^^^I think you're right on all counts. Just to be sure, I switched payment methods to my "forbidden" credit cards because I don't want any issue when it comes to them wanting payment. I recently checked the order status and it says "processing for shipping," so I guess all is well. I must confess that at the price HLJ was selling Yuki for, I was considering buying one or two additional figures to sell; not for the $600 that some are asking on gouge-bay, but enough to pay for a 2199 blu ray or something...

Dude, I can't thank you enough for giving us the heads up about HLJ getting a brief re-stock on the Yuki figure. Question though: how do I know if I got through in time? I've got an "open order" but I'm assuming they don't charge/bill you right away? I found that as sort of odd. Another wierd thing: I placed an order for 6300 Yen and as I kept looking back at the page the price kept going up until the figure was discountinued. How is it that HLJ was selling this figure for almost half as much as what other vendors are charging? Regardless, thanks again....

Good point about knowing the characters and then passing judgement on the figures. I think Yuki's adorable in the series and her figure represents her personality perfectly. BTW, how does HLJ get away with their lower prices?

It's the whole ditzy teenage girl love-fest thing. Anyway, a Melda is a great idea; they could paint her up like how she was dressed during her medical examination (lol)?

I mean look at it this way: she isn't naked, she isn't tied or shackled to a post, she's not dressed like a school girl with a sword, she's not holding a sex toy, bottled water or some other 'prop to accentuate her fanboy pose; did I mention she isn't naked? I figured who the hell's going to buy this figure? I thought I'd have all the time in the world to buy her, and for as low of a price as I wanted. Argh!

Man of Steel - Superman movie has a director
myk replied to Mr March's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
? Well, the author makes it seem as if this "new" Superman movie will somehow deviate from established Superman lore and create a new idea to hate, what with the decision to send Superman to Earth; that's the way the story has always been, it isn't anything new, and who knows? Maybe there wasn't anywhere else to send the kid, I dunno, but it's sort of an odd criticism to make, IMO. Secondly, the idea that Clark's step-father supports the idea of "killing children" is ridiculous; the idea of "not" saving the kids and thereby concealing the presence of Superman is a decision that is intended to spare a dangerous, savage child-race, the human race, the sudden discovery of something far beyond their maturity level as a race. What did human beings do when they learned how to manipulate nuclear fusion and fission? Additionally, the point the author makes about humans being condescending and distrustful is misguided; the writers are just trying to put a different perspective on the idea of a God-like being walking among us. What are the ramifications? Does he just go to Starbucks and sip a latte with us, or does he fly about the Earth, doing as he pleases because he has the ability to do what he wants? Finally, the author's claim that Superman has a "God" complex is a little presumptuous, considering no one has seen the film yet. Who is to say what his motivations are for staying on Earth? I'm foggy on the older Superman movies, but if I had to describe those Supermen's desire to stay on lowly, pitiful Earth, I would say it's because he grew up with human beings, on their planet, and he feels a need to continue living with them, perhaps even looking over them, and let's not forget that he fell in love with a woman who resides on the planet as well. This goes to show you that no matter the might of the man, there's often a woman behind the drive of his intention.- 442 replies

You're not alone in that; whether it was GI Joe or any other franchise with cool vehicles, I never cared much for the characters or the story, SDF Macross included...- 1020 replies

Yes, the rebuild series has become quite.....visual, but IMO it's more of an assault on the eyes and the senses, especially with the last volume. Maybe I just need to give it another view, I don't know...

I felt the same way. I would've had him as, like you suggested, an XO on another ship, and perhaps his life as a worthless drunk resulted from a "falling from grace" from his previous life aboard this starship. This, of course, would make his education at Starfleet seem redundant though. On that note, I always felt that Picard's election to be captain of the Federation flagship was somewhat unbelievable also. Based on his accomplishments before his assignment to the big 'D, he didn't really do anything out of the ordinary that made him any more remarkable than another Federation captain, unless I'm missing something on his prior resume...- 1020 replies

^^^Not really so surprising when you consider that a common, deep admiration for machines, especially flying ones, will point people into the same direction at some point. For example, how many of us here don't love or greatly respect the SR-71 Blackbird or the XB-70? The number will probably be small...
