  1. Not that it matters now, but stuff like what?
  2. I actually like the idea of humanity being turned into one singular consciousness. I really don't want to derail this thread, but allow me to say that humanity existing as individuals has proved to be summarily harmful to the entire race. If we were all one, like the LCL pool, the Borg, or whatever, there would be nothing but the tranquil collective... I'll also say that the 'Eva movie was harsh because the creators wanted to shock die hard fans that were not content with the "t.v." ending of the series, which is considered to be the "true" ending of Evangelion. If you look at both the t.v. and movie endings, they carry the same message... Finally, who wouldn't treat Shinji like crap-he was a sniveling brat who didn't have enough strength to believe in himself and make his own choices. Of course, at his age (15?), he couldn't possibly be that strong, but this just proves another life lesson: girls hate wussiness and Shinji was full of it...
  3. Individuality died; the entire human race was turned into one collective consciousness. In the end though, we can see that humans clearly have the choice to return back to their single self if they wish it. The original T.V. ending of 'Eva conveyed this idea alot easer-in the end Shinji learns to accept who he is, the world around him, and that his happiness or misery was for he alone to make. In the movie Shinji chooses to be human, although he would have to accept what he hated about himself and other people as individuals. I still think he should've finished Asuka off, though...
  4. I just finished watching season 1 and I must say that I enjoyed it. If you remember the series and liked it I would say that it's worth picking up, although brace yourself for alot of late 80's sci-fi and acting cheese. It's unfortunate that I'll have to wait for season 2, if it's ever released, to watch the crap hit the fan. Meanwhile, not to give anything away, but I was trying to determine when some of the characters died and I came upon this cute little site:a few sci-fi deaths -It's obviously not complete, and I'm not even too sure if it's accurate, but it was funny reading nonetheless...
  5. I'll take Laguna Beach....
  6. In Iowa during winter no less! That is something else, to be sure. I guess Californians aren't as hardcore when it comes to bargain hunting...
  7. I'm looking Dave, I'm seriously looking! As for more 360 game news: Dead or Alive? No, just late...
  8. Hmm...Looks like the information I read was wrong then. I was browsing the Team Xbox's home page when I read that stuff-I'll try to post a link later when I find it...
  9. Exactly. Anime fans themselves are divided over Evangelion in its animated form. Many anime fans don't understand it or care for it's particular message or story. Can you imagine if they unleashed this thing on a world wide scale? The story that many of it's own followers don't even understand would be reduced to another Earth vs Invading Alien disaster. What elements of 'Eva could possible appeal to a world audience? Teenage girls in tight body suits? Fine. Giant robots fighting giant aliens? Mmm, maybe. A Misato and a Kaji doing it under a subway overpass, probably. A teenage boy at the center of mankind's transformation into a singular goo? Definitely not; this is not the type of series that would be rivaling Laguna Beach anytime soon...
  10. Friday morning I drove by a Wal-Mart just to see when they opened, and I saw something that easily made the morning of the 360 debut seem like nothing: a line, as far as the eye could see, of people in sleeping bags and lawn chairs waiting no less than 6 hours before opening....Craziness!
  11. Nope. In order to travel the speed of light you would need a nearly infinite amount of energy. In addition to that, you would end up gaining almost infinite mass, which obviously prevents anything from attaining that type of speed. I'm hardly a physicist either, so maybe someone here who is schooled in that subject can explain it better, but physical science as we know it negates "FTL." Sorry, Trekkies...
  12. Keith would be able to explain it-there was some sort of conceived "new-evangelion" series, that supposively continued where the original series left off, although anyone who understands 'Eva knows that you CAN'T pick up where the original ended. I believe that this new 'Eva was fan-based, or something-definitely NOT canon.
  13. The links to that travesty are starting to disappear. Try this one: Dead on Arrival...
  14. Neither of the endings in 'Eva will do for live action. At least, neither of those endings would be "stylized" enough for the people overseeing this project. Wasn't there some "New Evangelion" story, complete with new mecha and or characters and a new "threat" to mankind that was created a few years ago, by fans or something? I guarantee that 'Eva will be a mish mash of that horrific creation and hollywood influence. If you guys think that the DOA trailer was bad, a live action 'Eva can only be worse.
  15. Would they give her blue hair, or would this live-action incarnation be more of a "realistic" type of work? At the very least, I hope that they won't repeat what I called the "clone army" in the animated Evangelion series: every character, from Misato, Shinji, Asuka, Rei and Gendo, all had the same face. I'm just worried that any attempts at a live action version of 'Eva would just turn into some expensive, cos-playing mess...
  16. That's what is being said. Apparently, any trouble with backwards-compatibility, like what the '360 is experiencing is due to a lack of proprietal rights to the technology that allowed the orignal Xbox games to exist. Both Nintendo and Sony own all of the rights to the technology that was used for all of their hardware and software, therefor there is no reason for them to not be 100% backwards-compatible if they wanted to include that feature...That Revoloution will be an interesting machine, to be sure...
  17. Oooohh Woooowww....The colors....I take back anything I said earlier about these graphics not being next generation-and this is just the beginning! 360 tech support insisted that my lack of high definition output was because of my incorrect settings on the console itself. The local 'EB I spoke with said the console was probably defective. I wouldn't have had to ask all of these people for help, but the night I bought these cables one of my guinea pigs got loose and ate the instructions that probably included the information about that little switch. David, I can't thank you enough! If I were my avatar I'd kiss you!
  18. Just call it a clone and you'll still reap in a good profit for it. Cars that aren't authentic are commanding a respectable dollar amount these days. Heck, as far as I'm concerned just about any classic muscle car has the potential to incite senseless behavior. At the last cruise night that I attended, this bloke wanted to trade his '05 Mustang GT convertible for my '69 Charger.
  19. Oh no. I'll bet my new 360 that Devon Aoki will end up playing Asuka... Evangelion is an animated work and it should stay that way, especially when you consider what usually happens to an anime franchise when it becomes revisited. Street Fighter, Angel of Darkness anyone? I'm sure that you guys can think of more examples. No thanks. Live action ruins everything...
  20. One of the problems that the Blackwood scientist team had to deal with was a world of people that didn't believe there were aliens from another planet seeking to conquer the Earth. Wasn't there a world-scale invasion just 30 years or so prior to what was going on? An invasion that almost saw the human population destroyed? I guess people really are that forgetful of things...
  21. They're OUT there...
  22. There were riots at Wal-Marts across the nation over the low priced items that they were featuring. One in particular was some sort of laptop for $300 or something. Craziness, I tell you...
  23. I just picked this up off of team xbox's FAQ page: "5. What does the “compatible with top-selling Xbox games†means? It means that the most popular Xbox titles, based on sales figures, will be playable on the Xbox 360. However, Microsoft has not released official information as to which titles will be backward compatible." I thought that backwards compatibility was based on a hardware issue concerning the new types CPU and GPU? Maybe this means that depending on how well a game was profitable for the original Xbox, Microsoft will decide whether to spend the time and resources necessary to make a game compatible with the 360? Does this mean that they get to decide what old Xbox games we will get to play on the 360? -Just for laughs I tried calling 360 tech support for my HD cable question; it's always laughable when you know as much as the other person on the telephone, which in this case wasn't very much...
