  1. For the longest time I didn't have ne model kit of the original RX-78-2 gundam. So I decided on getting the ver ka MG kit... Some ppl don't like that version because its not true to the anime and has a more modern look but I like the realistic look of the kit.... There are so many versions of the RX-78 that you're bound to find one you'll like...

I'm not a big fan of the original gundam design but I just had to have one because your collection just isn't complete without the original...

Its like have every other valkyrie in you collection but not having ne of the VF-1 valks from the original macross.

I like the KA design, but also dislike it as you said that is 'too much' style charge from the anime.

My personal favortie so far is the One Year War animation color RX78! It has extra details and modern design, but also feel just like the animation design.

  2. ARRRGGGHHHH  I'm done with version 2. Went to see my 1J thinking about the fix by monster and this is what I saw!!! I guess its confirmed that Yamato never did fix the shoulder. Sadly I may be the first casualty. And just a warning!!! We always talk about not handling these version 2 correctly but for my case I have NEVER transformed it except for the first time when I transformed it to battroid mode last November. It was just displayed in my shelf and never been touched for months!!!

    Sorry to hear that.

I was going to get my frist ver2 VF-1... man, now I am not sure any more.

This shoulder problem really worry me.

  3. FIG-COL-1199.jpg

    Very cutie stuff.

It is kind of expensive, although it come with 24 (12 types) in a box.

Love to get the Klan Klan and Sheryl with her military stage costume.

Now, if only they do Macross DYRL characters...

  4. Dag.

Every time I look at more pictures of these guys I get depressed. As in "do I really have to buy THAT"...

I think I'm going to put off buying thse for a long, long loooooooooooooooooooooooong time.

Te bend head lasers on Ozma are just a joke. Come on. I understand everything, but what's with that?

I mean... they surely did not intend on it? It must be a QC flaw? What is that? ... why... so sad :(

Such a wonderful series and such craptastic figures.

    Pete

I see the bend head lasers as a design flaw rather than QC problem.

A harder material should have been chossen in the first place! Real shame.

  5. I'm looking to buy a blue Sheryl if anybody is selling.

PM me the price + airmail shipping cost to HK. I can pay by Paypal.

    Graham

Isn't this sort of figures are suppose to be easy to find in Hong Kong, Graham?

  6. I only order one box. I only have 2 Sheryl, 2 (diff. color version) Ranka, and 2 Brera...

    NO Alto!!! damn it. :(

CM's efforts were better, but these are a lot cheaper, that might be the reason.

  7. I started figure shopping/browsing locally about last year, but its a real pain to get around town getting to the shops. Especially since I live in West Van, and most shops are in Richmond. Regardless, here are a few places:

Sakura Media in Richmond Center: Has the largest collection of 1/60 Yamato Toys I've seen in a single shop. Also has some trashy 1/100 Toynamis. Also has a few VF-1 variants, but not so many.

Soul of Anime in Rich. Center: Has a single VF-1 Low Vis, but mostly stocks up on Revoltech stuff. You'll find just about any Macross Revoltech there.

Ultra Action Toys (Pacific Plaza): Has a lot of preorders, and I believe I saw the VF-25s on preorder here back before it was out. I think you can still get them to ship it in for pickup now.

JHobby (Union Square): Has a lot of old stuff. I found a SDF-1 and some GNUs there too. Also a bunch of assorted model kits (YF-21 and so on)

Sakura Media in Metrotown: Has some revoltechs, and has quite a few 1/55 VF-1s I think.

Crystal Mall: there are 3 different shops that sell relevant stuff in Crystal Mall (all on second floor) but I dont remember their names. Just walk around, you can't really miss it. Most of them carry only Bandai VFs though.

    Nice, thanks a lot. :)

Still hope to have some toyshops are closer to downtown though...

  8. Sak Media in Greater Vancouver (Richmond) said they werent getting the DX or the 1/72 Model kit anytime soon. Dunno about the others. I haven't seen any preorder places list it on their websites yet either. Best bet is to try asking Richmond's Ultra Action Toys, as they usually deal largely in preorders for incoming shipments, but they have no website, and I haven't been there in a while.

Tell me what you can find, I'm interested as well.

same here... anyone else who know where we can get macross toy in local shop in Vancouver?

I usually just order things online though. Good to know a few members are fromthe same city. ;)

  9. That would be awesome, but could you imagine how much that beast would cost?! Still, if done right, it would be a worthy purchase. What would you guys be willing to pay for a 1/60 Monster? I think $250 would be my max, but then the shipping on this would be heinous, too, so I would say $325 with shipping would be my max. That's quite a bit for a toy, but if Yamato really made it super-detailed with enough articulation and cool gimmicks like opening hatches and clear plastic parts, it would be the centerpiece of any Macross collection. I have to say that Yamato is really taking a step in the right direction by releasing the Destroids. Hopefully, it's a sign of more obscure mecha to be released.

But, yeah, Scream Man, I feel your pain ... finding room to display more stuff is becoming a challenge. I'm either gonna have to pack all my anime pvc figures and put them in storage or start selling them, which I'd really hate to do.

1/60 Monster would be BIG. but still great to have it with another 1/60 vf1 and Destroid together.

In term of lower the cost, I would like Yamato cutting down some over-done details. Since Monster has so little joins/movement in its design. I don't even care if it turn out to be just a 'fix' pose toy!

I think they should creat something like the Jumbo Grade Gundam type of quality,

    http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN913939

not the best material/ finishing, but reasonable. Cheap enough to get one - (about 20000 yen?), and size does matter!

  10. Not to mention it's a conventional weapon / bullets. And we all know regular 'ol bullets harm T-800's like taking down a Tank with a Water Baloon  Every instance of conventional small arms munitions used in the movies and TV series do SQUAT to Terminators.

Yeah, no wonder humanity's getting it's a** kicked. Because apparently John Connor forgot about that minor bit of detail even after getting chased by Terminators as a kid. Or unless conventional munitions can tear apart the machines, incl. Terminators. But then again, what point would there have been with the previous movies if a mere shotgun / assault rifle / pea shooter could take T-800's down?

Ok, back to what I originally brought up. A bit irritating that the movie isn't faithful to the equipment. I mean, even a mere *TV series* has been able to try to bring that feel and imagery of the movies when they showed the warfare in the future.

Bunch of lazy-a** special effects & props crew in the movie.

"Well, we're too lazy to build up props like the futuristic weapons from the previous movies and TV series. So we'll just borrow these same, 30 year old gun props used by every movie before. Think of the money we'll save!!!!!"

I guess some futuristic weapon (for human) could still happen. So far all we saw is just 2 mins trailers.

Remember that is only the first of the three 'new' terminator movies...

  11. Character action figures.

I would love to see more Macross charcater figures too, but not action figures.

After recent release the 17cm height CM Minamy figure, I really hope they will continue this line.

I love to have figures such as Misa, Hikaru and Roy in this kind of size and quality.

Yamato should just continue to do mechs, after see the Yamato Minamy Doll, I am having nightmare....
