Wow, there's a D'stance on the works as well?!! AWESOME! I want one for sure... add me to the list. It won't matter that it doesn't have the fast packs . The YF-21 sculpt is superb by itself and the fast packs can be recasted from the Yamato or scratch built instead. By the way ANGEL'S F. thanks for building that list; just a pointer though, is '007' as in James Bond, not '077'

If the VF-4 is a 1/72 scale I would definitively want one...

hey dr. Nick, well you'll have to sand down part of the edges because they are slighly larger than the fit. the use of a sprue to glue them together is fine but it might be too thick..use a piece of styrene or cut the sprue piece thinner. You might have to glue small tabs on the inside landing gear 'box' edges to keep the doors from sinking into the box once you glue them. If this happens anyways, then use the point of the xacto knife to pull the doors up to the surface. the biggest problem will be the square pieces that goes atop the doors where the signal lights are placed by the 'knee'. They have to be sliced thin and sanded and trimmed on the upper edges to fit the compartment ... EDIT: did you get any of this?

Your sculpt is superb and your tutorial is great. Now I can figure how to start the base frame...

I liked it....quite unusual movie. Like the idea that goes off the holywood stereotypes. Yeah, the comentaries are good not just because the insights about the film but explains a lot of the psychology behind the script and acting. Also some of the omited scenes are surprising.

It would be much easier using a hasegawa model than a Yamato toy since some cutting and pasting might have to be done. I think the fighter mode it looks too busy and too Macross 7 I love the battroid mode best...that gives me ideas...but time, God don't I need time?

I use mine for cockpit screens and panels and lighting effects Here's the main panel on the 1/72 Queadlunn-R. there's very little choice left to get an effect like this one..

Wow 3 of each!! that's a whole lot of cash expended on plastic...

I changed a picture on the first page along my white ostrich for scale plus a picture of the family alltogether

Thanks for the compliments guys. -HelloH; like I stated before I like my models to stand in flying pose. I don't like the gears down, grounded look of an aircraft. the gears plugs in under the panels to make it posseable, the aircraft is not glued to the kite-stand just pinned and free stading so you can take it out and place it on the ground. -Grayson; don't I wish I was an advanced modeler? I keep trying to innovate whatever idea I can deal with in a model at the time of building it; like the mesh guard on the chest intakes of some of the VF-1, the engine on the cat's eye, hinge on the canopies, extra sensors on wings, etc. is not that hard to do though. -Kam; yeah the canopies are a real pain. None of them fit correctly and unless you know how to extend or modify it, you'll have to compromise with the original misshape. The trick to make the stand work is pinning. I drilled and pinned the 'arm' to the base using a small metal rod and 5 min. epoxy glue. the aircraft is pinned but free standing . -Now that the molds are gone I feel lucky to be one of the few-handfull of people who have this kit...hopefully eventually, someone else will create one alike.

The cat's eye is a 1/72 scale. and goes greta with the hasegawa As I stated taking new pictures along the hase' the camera run out of batteries and it takes about 14 Hrs to recharge; so it will be until tomorrow night or so for betetr ones. *A photoshoped pict..

last pic an added modification in one of the engine compartments...well an engine...along detail of the dish paint. Edit (sp) *the main (forward) canopy latch opens with a modified wave Y joint. For some future builders of this kit you'll have to know that none of the canopies fit right and since the frame is of a soft metal it can be bend to accomodate the canopy and fuselage shape, but even so is a big pain. *the engine mod is built of styrene and cable parts * the landing gear is detachable and can be placed on ground but I prefer, as in all of my models, the flying pose.

I have seen the entire raxephon series as well as Princess mononoke and some Evangelion. They let you have 3 movies at the time and you can keep them as long as you want to without any additional charge. When you are done viewing it you mail the movie back and the'll send you whatever you have next on your queue list. It cost about $20 per month including shipping. If you receive a movie, keep it for 2 days and send it back the whole process takes about 4-6 days since you have 3 movies at the time you can end up watching over 10 movies on a month for $20. When would you dream of paying that little on blockbuster? Let alone the late fees.

Is it absolutely necessary to primer resin kits?
007-vf1 replied to Grayson72's topic in The Workshop!
Is it recomended?, yes...even if the mold release is taken off completely ( which is always hard to tell) the surface is too smooth in some parts and the paint might peel and scratch off easily. You would have to sand the whole kit a bit to make the paint adhere to it better. Also by priming you can see imperfections on the surface a lot better. -

what every one has been waiting for...just some quick pics until i finish them since it is 99 % done *pic 4 cat's eye

Yeah so as that fan racer! Is that a Ghost X-9 at the back 007-vf1? I bet ya it was the easiest to build & paint among the rest? yeap that's the fan racer. You'll see the first pic I posted over the other ones... the ghost was indeed the easiest one to build and paint... *pic 3 Ghost fromMac plus

The kit is orginally made by Tanmen from Japan. The only place I knew they had it is hobbyfan and was in preorder status. I don't know when did they run out of stock. hobbyfan fan racer If they aren't going to get a new batch for sell ( you might want to email them and ask them) then I don't know where to get them. Tanmen might be the last resource but that's another story...a very long one. You might really want to browse through one of the top pinned topic on this forum "Official tanmen order thread" to find out more. May be one of the guys who have one can get it recasted...

-Eternal D; the ghost I got it from Monkey N auctions and is an original resin kit, cat's eyes and fan jet are the tanmen ones myerjessee got for us, they are also original resin kits and not that many were reproduced. The angel birds and gerwalk( coverted with a Bandai kit) are hasegawas Grayson- I didn't take any before and after pics since is pretty much a standart build up. I did do some minors tweaks and I'll go in detail when is finished... I should have them ready by next weekend I am working on them as I write this... *pic2 close up of blue angels with Mac Zero pilot

I have a B & D and like Jung I can tell speed is not a factor on your purchase. You'll be drilling some small, insignificant holes on plastic models and the versatility and handling are the most important resons to have one of whichever brand is best on that aspect. I might buy a battery operated that is smaller than a palm and can handle little 1/32 or smaller sized bits, if there's one. You might also want to buy it for other works you might encounter that are not model related. I had used mine to polish some CDs when scratched ( I wished it didn't have so much torque...)

Ok...first pics in; the sun was great today...whadda you think?... Just wanted to see if any , eeerrr coments... I'll post the finished models here as well... ...stay tuned... 2 of them are already finished; all the others 90% except for the gerwalk which is half way.. I been working on them since mid November last year (not bad for a braking record "model in a month...") *there are more pictures down *pic 1 "Sempai is just a simple roll over...."

I really don't know...it came loose I think is the one from the blister pack. Is the bigger version 6-7" ?? that is close to 1/72 scale. I didn't know they made one even bigger at 9"( man, I like tos ee that one). I have an original blistered one sealed as well.
