Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Smegalot replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just paid for mine at Hobby search, wonder how long it will take to get here in Austrailia, more importantly when is the movie comming out......... -
Same here, I had the first run of 1:72 Yammies, my VF-11 didn't even make it to the first transformation, and being in Austrailia, I had little choice of getting it fixed and my orginal yf-19 had knee issues which I ended up fixing as my modeling skills got better. But I have fond memories of these and it was the first time I heard of the licensing issues. Which are still here today. But it does conjure memories and it was also when I was going on line to first learn about macross and robotech. so many years ago.

How about they do a stop animation movie get Tim Burton to do it. Give it a gothic edge. And call it "The Nightmare before Robotech". Where Holloween discovers Robotech..... I need to get out more.....
-
It sold gangbusters? maybe for a little bit when it first came out. But not anymore, seems to be on special every where on the web these days. Sort of like that they can't give it away...lol But yeah gangbusters, is that even a word? Or does it mean that is was used to bust up gangs........

Blu-Ray hell yeah 3D no way. (some unknown reason the part after 3D got deleted)

Maybe the budget was low because they might of been scared of not getting much return. Or they simply thought that the fans would just eat it up and would make a pretty big return, as they say RT fans were wanting more RT story. And hopefully drag more fans over. Still that is small for an animated movie though. Did someone say it was only 1 mill? That is pretty small for any animated movie. (Hearing this makes me think of the Simpsons episode where they have the guys under armed guard making the "Itchy and Skratchy" movie, making it like a prison camp. Animate of die) Back to work for me ...lol

Damn, wish that I didn't have to pay for a holiday, other wise I would get Gamlins VF-22S. But it's bound to happen again soom. they allways seem to have a sale at the moment
-
Honestly, I am amazed how long they have lasted. Maybe they are holding desperatly to the licensing just incase, and when Bandai and the such can distribute Macross world wide. They might get hit with a big bill to distribute RT...And can't afford the bill...lol just speculating that's all

No it sounds like a beheaded chicken type of thing. The body is still running around after the head has been cut off. It's dead but the message has to reach the whole body. (I saw that at my cousins farm growing up).
-
But it seems to be a long painful death...

The RT still has some left. I would of loved to see RTSC move on to a newer series (whic is what it should of done), and will stop calling it dead. But it does need something to get it going again. As a company they just need to produce stuff and get it out there. It seems the only way any franchise survives these days. the best franchises continually bring out new stuff to keep the punters interested, Star Wars, Transformers, G.I. Joe etc. they have gained new fans as they are always looking to get newer fans and not rely on older ones to keep it going. I think it is just the beast of business. To make money and gain interest you must produce "product" to keep people interested. Just hoping on word of mouth doesn't work these days. You have to get it out to new people, and not rely on forums and fan discussions to keep any franchise going. Man am I rambling on here....

I agree that the Robotech fanbase is dieing. Just check out the numbers on the poles (I admit that I joined up as a member years ago) it is just over 2000 in number, which is less than half, compared to the numbers that they had years ago, and I bet the number is dropping still. Ah the end of a franchise. To watch them purposely squash it.....And push the fans away...I guess HG must be a tax write off I agree with Seto, that I think that they though RTSC would bring fans in to want to see the orginal series. But it is harder to get the younger generation to watch the older anime. My partners kids only want to see the new stuff. And I don't think they are are wanting to see the Robotech, or my older stuff, like the orginal Gundam and Votoms. They seem to want the to see stuff like Bleach and Naruto and the Teen ones like Vampire Knight. It is interesting to read about DYRL, saying that HG really don't have distribution rights for it in some way. I mean people would love to see a properly and professionally dubbed version unlike the one ADV did for Macross. I personally think they did the orginal Macross bad to make the RT version seem better. But it does make sense why that have not released it and how they seem to be having so many issues with it. Maybe they can't really distribute anything Anime in Macross related themselves. Only Robotech Macross is what they are aloud to distribute. Which makes complete sense in some ways. As people have said before Macross Plus and Macross II seem to of made it through their grasp, and are still on sale. Mind you I am only guessing this theory. SO I could be completely way off. Enough of my rambling I have to go back to work...

Thanks Keith

HI Guy's i know that this question is probably late in the game. But how do you alter the game to perform like Ace Frontier. when in fighter mode I have the vertical huds, not the way that ace is played.
-
Absolutly fantastic, and your painting skills are great. Just a question of interest, if you are making it a kit how much would it cost?
-
But that fact still remains that they changed the characters to not look at all like there orginal Macross Counter parts. ANd I agree how the Zentradi and the original war was not talked about at all in the RTSC and Rick was the only charcter that has survived the rest were from Southern Cross and mosepeda. And Rick didn't really look like a Rick..... So it does seem that they do not want to have any refence to Macross shown in there anime that they produce. Sentinels was early as not many people really know about Macross in those days. But they don't seem to want to show any of it now. Or even refer to it in any of there animated work. But they still hold on to it for reasons unknown....lol Still I have never watched a franchise slowly die before. So it is interesting to see what they do. My 2 cents worth

Pretty funny site. I wonder if they have tried to shut hime down. I love the haven't changed the template in 10 years, and the All out of Stock items bit. I wonder if HG have tried to stop him.

Does anyone know if Amazon Japan ships internationally?
-
I agree RT is a dieing franchise. A long slow death but it is happening. Still this debate is interesting. Interesting, that they have only distribution rights in USA and Canada. My only new question is. Why has no Austrailian company gone on the band wagon and tried to release it?, Bu then again. I do know. we have the trade agreement with the USA which means if it is copyrighted by an American company we can not do it. John Howard has done a great bit of screwing up us over........
-
I don't think we will see any of Macross Frontier on Blu-Ray other then in Japanese from Japan. Legally that is. I do think we would once HG lift its so called international rights on Macross. But I think it should only be a few more years, unless HG have a miracle and produce something that gets everyone interested in RT again. In there version of the 3 series. And that would be a hard one as most people these days want to see it as the orginal creators wanted it to be. Redubbing and changing the original stories is a thing of the past. the only thing you can do is watch the Fansubbed versions.
-
But who can blame them, I mean a company would be better going for a property that would sell to a bigger market, then a franchise with a dwindelling fans base so they can get back costs.
-
That's and easy one. they probably stop the animated one's just incase the amature animation is better then what they put out.
-
It looks great. I can not wait to see the end product. And will it be a kit?
-
Wow the cock pit detailing is fantastic. I can't wait to see more in the future.
