I think the creators have been too busy working on the new Avatar series to micro-manage Shyamalan. While the overall premise remained intact, his dialogue and style of storytelling kept the movie from achieving greatness. I'm on the fence about him directing the sequels, but I'm totally against him writing them or having final say on the scripts.

You forgot to mention how excellent the cartoon is. Much as the acting sucked in the movie, the writing is the bigger crime against the audience.

I think he missed a part on the transformation. Previous pics had the cab panels/wheels turned outward, covering the shoulder joints. I did too! At first, I spent an hour trying to figure out how to get the rest of the robot mode out...only to realize that was his robot mode.

It's better than Dragonball.

Not sure if this should've gone in the Transformers mega-thread. Located here But in case this topic is unique enough to warrant its own thread, I'll answer. Far as I know, it didn't die off. In the most recent generation, Animated, each Autobot had a unique weapon, power, skill, or any combination of the three. i.e. Prowl's shuriken, holograms, and ninjitsu... Bumblebee's stingers and speed... Optimus had an axe, wrist-mounted grapping hooks, etc.

I'm sure Hasbro will do a US release. And the $99 ballpark sounds about right. But not knowing for certain if and when compels me to go with the import. Not to mention the fact that every MP has been altered for US release. Some for the better, IMO, but some...not so much. The tailpipes are just mistransformed. The hood is the real problem. Did you get the chromed die cast smokestacks? I picked those up, too. Dremel?!? Does the battle damage bug you that much?

Oh, absolutely. I was referring to the Takara import version from two(?) years back which was going for more than double that.

The MP pricing is getting silly, though. Takara Grimlock should've been bigger for the price asked. I get that engineering and production costs are factored in, but the MSRP is too far ahead of inflation for them to be shrinking the scales as well.

The pipes rotate. They just mistransformed him slightly.

The front of the car shouldn't have such an upward slope. Reminds me of the Toynami Alpha. Still awesome... and there's still time for tweaking, I guess.

G1's premise was excellent. It created an immersive world that still resonates. Plus, the 1986 movie was epic. Beast Wars had great writing. It enhanced what was already good about G1 and made more sense of it while still establishing its own story. Animated, while it also had great writing, was a reboot/alt. reality. It served its own story well, while providing tons of fan service. Not sure what's canon according to Hasbro. I tend to decide what I like, then it becomes canon to me.

I guess it's kinda loose. But bringing the waist up locks the chest in place. Much like a Valk: locking the leg bar into the nose cone tightens everything up. And yes. Hot Rod is definitely in there. Huge windshield in his back kibble. Parts that are exclusive to Hot Rod's car mode. I've got the transformation worked out - minus a few little details.

Yep, I ordered it. Still haven't received it. XD I'm pretty sure he was meant to fit into the Classics/Generations line. Binaltechs... those got me back into TFs after decades. I have most of the Alternators; I'm missing maybe four.

Drift's mold would've suited Springer better. And the sword with pistols would have worked nicely for him. I can see why they went with IDW Blurr, but Springer was definitely the way to go.

Did you seriously just drop a spoiler? Thanks. Your hatred for the movies notwithstanding, some folks don't want to know the plot of a movie before they've seen it.
