Yes it IS a brick, which is why it's ridiculous that I paid twice as much for it. Then again, who would've ever thought that they'd have this thing at almost 50% off?

X-Men: Days of Future Past, in theaters May 23, 2014
myk replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm a minority as well, but I don't want a story being conceived in such a way that it's "designed" to have a static quo of women, gays, colored people, handicapped persons, Mermaids, ponies, guinea pigs, etc. "I" am probably in the minority, but I don't need my "minority-ness" thrown in the public's face in a quest for equality and some delusional, misguided, vain demand to be seen and heard. If a story is conceived and designed in a certain way then it should be presented that way; true to the vision of the creator, not catering to the hyper-sensitive, attention-needy masses. If a story is unpalatable then the individual and then the public can ignore it on their own free will and choice; IMO it's equally disturbing to force the "minority/equality" agenda onto others. In this day and age people need to stop projecting their own feelings of inadequacy onto society and crying discrimination and inequality when they see something that doesn't line up with their own views or expectations. Sometimes, "it is what it is, things are what they are..."- 329 replies

Well, considering that Ken Watanabe's character was supposed to be the foremost "expert" on this entire kaiju/nuclear weapons/Area 51 conspiracy stuff, being a witness to these things for decades, yet in the entire movie his eyebrows are furrowed and he's constantly in surprise, shock and awe as to the unfolding events of the story, no, obliviousness in this movie does not surprise me...- 586 replies

Kinda have to include the silly human blathering; without it a viewer would be better off playing King of the Monsters on the Neo Geo for a couple hours; the monster action would be arguably better and it wouldn't cost you $16...- 586 replies

Good points but I figured this girl was not the one to miss out on: I just picked up the regular "white" version and the brown one as well. I hope I can talk myself out of getting the black haired version...

I don't know. To me, it's as if the movie would've been more appropriately titled: MUTOS, a Navy Story, or MUTOS, a Navy Story and with time permitting, a special guest appearance by Godzilla...- 586 replies

I let this girl and her different colored "sister" variants get away from me last year. Am I crazy for wanting to hunt down all three in the expensive after-market? DEFINITELY NOT SAFE FOR WORK: http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIG-MOE-6541&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3Delsa%24pagemax%3D20%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1 They're simple, almost boring figures but I'm hooked on their emphasis of female perfection presented in 1/5 scale. Do any of you guys have her or her variants?

It was a 6.8 overall, with the 6.8 score coming from the hard drive access speed that somehow shot up to 7.6 with the new drive. Now, my lowest values come from the RAM, CPU and the video card. Looks like I've 'maxed this laptop out for all its worth... Ok, then I'll just stick with this Hitachi drive. I still think my boot time is very slow though, coming in at 40 seconds or so, and that's with everything turned off in the start up menu off of msconfig.exe.... -
Looks like a confirmation of a 2nd series in my eyes. At least, they'll release this movie and test the waters and decide on going through with a 2nd series or not...

Yeah I figured as much. In any case, I went from a 6.8 to a 7.1 just with the SSD replacement, for what it's worth. Not bad for a 2011 laptop, I guess. Should I have gone with an SSHD drive as a secondary instead of a regular mechanical drive, or would it have mattered any? -

Alright I figured out the drive re-naming thing for my new secondary drive; pretty convenient of Windows 7. Meanwhile, it seems that my laptop already HAD a 7200 rpm secondary drive with a 32mb cache, so any hope of gaining a substantial performance increase is replaced with knowing that I have enough storage space instead. Do you guys put a lot of stock in the Windows Experience Index? -
Wasn't joking; I was born a Star Blazers kid, as opposed to being a Space Cruiser Yamato kid. So is this a confirmation of a 2nd series?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Coming May 2, 2014
myk replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Which is precisely why I don't like this version of Spider Man. Say what you will about Tobey Maguire's Spider Man movies, but IMO they had the right amount of campiness, melodrama and unwitting super-hero moments to make it entertaining and emotionally rewarding. . THIS new iteration of Spider Man tries to get heavy with the characters, the story and it comes off as drab and uninspiring to me. I just saw the first Amazing Spider Man movie and with this impression on my mind I won't be making any genuine efforts to watch the new one...- 153 replies

How much faster would the 7200rpm drive be? If there's no significant performance edge I'll just go with a 5400 rpm. By the way I thought about that Hgct or whatever drive but their reliability seems spotty.... -

Ok so I've been considering possible choices for my secondary drive. I figure a 7200 rpm, 1TB unit with at least 16mb of cache would be great 'specs, but the wierd thing is there aren't very many drives to choose from with those numbers; at least not around the $100 price range. Am I looking at secondary drives the wrong way? Are things like drive speed and cache not as important as they are with the primary drive? There are many more drives to choose from if I go with less than 1 TB and a 5400 rpm drive speed... -
