The computer and electronics super geek thread
myk replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Funny that you mention that. I was building my own laptop on their site, and one of their options is called "Clean slate" or something. Basically, Sony claims that they'll leave you with just the operating system on the laptop, in a way admitting to their bloatware practices. Naturally, they charge you a nice premium just to "not program" your computer with something......LOL -
The reviewer in the video states that he had paint chips on some of the joint areas, and to me that's acceptable, considering that if I'm going to own something it's going to get used and it will suffer the usual chips, scratches, etc. The comment he made about some lions with their springs and stuff popping out is not a good sign, however. And, I'm not sure about the Tonka look of the toy itself. Ultimately I would agree with the reviewer in the video about the high price, however the problem of premium prices attached to obviously sup-par toys/collectibles is the nature of the beast and collecting in general. Yamato anyone? Most of us have grudgingly learned to live with it. The bright side of that video was the idea of Bandai possibly releasing a Go-Lion; now that's something I could look forward to...

I guess you're right. I know of a guy running 17's up front and 18's in the back but I don't know if I'm ready for the Hot Wheels look, lol. I'm definitely narrowing in on 17 or 18" gunmetal torq-thrust 2 type wheels...

Lion-O positively SUCKS, which is why I'm glad he usually falls on his face every episode. Tygra's damn right he doesn't deserve the sword or Cheetara. Hell Lion-O is the only figure of the 2011 line that I haven't bought because I hate him so much, and in terms of this cartoon I don't really care about the tired and cliched "he's a young, brash yet powerful boy that is destined to be fashioned into a venerable leader" tripe. In any case, I haven't seen the new episode(s) but I really hope the animation hasn't declined THAT much...

I would venture to say that not one person would know about Hunger Games if it wasn't hyped up by Hollywood. On that note, I'm glad that Hollywood steps in every once in a while to bring a good story to life, it's just a tradgedy that most will never take the effort to read the books and truly experience what the writer was trying to create. It's also a greater tradgedy when Hollywood ruins these stories but what can we do...

Oh really? Cool, what kind of a car were they on?

'Dragon Tattoo, 'Potter, and Hunger Games are great stories; don't let these mind numbing, made for the idiot public movies and the slobbering mainstream media scare you away from a great story. Read the books, stay away from the movies, and you'll see what I mean. Those of us who have read the books and have the intelligence to appreciate the material have nothing but disdain for the movie versions. As for the Hunger Games, I enjoyed the books, so I was looking forward to seeing this movie, although these books are SO 2009. I figured that there was no way they could screw this movie up. Guess I was wrong? I'll get around to seeing it but not hearing anything positive about it...

Oversize rallye wheels, that's cool! As for the turbine wheels, I might have considered those in a larger size than I already have, but I'm sure they don't make it any larger than 15". In regards to Foose-no way. Anything larger than 18" on a car looks cartoonish to me; even the local exotics dealer with the Aston Martins parked outside with their 20" wheels look, I dunno, strange IMO. Some cars can pull off 20" or larger, most of them can't, again in my humble opinion. Besides, unless you're pushing serious torque larger wheels will just kill your performance right? Someone correct me if I'm wrong? Unfortunately, I think I might go with a Torq-Thrust II type wheel, possibly in a grey/gunmetal to try and be unique as well as keep my car as low key as possible...

None, it's a Wal*Mart after all. Nothing sits on these shelves for very long. And besides, if T-formers or Star Wars go on clearance it's only certain items, not the whole lineup like they're doing with T-cats. On that note, a friend of mine picked up a Thundertank from Target as they were all put on clearance as well. I'm not predicting doom just observing the signs...

Battlestar Galactica Discussion IV with Blood And Chrome
myk replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just started watching the "new" BSG again after all these years, and I've forgotten just how great television can be. Everything from the swirling space battles, revamped Cylons, gritty interactions between the people, the BRRRrrrrppp of the Viper's guns or even watching, waiting to see what slinky outfit #6 is going to materialize in next and how Baltar stumbles throught it all just testifies to how memorable this series is. Who knows what other spin-offs or future incarnations of BSG there'll be, but at least we'll always have this BSG to enjoy. BRRRRrrrppp!!!! Boomer: "We had sex." Doral: "Congratulations." LOLz!- 698 replies

You know I was just thinking about white the other day, and that's what the original color of the car was anyway. As for the wheels......yeah I've always wanted new ones but don't even know where to begin. 99% of wheels styles out there DO NOT belong on classic cars, and I don't want to do the Torq-Thrust dance because everyone else has them already. If you guys like a certain type of wheel or even what size of wheel you prefer I'd like to hear about it; I'm planning on getting 17's, possibly 18's...

Battlestar Galactica Discussion IV with Blood And Chrome
myk replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
People are probably just sick of hearing it-hasn't it been covered a bunch of times for a variety of t.v. shows, movies, etc? The latest example would be the watered down version of 'Dragon Tattoo for the US market. I personally don't mind it but I can see where others are annoyed. However if I hear it in a Thundercats 2011 episode I will have to kill someone. As for the new BSG? Eh. Guess we'll just wait and see, but no #6, Racetrack, or at least a Boomin Boomer or similar piece of eye candy doesn't bode well for me...- 698 replies

Whether it's too close to the comic or not isn't a point that concerns me. Now, a hooded ninja character with a gleaming sword and two pet walkers, or a group of characters who are suddenly lamenting Shane's death when no one really seemed to care either way for him up to this point makes me think, "forced, rushed, bad writing/story planning," etc. I've been a staunch supporter of the television show, fending off savage attacks from comic book fanbois that are almost like a group of hungry walkers, but they've left things off on a very odd note...

I'll be happy if they did away with the wacky boob-motion programming that they featured in the last DOA. I don't need Tecmo and their independently gyrating and jiggling breasts to remind me that I think about mammary glands all day...

What made me go "hmmm" was Rick's allowing he and Shane to go out as far as they did; Rick knew what was going on, what was going to happen. I guess he knew they needed to play their issues out to their conclusion...
