Two thumbs up for your great work!

The kit is actually getting scarce over here in Hong Kong. So that Ebay seller is offering it at an inflated price. Furthermore, shipping a Hasegawa kit to the US cost almost like the kit itself, that is if you want the kit nicely packed and shipped within a box. Try getting another item from that same seller as air parcel for 1kg come to roughly US$20 and will do for two kits!

I think this is a boot; the writings are in Chinese, so I guess this is a Chinese boot instead of a Korean boot!
-
Wow, once again an impressive work of art by our figure meister! Count me in for one or two
-
Sorry, no pilots to be found! I had some old Arii 1/170 and 1/100 kits but nothing.
-
I will look through my pile of unfinished kits from ancient projects to see if I can find anything suitable.
-
I saw that kit and from what I remember the owner is asking HK$4800 for it, which is more like US$600'ish! The thing is huge and shipping to the US will add at least another US$100 or so. This is a huge kit and quite worth having as it is the largest toy VF-1 produced and very very rare but the price is only for people with very very deep pockets!
-
Saw it and played it in person yesterday...well, nothing much to write home about! I guess Aoshima has tried very hard but nevertheless it still has the Toynami quality build and feel, which compared with yamato is still miles away!
-
Some places over here in Hong Kong still carry them, the only problem is that shipping cost a bomb! I believe Yamato will soon release the combo pack again but I doubt they will release the satnd alone Fast Pack/Fold Booster.
-
I got the "red box" version and it does come with the pilot, which is in metal! Is yours an original or recast? The "red box" was just a first release, later on strike kits also came in "blue box" with a sticker placed over super wordings. I am not sure but I believe the Hasegawa pilot should fit with monor alterations.

I could always follow Graham to his next meeting and secretly listen in on their conversation

I do not think you will find any pre-built dioramas in this scale. Even if you, it will either be very expensive or toys intended for kids. The only kit I know of in 1/48 scale was a section of an aircraft carrier launch. I saw the actual thing and the base measured about 40 x 40cms and comes with all the trimmings, launch hook etc. I believe it was made by a company called Verlinden.

Even though it is an inexpensive model you should still take your time and follow each step carefully! As one of the member already suggested, start by washing all the parts, still on the sprue by soaking it in luke warm water with a little mild detergent. This will wash away all the grease used to seperate the kit from the mold. Next, by yourself a pair of very good cutting plier and cutting knife (with some spare blades), which you will only use for cutting model plastics. This will ensure longevity of the blades and sharp at all times! Glue...use only model cement and not carzy glue! You will also need some sanding paper with various grain sizes. Tamiya sells a combo set with 1000 (the finest) to 600 and 400 (the corses). There is also liquid type but in my opinion they are not much use besides a sales gimmick, some modellers use the liquid type to get rid of very fine lines, such as those on the clear canopy. Primer, usually in gery but also available in white and black. Since you are doing a Focker colour, get a white one! Primer also come in various smoothness. For a Hasegawa kit, the regular one will do.

Not a great modeller myself but I would recommend you to acquire some modelling skills first on a cheaper item, say a reissued BanDai Macross VF-1 model kit or something else you fancy. This way you will learn basic techniques, make mistakes and will not feel bad when the completed model is not what you had in mind. It will also let you know if modelling is something you fancy as the equipment involved, even entry level stuff can add up to a fair sum! Just my opinion but I am sure so of the pros here can give you more advice
-
Well, you have not been looking hard enough Here is a complete set for sale on Yahoo Japan CLICK HERE The price is not cheap but consider it is a full set and limited Wonder Festival item of like 10 years ago, it is fair! Honestly, if you plan to build it, go for a recast as the kit is fairly simple and nearly all the recast kits of this kit I hve seen is very good.

Although the Club-M kits are now not as sought after since the release of Hasegawa kits, they do have some plus sides! First, the Club-M kits will come with a pilot and all missles, which is an additional buy on the Hasegawa kits. Second, you can now almost find original Club-M kits for hlaf or less of their original selling price, which make them a good bargain!

That VF-11 armour is a TECT made conversion kit fo rthe BanDai made 1/144 Macross 7 VF-11C model kit. Not really a conversion kit though, in my opinion as you only need to use like a few parts from the model. TECT shocul have just released the enitre kit on their own My 1/72 VF-11 Full Armour is based on this kit as it is the only reference I have besides two three line art drawings. I also used the 1/72 Hobby Base Retppu VF-11 battroid kit for the body and various pieces...more or less also a conversion kit
-
Nope, by full action they actually mean fully pose-able. This battorid mode only WAVE kit will come with a host of polycaps, waterslide decals etc. all complete in one box!

To Steve68: Will take a few close up pics of the area you need clarification. The instructions were done hush hush and I did not bother to set up my camera system, just used a handheld digicam, hence some pics cpuld be a little blurry. To kkx: The nose cone piece is a new sculpt and not taken from the Musasiya kit, which was a three piece design. I will take a look at a kit and see what kind of problem you are referring to.
-
Great work there, Jarrod! Sorry to hear the difficulites you encountered with the kit. Out of the three IHP kits I have the YF-19, YF-21 and the VF-11, the later two casting quality are not that much to write home about. Nevertheless, it is good to see what you have made out of it

The original Mac Plus Yammie line was supposedly to be 1/72 scale. But since the toy was hand sculpted without the aid of cad (correct me if I am wrong) the scaling could be a little bit off. Furthermore, Yammie might thought that the smaller VF-11 would look odd when packaged and placed together with the YF-19 and YF-21, so they decided to make all three valks roughly the same size

Hobby Fan do not cast their own stuff. For a fact, they do not even have a work shop. They outsource the kits from other suppliers, usually the cheapest and nowadays it means China. Quality can be pot luck. The original Club-M 1/48 VF-1 had already issues, so a recast one or even a recast from a recast could suffer even more problems.
-
Good to hear that the kit arrived quicker than expected but sorry about the broken part. Once all 20 kits have been casted, I will cast an extra one or two for parts. If you want I can then resend the part to you. Actually, that design was taken straight from the original Musasiya kit. The main changes of my kit is the one piece nose cone design, all new wings and stabilisers and all-round updated detailing..and of course the new landing gears and pilot!

Yeah...now I remember, the Club-M VF-4 kit did come with hands, well fists and a gunpod. The odd bit is only that the VF-4 valk does not have a gunpod. Club-M did a little imaginery thing here
