ZOMG! That was hilarious! I love the "helicopter" and the three or four different Keith David/Childs, lol. Parody or not though, the kennel scene still remains horrifying...

The computer and electronics super geek thread

So I ran out of room on my puny 80G Raptor and had to move Steam and all of its content over to my external. I never bought the external for the sake of speed and performance, just storage space. Will running programs off of the external HD considerably affect performance? I'm sure the type of USB connection and all that other stuff that connect the HD will affect speed also, right? -
What are you hoping to get for Christmas (or a holiday gift)?

Man what the f**k is wrong with this planet?! Well, at least I've finally seen evidence that the NERF EBF-25 actually CAN fire in full-auto... -
On the bright side I'd say Cars was Owen Wilson's greatest performance...

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
myk replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Really? How come? I actually like the 3D effects, although I may have been fortunate enough to have seen what everyone's saying to be the "good" 3D movies, like 'Alice, Tron, Corraline, etc. As for the Pirate's franchise, I just don't get why people like them so much. It all seems so......silly to me. I watched it because the g/f and every other female on this planet adores Pirate's. It must be Depp and the makeup, I dunno...- 87 replies

That is SO cool! There're alot of Nerf guns out there that I want to look into but...I gotta contain myself. Anyway since I probably won't get world peace under my tree I'll ask for Tess Taylor Arlington instead, although for me that's equally unobtainable, lol... -
I used to run a Valvoline shop and I'll tell you that it's all about selling products and services to the best of our abilities. On a daily basis there was literally a gun to my head to get me to bilk as much money from people as possible. Now, for people in the business or car enthusiasts, fuel, emission, and "top end" cleanings are something to be looked into and done-I certainly perform those things on my own cars. But for the typical car owner, none of those services are absolutely necessary, unless called for in your owner's manual. As long as you stay on schedule with your maintenance, buy quality fuel and oils, you should be fine without all of the special cleanings and services, unless, once again, it's specified to do so in your owner's manual. On another note, unless you're a car enthusiast/fan boi like me I think changing your own oil is a waste of time. The hassle of having to buy quality oils and a filter, roll around on the ground, clean everything up and then drive around and hope that some place will take your used oil and filter will equal or cost more than the typical $20-$30 that you'd spend at a shop. Take into consideration that these shops will have you in and out in 20 minutes or less and the shop is clearly the better alternative for typical car owners...

Lol, I wonder if women from the "black and white" era of film and t.v. were ever that hot...

Lol, wow. I can't tell but does that have a rotating barrel in it? My favorite Nerf gun is the N Strike one with the red sight under the barrel, that you have to load and cock everytime you fire it; reminds me of the M92 Tranquilizer gun that was featured in Metal Gear Solid 2... -
Even then, a life as a dog or a cat would be better than what I've got now, lol. Besides, I'm sure I'd wind up in a Disney movie or something...

You know I've actually seen that alternate ending-they used to show it whenever the movie was aired on t.v. Every copy of the movie that I've rented or purchased, whether it was on VHS, DVD, blu-ray or whatever, does NOT have the scene with the dog running in the end, with a narrarator talking about possibilities. You know they're trying to say that the THING survived with that scene. Speaking of alternate, non-canon storylines, did you ever play the THING video game? In it, Chiles is found dead, and in the end a helicopter flies in to rescue you-when you get on board the pilot introduces himself as "MACREADY..." I s**t in my pants when Mac's voice, sampled right out of the movie, introduces himself to you, because you know his having survived can't be right, lol...

Right right right, thanks for the clarification. He could've "checked in" at the front desk and still sabotaged the debut of the new 'OS, but it wouldn't have been as exciting to be sure. Second that on the Cillian Murphy thing. His 90.3 seconds of camera time was obviously a missed opportunity and a waste of his talents altogether. In regards to the girls, Quora was adorable, but if I had to choose I'd want Gem on my light Cycle for sure...

I actually liked the way the movie ended-leaving more questions than answers, which was sort of how the entire movie worked anyway. Was either Chiles or 'Mac infected? Did they survive? Did any other organisms survive? You gotta love it...

Therein lies my greater issue with the movie. I mean, Sam gets zapped from his world and everything he knows, into another one and then dropped into an arena of neon-frisbee-death and he acts as if he was just asked to solve a moderately difficult algebra question. But, the atmosphere of the story was about as exciting as a motherboard, so I guess he fit right in.

Do you have DYRL? on the Saturn or the PS? I bought a Saturn and a 4 in 1 Mega-replay-something-or-the-other just so I could play DYRL?. It wasn't a great shooter by any means, but it was a great experience nonetheless...

I don't know why, but I had the idea that the Thing was imprisoned or otherwise contained in that UFO; it just happened to be Earth's rotten luck that the Thing crashed on the planet. I would assume that the Thing is, more or less, a "simple" organism that had the ability to mimic other forms, but was somehow coaxed into adopting more sophisticated forms, maybe due to biological weapons programs by an alien race somewhere. I know this is all conjecture, but it's fun nevertheless...

Flamethrower, MOVE!!!! Meh, I don't mind the idea of being put into stasis and my mind put into a dream state so that my body energy can be fed to the ruling machine empire...

Lol, my PS1, DC and N64 are actually out in full view in my living room. Every once in a while I get the urge to play Macross VFX 1, Air Force Delta and Automobili Lamborghini on those systems, in that order...

I'm sure they did that for the cast of Black Hawk Down, as well as other military flicks...

Yeah I hear ya. Unless you're a collector you don't want to have to sit on an old bulky system that may not even be hooked up...

Right. I mean, why would a "program" need games/entertainment, a lounge club with a David Bowie type lunatic running it, and like David H. asked, where did the pork come from? Dull story, staid acting, too many unanswered questions, I'm now reaching for my copy of the Matrix...
