot of collectors who may pass on the Monster just because of that. And while the hardest of the hardcore will happily spend the money on it, there are probably more who won't. Hopefully Bandai has taken these things into account and won't kill the line if the Monster doesn't do as well as they'd like.

I'm interested, but it's Toynami. I'll wait for reviews and probably the bargain bin. There's no way they're getting $400 from me right outta the gate.

I'm cool with just one Glaug and two Regults. I dunno how these guys can be shelf puppies; we've never gotten enemy mecha in toy form before. Do Japanese collectors not want their Valkyries to have anyone to go up against in their displays? My Regults should arrive today along with MP Hot Rod.

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

I got the first one. The second one doesn't look like him, really. I assume Enterbay is saving the tongue headsculpt for some future release, because it hasn't been featured in any of the MJ figures so far. Wish I could get a set of "shooting hands," the ones with the fingers splayed. Those are included in the black uniform MJ and the Last Shot MJ. I'd love to get a backboard, but I don't have the space for it. -

Nope. That's the one everyone's been waiting for. No sign of it so far. -

I broke down and bought an alternate headsculpt for MJ on eBay. I had to; he just looked too weird in any kind of action pose with the standard calm expression. Really creepy. -

Added MJ to the shelf a couple of months ago. Not a sports collector, but that's one I had to have. Fantastic piece. -

This coming week is gonna be one of the best ever for me, as far as hauls go. - MP Hot Rod - Hi-Metal R GBP Armored VF-1J Hikaru - Hi-Metal R Regult x 2 - Wei Jiang Oversized AoE Evasion Mode Optimus Prime - Dr. Wu MP Bumblebee replacement faces (silver) Can't wait. -
Now that we've got Regults on the way, which Valk do you guys think is gonna be released next (after the VF-1S Focker Strike)? I'm hoping for the VF-1D.

Skullshadow99 "I think you should work on your enunciation as well as accent. The thick accent makes this very cringe worthy to watch." Wow. I don't even know what to say to that.
-
I just did that very thing. Cost me $150. Dang it.
-
Hmm. So Bandai's Hi-Metal R is doing for Macross what George Lucas and Kenner did for Star Wars when they introduced the 4-inch figure scale. Makes sense! Then again, Star Wars Black Series cranked out a 6-inch scale T.I.E. fighter. Good Lord!
-
Damn straight! This looks like our best chance to get a complete collection, to me. Looking at that lineart, I guess the scale IS correct. I just always figured that a Zentran pilot was the same size as a Valkyrie in battroid mode, using the Hikaru VF-1J versus Breetai fight as a reference. Breetai is way bigger than a normal Zentran though. Speaking of Breetai, do you think we'll see him in the Hi-Metal R line, or will he be a larger-sized Figuarts?
-
I just pulled the trigger on a Hi-Metal R GBP Hikaru VF-1J, just so he can fight the Regults that are on the way. Gotta recreate that opening credits scene! Something tells me I'm gonna end up (sorta) double-dipping on Hikaru if they do a TV version, though. Impatience is a terrible thing. I want TV versions of all of them! I hope we get a VF-1D soon, with Hikaru and Minmay.

CDJapan is on it! Regults on the way! Do they include stands?
-
I've got two Regults coming from CDJapan and a Glaug from AmiAmi. I can't afford to troop-build with these guys, but at least I'll have those three. I didn't think we'd be waiting quite this long to get proper toys of these core characters/enemy mecha. At least it's finally happening. Hm. Now I'm wondering if I should spend the money on Hikaru's armored VF-1J or wait for a release of the Valkyrie without the GBP armor. The armor is nice, but I don't really need it. Decisions, decisions.
-
That really isn't a bad price at all, considering how friggin' huge the Monster is. Still, I may have to pass simply because I've nowhere to put it.
-
I missed most of the 1/60's and frankly I'm not willing to wait for Arcadia to figure out which ones they want to give us (either as re-issues or new releases), when and for how much. They're taking way too long and I just don't want to drop that much cash every time they do put something out ($250-plus). I'm going to have to go with the HMR 1/100's. I think I've got a much better chance at completing my collection with them, and for quite a bit less money. I loved the 1/60's, they're absolutely beautiful toys.. but for me, that ship has sailed.
-
I think this is the first time I've ever looked at packaging for a toy and felt anything for it. Isn't the Hi-Metal R line doing something similar with their packages? Takatoku. Man, that takes me back.
-
Wow, that packaging is all love. It looks great and so does the figure itself. This will be my SDF-1.

Regults up at AmiAmi if anyone wants them. http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIGURE-014125&page=top
