  1. That power brick runs hot hot hot! I wonder if this thing will have the tendency to start fires like previous power cords/supplies? The graphical artifacts indicate overheated RAM or video hardware, right? Anyway, at the moment I'm trying to figure out why my system is telling me that my HD cable's high definition output is turned off and set to normal tv? How can something be hooked up with component cabling and not be set to HD?
  2. Seriously. Hanging adapters up by string? Finding boxes with no lids to put the system, adapter or whatever on? It's almost as crazy as having to return a game to a company because there was a nation-wide recall for one....Nuts... Mike, I spoke a little too soon when I said that the graphics weren't "next gen." At the time, I had not picked up the component cables to hook up to my 'HD TV, and I was just using composite (I'm one of the retarded Core buyers). I figured that there couldn't be THAT much of a difference with component cabling. Although I'm using an old-school 52" projection set, after getting the component cable and messing with settings there is an obvious improvement; Need for Speed and PGR3 look very good. If I really want to take advantage of the visual capabilities I should probably get another type of game, one where I can actually enjoy the environments instead of having to concentrate on my driving... The situation at Gamestop is exactly the same as the job that I just lost, and I'm sorry to hear that type of pressure is on you. At least you guys get "employee weekend," that sounds like a blast. I guess that I'll be interviewing with Sabretooth at Target sometime soon...
  3. Well, if the system is succeptible to malfuntioning due to heat, surely Microsoft would have known about this in their R&D. The least they could have done was warned the public that this thing requires a considerable amount of ventilation or else. I wonder if Microsoft will deny any return/warrantly claims due to inadequate cooling on the part of the consumer... -Just read a section of my owner's manual that states the following: "Two left lights on console (ring of light) flash red-the console is too hot and will not play games until the unit cools down...." I guess that heat IS an issue that has been known about, well before the launch. Well, at the very least we don't have to turn it upside down like some of those first generation PS1's!
  4. Mail a game in, that's lunacy! What games were those? I guess I've been lucky so far...
  5. Wow, the 360 really IS like a 'PC-you have to download patches and fixes at about the same time you buy a game!
  6. I could've sworn I saw a head of purple hair in that trailer. I could go back and check, but that would mean I would have to gouge out my remaining eye with my fork and that wouldn't be good. In any case, as I said earlier it's as if producers that make movies like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, AvP, and Dead on Arrival are either ignorant or plainly don't care about what fans expect to see in their franchise's leap to the big screen. Taking the time to talk to 1 or 2 fanboys to get their input and then working that into the story would not be that difficult, and then we wouldn't have to have discussions such as this one...
  7. Are you talking about the power button on the front of the 360 (has the light "ring" around it) or something else? 347861[/snapback] Yeah. I'm old fashioned in that I expect a switch to have an audible click, or some other audible clue that you've done something; think NES, Super NES, GC, PS2, etc. Those are genuine switches, you hear them click and you also see them go up and down, and whatnot. The idea behind the 360 is that you touch the "circle of light" (thats starting to sound very.....corny), but with a minimum of pressure and the unit powers up or down. Well, I'd press the "circle of light" and nothing would happen. I'd press it a little harder and the unit would either power up or down but it was just wierd; it was like placing pressure on some random part of the machine rather than the power switch. I don't know, I'm just being picky, I'm still loving it...
  8. Really? Lol, well I've had the thing since launch but I just now figured out how to turn the damn thing off-that switch is wierd! In any case, it would seem then that the 2 fans aren't enough-maybe they should have been made bigger, or included yet another fan. I don't know. To quote a legendary soldier from the future: "I didn't build the damn thing!"
  9. Well, if heat is truly the issue at hand here I can't believe that R & D wasn't able to pick up on this. If everyone and their mother keeps touting this thing as a PC dressed up like a console then they should at least give it the cooling capacity of any modern, garden variety PC that would include at least 2 fans. The fan designed into the unit now wouldn't be enough to cool a stick of RAM let alone an entire system of hardware. Also, if the power supply unit is the one suffering from heat well, they should've put a fan in that thing too, or at least designed the thing larger (it's already the size of a forearm) to release more heat... -I couldn't figure out why Need for Speed was proving to be so difficult until I realized that the AI was using nitrous, and I've been running "all motor." lol
  10. You mean...you didn't know? That guy was Tsinc! High-priced-Valkyrie-peddler-extraordinaire! What surprises me is that you guys didn't have security around to take care of guys like that; or they weren't doing their jobs. The Target that I spent the night with had about 2 police officers in the store, not to mention their usual security squad stationed everywhere including the bra and panty section. At the very least, your Team Leaders and Managers should have been doing something about this character; where were they? -Also, how would you say the job is for the Team Leads? I'm thinking about applying for that, as Mike Z. has indirectly talked me out of a Manager job with Gamestop anytime in this century. -In addition, what games did you get? Did your store actually have any copies of DOA at the launch?
  11. Yeah...lol...Didn't he get in trouble at one point for having those things? I remember it as being a point of contraversy...
  12. If it was an '04 motor then it should've been blown...
  13. I suppose. But why would they care anyway? It's fiction, and they act as if their sheep, er, fellow parishoners might run off and join some Harry/Frodo based cult or something. It's harmless fiction that doesn't even make any attack, both obvious or subtle against any faith...
  14. The religious fanatics need to pipe down; Harry Potter and Frodo Baggins are no more of a threat to any system of faith than my G.I. Joe space shuttle. They're just stories, and any relationship established between religion and those fantasies isn't intended. -The church needs to worry more about finding a proper way to get their clergy off, so that they don't have to molest their little altar boys.
  15. When it comes to religious types who can even begin to understand their actions. This church banned Harry Potter because of what, now? Did they ban the Lord of the Rings as well? To a layman, those two franchises are one and the same...
  16. Well, I always believed that the Hackman Luthor was more of a tongue in cheek type of villain; serious enough to tamper with ballistic missiles, but still silly enough to have bumbling sidekicks... "Miss TESCHMACHER!!!!"
  17. I'm actually trying to find work there myself. With exception during the holidays, the employees seem to be moderately enjoying themselves. Tell me 'Sabre, would you recommend your company?
  18. Alright, if you can assure me that the story goes beyond 2 cute girls with little guns killing cookie cutter bad guys that are armed with phased plasma rifles in a 40 watt range without so much as breaking a sweat, then I will finish Noir; staring at the collector's edition box with just 3 dvd's has always been an eyesore for me anyway. As for DOA, Dead on Arrival, even fanboys have higher expectations for their fluff material and this......"work" fails in delivery.
  19. This may have something to do with it: Too many times... I must say after going over all of that, I definitely haven't laughed that hard in a loooong time!
  20. I enjoyed the scene in TKK 2, that had Mr. Miyagi going into Mr. Silva's dojo and cleaning house with Mr. Silva and the dude from the (lol) Cobra-Kai dojo...
  21. Well what about that other game that SNK has been working on, Neo Geo Battle Coliseum? Is that even out yet? I'm glad that Mai's in that one. I only wish that Mai's rendering looked like Capcom's version of her-that was too hot for t.v. Also, I'm glad to see characters like Cyber Woo from King of the Monsters in that game, as that will no doubt prove interesting...
  22. Not at all. If it's an issue of graphical quality I don't see much of a difference between 2 versions of 1 game I've personally sampled, Need for Speed Most Wanted. Obviously the 360 looks better but I wouldn't call it next-gen. Sound is what it is, as both boxes have digital out so there won't be much difference there. Performance wise I'd have to say it's a little shameful for the 360, in that playing NFS and Project Gotham 3 occasionally had graphical hiccups that I don't attribute to hardware problems, rather rushed new games on a new console. To confirm that, official game reviewers have witnessed the same glitches...
  23. All of the Best Buys did that, which is why I didn't camp out in front of one. I didn't want to buy the system and then $400 worth of stuff I didn't want or need. I believe Circuit City and other electronic stores did the same thing, selling their systems in bundles only, although I don't think they made the mistake of advertising the system at its Core and Premium price levels. Best Buy really does blow...
  24. Well, I wasn't entirely honest about ignoring Noir, as I have the first 3 volumes somewhere. When it first came out, naturally I was drawn to the idea of a hot chick in a mini skirt traveling around the world killing people, unfortunately that's all I ever saw in those first 3 volumes. They get a note or a message, they go somewhere, Les Soldats sets a trap for them with hundreds of guys bearing nasty weapons (not unlike the DOA trailer), Mireille and Kirika pull out their little pistols and kill everything in sight without so much as missing a shot. Bo-ring... Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Noir to a degree as I even have Yamato's statue of Mireille, but the whole girls, guns, swords, hereos thing is just silly to me.
  25. Another point to bring up is that the entire "girls and guns" or "girls as heroes" concept is getting really old and ridiculous. I feel this way about live action and animated works, which is why I never bothered to watch Tomb-Raider, Charlie's Angels, Noir, Burst Angel, etc. -To quote a legendary pilot from a dubbed anime: "Fighting? Don't be ridiculous-a woman is for LOVE, not for fighting!"
