Survey: Ten Worst Comic Book/Superhero Movies
myk replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I like the Thomas Jane edition-I think you will too. John Travolta is terrible, as usual, but everything else is acceptable. At least, you get a chance to see Rebecca Romjin Stamos be cute... -
Yeah, I bet she even got a tattoo on her lower back to match the new outlook on life. Just like everyone else here feels, this season is lackluster at best with totally uninteresting sub plots. The scumbag boyfriend manipulating a federal employee has to be one of the worst ideas I've ever seen. All we need now is for Jack to have a baby with someone and then this show will have officially jumped the shark...

Alright then, because the two pairs of slots are colored yellow and black, so I'll put the sticks into the yellow ones only... -
I was going to ask how my favorite ship, the Galaxy class, fares in this game but I guess that answers that question...

Well, buffalo will never replace good 'ol ground beef, but it's the healthier alternative and...with enough A-1 steaksauce it's close enough. Question: I've got 4 slots for RAM, and I'm not sure where I'm supposed to put the two sticks I have. They're labeled DIMM A1 and A2 for the first pair of slots, and DIMM B1 and B2 for the second pair of slots. Now, normally you'd think that two sticks would go into the A labeled slots, but A1 and B1 are colored one way, and A2 and B2 are colored another way. The Asus manual doesn't say which way it's supposed to go, so which is it? -

MEEEEEEEE TOOOO!!! Although I'm surprised I pulled it off. I installed everything while talking to the gf on the phone, watching BSG and eating a buffalo burger. So...now that we've got these new setups, how do we rightfully test them? Asides from Crysis, lol... -

Nice list of parts, although I bet you're itching to get that video card. With my new MB, CPU and RAM finally here I'll probably refit my system tomorrow. AvP and Crysis are on the gaming to-do list... -

What the hell is it with Crysis anyway? This game came out like 4 years ago, but it still seems to be the "King Raoh" of pc games-untouchable no matter how trick your setup is. I need to give this game a try... Wow thanks. Every little bit helps... -
Some choice figures from G-Taste wouldn't be bad either...

UUUugghh...I hate spending money. Anyway, I bought the minimum parts I needed for my upgrade. E6500 cpu, Asus P5ND motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...32&Tpk=p5nd, and 2, 1G sticks of Kingston DDR2-800 RAM. What do you guys think? I'm going to save up for a new video card, but I'm not sure what. My studies over the last few weeks have shown me that SLI/crossfire is more of a gimmick than anything, so I'm going to go for a single Nvidia-based card instead of 2. I was SO wanting to run twin GPU's though. It's like looking at a pair of carburetors, gun turrets, boobs....y 'know... -
Ew, now I remember those missions. Was that "destroy all Zent" stage the one where you're supposed to be fighting alongside a Monster also? Well, I guess I know what I'm going to be doing the next few hours... Hey, congrats on the latest addition to your family, btw...

Alien vs Predator 1 on PC. The Alien/xenomorph is my favorite sci-fi/horror character so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to kill things with it. This game is the ONLY reason why I even bought my first computer in 1999. The upcoming AvP is the ONLY reason why I'm even bothering to upgrade my current rig. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2: this is the way an arcade racer should be. Great looking (for the time) car models, easy controls to master, licensed soundtrack music and a generally adequate sense of speed. -I REALLY wanted to like Test Drive 5, because of the great number of cars involved in it (including 3 of the cars I own), but the graphics and playability were so bad I had to toss it. Starfox 64 & Assault: Being able to pilot Space fighters, listening to endless dialogue with talking animals, epic space battles-its like Star Wars but not gay. How can you resist? Robotech Battlecry: Everyone of us dreams of being a pilot; not just of a plane, but of one the greatest 'mechs of all time, the Macross Valkyrie in all 3 of its modes. I finally got to fly, gerwalk and run fast, hard and all over the place with missiles corkscrewing out of my fighter to destroy stuff, ALONG with the graphics, speed and sound that completed the experience. You have to be a fan of "drawn" style of animation but it worked for me. -I REALLY wanted to like Macross VF-X 1 & 2, but the playability, graphics and sound were so bad in those games my eyes, ears and nose bled everytime I played them. Awful, just awful, that a Row-boat-tech item would beat a genuine Macross item. Now, I never got to play the Japanese Macross game on the PS2, but I'm just comparing Battlecry with what competition was available at the time, so... Final Fight 1: being a barbaric, red meat eating, low-browed male I can perfectly enjoy a simplistic side-scrolling punching game that has you beating people down with pipes, swords, knives and fists along with a buddy; all in the name of keeping some chick from getting pummeled in another way. I also liked how Guy was one of the first (at least to my knowledge) characters in anything out of Japan that somewhat resembled an Asian male-not like Ryu from SF2 or 99% of Asian characters that are supposed to be Asian but look about as Asian as a Corvette.

What motherboard are you trying to get rid of? Oh I see, the one you posted on the other page. Why don't you want it? -
So, I was cleaning up my FX-X wing the other day and started to wonder why the opposite wing cannons have the blue stripes on them? I know there's a reason for it in Star War lore, be it canon or not, but I was wondering if any of you guys knew?

As long as her nipples look good "wet" in a rain scene I'll be fine with that casting... -

That's what I'm counting on. If the deal is good enough maybe I won't mind having to buy 2 ATI cards. Wait a minute. There are AMD boards that can SLI instead of Crossfire, right? -
The 2011 Mustang GT is good enough for me. With the return of the 5 "oh" the Mustang is finally the car it should've been 16 years ago...

I was leaning heavily towards the AMD setup, but I wanted to run multiple GPU's and I don't want to buy 2 new video cards to do so. I'll hang on to my 8800 and team that up with a twin on an Intel board, I guess. Or mayble I'll just get AvP on a console and say screw it, lol... -

Just wanted to say thanks again. Watching the entire series a second time around is an experience that defies words. Actually, no it doesn't. I'm having a blast... -
I liked the G8 they had in the beginning. I also like how Jack gets dragged into a hopeless situation, of which he has no choice but to see it through. Wow. I didn't see that one coming...

I've got 2G's of DDR2 RAM @533 mhz, a 600 watt power supply, my Lite-on optical drive is fairly new, I have a 74G Raptor HD and I think my 8800GT is still worthy, so I plan on moving that stuff over, unless you guys have any objections. I liked the combo's that I posted because I figured it was good for what it cost. I know I could spend alot more but I've always gotten away with a medium setup teamed with a good GPU so I thought I'd give this a try. At this moment, I think it's my mb and CPU that're holding back my GPU. I'll check out that questionnaire... Oh one more thing-I know that stock fans/heatsinks usually suck, so any recommendations on what I should get? Aren't there usually fitment issues with non-stock fans/heatsinks? -

Yeah I built a couple of AMD systems with combo's purchased from Fry's in the past and I was always satisfied with them. I'm not sure how I made it back to Intel but that's just the way it goes I guess. I'll look into the AMD's; are there any peculiarities or special considerations that come with the AMD setups? Also, do you guys think my 8800 GT should get replaced? Here's an AMD combo I was looking at: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...&CatId=4297 Now, I'm just looking at the processor speeds, and from what I can see this AMD setup is faster than the Intel combo I posted earlier; are there certain guidelines to look for when comparing the two types of processors asides from posted CPU speeds? -

Yeah that's the problem with buying cheap-o parts, as my monitor didn't have a manual and the set-up cd only wants vista or 7; I found the native resolution and it's 1600x900, as Hiriyu pointed out. Because of the upcoming Alien vs Predator I was thinking of upgrading, but I wasn't sure what to get-the last system I built was back in '05, and I don't even think they had dual-core processors back then. I'm not even sure what parts to look at now, but maybe I'll just get a better mb, dual core processor and call it a day. Now, I'm not trying to build a high-end system, so what do you guys think about this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...&CatId=1599 -

myk replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hmm....I assumed that native resolution was the maximum setting/resolution that you could set the monitor to. So, set it to 1600x900 then? I did notice that that when I played AvP2, the game no longer fills the screen as it did on 1920x1080. Is that right? As for the video card, you're right in that the 8800GT is capable but my system probably isn't. I'm still running a 3.0 P4 that I built back in '05 with just 2 G's of RAM. I should at least be dual-core by now. BTW thanks for all of the input guys, I appreciate it...
