  1. There's more to the Avenger movie than "slam bang action," although I will grant you not much. RDJ's performance is exemplary, the banter between the characters, whether that's in the shape of humorous dialogue or raging super-hero fist fights, and the incredible fact that once paper-born heroes are now on the big screen are the rewards for watching this movie. Critics need to stop looking for gold in a bucket when there just isn't any to be found. Avengers makes NO promises to be the sort of movie that would carry greater substance and weight as some of you feel that it should. Would you expect superb gas mileage, utilitarian cargo space and low maintenance costs on a new Mustang? Would you seek out tire shredding power, timeless styling and head turns from the opposite sex in a Smart Car? No, and no. The Avengers movie is what it is and you have to look at it as such. As for the Avenger movie being an indicator to the sad state of society? Really? C'mon dude, no offense but lighten up...
  2. She looks especially delicious in the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" movies. What happened to her in the 1st movie was a little on the rough side, though. Nevertheless, she is definitely attention-grabbing...
  3. Wooooowwww!!!! Thanks for posting that link!
  4. What, that they provide entertainment? That's a crime now?
  5. Well, instead of a 'mech I wish they or someone else would develop the first skin-job type of Cylon. I would love to wake up to my very own copy of Ariel Rebel or Scarlett 'Jo...
  6. Like Keith implied, you need to regard Avengers for what it is, which is a super-hero team-up movie that's heavy on action and interaction but not much else. Story? What story? The generic decepticons from Bay-Formers showed up from outer space and the Marvel dudes got together and killed them all; that's it! I really wish people would stop trying to compare Dark Knight and the Marvel movies; these are two entirely different styles of tone and storytelling, apples and oranges. If you look for the serious soul searching and deep personal conflicts of the Dark Knight in a movie like Avengers you will be sadly disappointed...
  7. Rainbow bridge, lol...
  8. Lol, that was funny stuff. I have to say that Tricia Helfer's smile and laugh could melt glaciers...
  9. Hmm...that might add a new way of experiencing William Shatner's "Kahn!" scene, lol...
  10. Wow nice ship-you've given life to the bucket. Any chance on you doing the "beast?"
  11. Sci-fi violence including some intense images, and brief language. Hell they could've given Avengers an R rating with those standards, lol...
  12. Ew! Lol... I was thinking along those lines as well. I'm sure Banner wanted to Hulk Smash her, but in a different way of course which only added to this rage...
  13. Rated R?! Oooooh Yeah...Although I hope it isn't because Noomi Rapace gets tied to a bed again, lol...
  14. ^^^Agreed...
  15. Well he realized it once he got to thinking about things; they were quite occupied on that flying boat. Also,
  16. Ha ha! I say bring it on! I think if something is scary enough it'll frighten you in any visual format. That's the way I feel about the Xenomorph, The Thing, etc....
  17. Agent Hill was very distracting. I normally hate, hate, HATE short haircuts on beautiful women but everything else about Cobie was so awesome that it didn't matter. For the first time I can recall in a very long time I'm looking towards the day I can bring a movie home and let it run continuously...
  18. Completely agree with your appraisal of Roush, Routh, Rome, whatever his hame is. I actually like the genius-megalomaniac portrayal of Lex Luthor so I have no issue with Spacey's performance. What fault did you find with Bosworth as Lane? I typically don't give females or the characters they play much regard so I never thought about Bosworth/Lane much. I did note that they tried to make her a self-reliant, career-minded woman to relate to women today, but I didn't think much of the character beyond that level...
  19. Mmmm...no, not at all. I'm a fan of the original Superman movies, and I look at the latest one as an attempt to emulate the original one but in a way that appeals to audiences today. I also believe that Brandon Routh, Roush, Roof, whatever his hame is, performed adequately enough as the man of steel, although I didn't find him as emotionally convincing as Reeves. I realize I'm one of the few that supports the last Super-movie but it is, what it is...
  20. I got blown away when they started doing this in fighting games and I'm loving the movie franchise cross-overs... Not sure about Friday, but I know that on Saturday there wasn't a lot of traffic in the movie theater that I was in. Why? Sinco de Mayo! I heard that most people were already too drunk or passed out to go to the movies, which suits me just fine anyway. Actually, friends who work at bars/restaurants were telling me that people were already getting wasted Friday night for the "Sinco" weekend...
  21. And at least he's back to his high flying roundhouse kicks; I saw one of those land on Stallone!
  22. Wow are there talks for a JLA type of movie? Ultimately I don't think it'd be too difficult to combine such polar opposite, dynamic characters, as they'd just dilute whoever they need to for whatever story they try to write. For example, although I completely adore the Avenger's movie and how they portrayed a "team effort," I couldn't help but feel that the Mighty Asgardian presence of Thor was just lacking. In his own movie, he clearly displayed humor, humility, conviction, etc, but I didn't really feel that in the Avenger movie, he just seemed like he was there to pick up Loki. I will say that if they try to do a JLA movie they'd obviously have to move away from Nolan's Dark Knight and, dare I say it, regress back to earlier incarnations of movie Batman, as the rendition of Nolan's Bruce Wayne/Batman is strictly a solo affair...
